The reserve is in perfect position to climb down the tree.

Looks like a frontal to a stall. If you get a frontal, hands up, it stalls very easily! Glad you're ok and thanks for sharing. Trees are friends 🙂

Maybe you should consider to switch to lower categoty wing and front reserve harness

What caused the wing to collapse like that?

Give me a try: these collapses are usually caused by a heavy lee rotor, since it was not caused by the pilots input. You can see, that the pilot gets nervous shortly before the incidence, so the rotor "announces" that it will come. What is the cause of this roitor now? Look deeply to the Hauser Kaibling. You will see, that there can be heavy downdraft winds from east due to alpine pumping. At minute 2:00 you can see, that the pilot is beneath the east lying top of the hill. Conclusion: Due to the windsituation at that day, he might have chosen the wrong starting place. (my opinion, but i`m open for discussion!)

Additionally, you can see at 2:17 a fat cumulus... on the other side of the hill

Could be as Alexander says, but hard to know how severe the turbulence really is even though the frontal collapse is quite large, looks like the wing was reinflating fine until it was spun (and kept in) by the pilot on the right side creating a cascade.

Визунчик! Активное пилотирование... нет, не слышал. Хорошо жив остался.

I think too, this caused the Lee Rotor! Alexander calls it out. But glad that the Pilot is ok... the Recue was thrown f**** late - Damn
