I realise Jet Motors will disagree with some of the things I'm about to say, but I think my comment is fair and informative.
Let me start by saying that this kit contains the best parts to upgrade any standard Mini. Maniflow exhausts are definitely the top of the market, and a cilinderhead will completely change your engine in combo with the exhausts.
The 1.5 rockers are controversial for some, but I like them and feel any stock cammed engine will hugely benefit from them.
However I think it important to realize that this kit is not going to get ANY stock engine to 90hp. So if you buy this kit and you only get 80-85hp there is nothing wrong! You have put the best parts on your car and this is a realistic and very good result, do not be disappointed Let me explain.
Stock airboxes are really restrictive, even with this really cool upgraded snorkel. They will need drilling holes in them to free up performance there is an easy 5hp to gain there, even on a bone stock engine.
Not every Mini has the same camshaft. If you have a 1275 with the tame camshaft that has good torque but runs out of breath past 5.5000rpm you will get lower max hp. A 1275 with the mg metro camshaft will gain a lot of power in the top end.
If you where to build a new fresh engine with good tolerances ánd a good camshaft 88-90hp is possible. But most old engines are down on power due to normal wear.
So my point: this kit is the way to go, buy it, enjoy it, but do not focus on the numbers. Every engine is different in wear, camshaft etc so results may vary. A lot 😂

That Cooper sounds really nice. Watching all these videos of Mini Coopers make me really want to buy one and teach my son about car mechanics. Would like to get two, one classic Cooper and a Cooper S (w/ a Cooper S build, Twin Cam or Honda motor build) . These cars just so classic and iconic.

The term Cooper is often wrongly used. 99% of Minis are not Coopers.
If you want to teach your son mechanical work, just but any classic Mini and teach the skills while modifying it. But that's just my opinion
      Best of luck!

I have a 2000 Rover Cooper MPi, it was fitted by the team at MED with the "works" kit from new and Sorry but it does not produce 90bhp, not even at the flywheel, on a hub dyno we got just shy of 65bhp. I rebuilt the engine last year fitting a Kent274 Mpi cam, cleaned up the heads, honed, rings bearings went to 1:3MED roller rockers as 1:5 would be far too much with the cam and on the same hub dyno we are now at just shy of 84bhp.

Do you need to have fuel injection to do this conversion? will it work on a 1987 998cc Mini?

Wowzer. Jeremy, how would you compare this to the turbo kit? What if someone’s on the fence between the two?

    • @GTE_Channel
      @GTE_Channel ปีที่แล้ว

That are two completely different setups and price ranges. The Cooper kit is quite easily installed, a Turbo kit is not.
A supercharged setup falls in the middle of cost and is super easy to install.
It's all a matter of preference.

Most of the time in the video you talk about stickers and signatures this is the horsepower increase ?
You didn't give any technical information about the parts you put only for signatures shame marketing...
