I was playing face up paigow not too long ago and dealer opened a flush with pair. I look at my hand and it's a glorious sea of face cards. I think it was queens full of jacks with kings on top

Hmm not sure about being banker rules. Normally, if you're banker, casino dealer sets aside the same amount of chips that you're betting and then pays you if you win. But they take your chips if you lose as banker. It's how our casinos near my house operates banker rules.

If you bank and play two hands, set your non bank hand to push. All you care about is the bonus. Minimizes commission.
I much prefer face-up pai gow so there’s no messing with commission.

@@Tker1970 really? I’d have to check it out. I’ve played at face down at commerce and joker was completely wild. I also played face up at San Bernardino and ya joker wasn’t completely wild. Haven’t been to Hollywood Park in like 3 years so I didn’t even know they had it

This game is problematic unless a strict rule have to be followed by the house and the players are aware of it. Check this out: If the dealers can be played as flush or straight, and can also be played as pairs. How will dealer play it? If he will play it as pairs, the house wins, if it is played as straight or flush the house will push with the players.

You win the copy hands. In addition, you mix up the cards-if you feel the house is getting great hands, you can bank and take the house's hand.

House always has an edge. In pai gow the house edge is 2 ways. Tie goes to the banker & when u win must pay 5% commission.
It’s fun / relaxing game to play - just need better cards than the dealer.

That's another casino edge technically you should win but that's another way the casino doesn't have to pay out but I believe if it the other way around the dealer wins

Is this just a play acting? why would the player showing his hands to the dealer? As far as I know most house don't have a fix rule how they played the house hands. For example if they have two pairs of low and have an Ace, play the two low pairs as high and the Ace as low. Of if they have big 2 pairs and have an Ace, separate as low and high the two pairs. This guy is showing his hands, I am not saying the dealer might do this, the dealer could play his hands to beat the players hand. Some hows rule is for the dealer, if he has two pairs below, 10, and have a King or Ace, put the 2 pairs as high and Ace or King as low. That's why, if it is not an open face pai gow, the player should not show his hands to avoid any problem.
There is absolutely a standard “house way” of playing that the dealer must abide by. I hope that helps.

A joker would not turn trip 10s into quads. Would work only with trip Aces.
Some casino count joker is wild so trip with joker will count as quads
