In Canada they call it a Twinkle Tour, hot chocolate in the car and drive around looking at all the best lights. They often issue a map for different neighbourhoods with houses to see :)

I think most people if asked would happily not do gifts and just go for a meal or do a secret Santa. As a group of friends this year we are having a takeaway games night and secret Santa, kids included and they also get to play secret Santa so it should be fun, buying only one present is less stress and you can put more effort into it than buying 10 gifts or more 🎅🏻💸🙏🏻 I start my shopping early and have a gift app where you can log ideas and purchases and it keeps a total for each and you can reset it in January and start again ✅

Truthfully for adults to adukts, I think k there is way too much gifting. I think having a pot luck party is so much better than a gift. Everyone brings some food and drink and share the gift of company. If you need to produce a physical gift, I think consumables is the wah to go. The western world is killing the planet with silly obligate gifts. Enjoy eachother, be kind and supportive through out the year and share the gift is the spirituality of the season. Just my two cents.

Another fab video, thank you 🎄 since your last video we’ve started getting one or two ‘Christmas essentials’, like tubs of Roses and advent calendars, each time we go to a food shop and are storing them in the garage - perfect way to get everything without doing it in one big shop when the stores get busy x

For the first time ever, I’ve cash flowed for Christmas. I just need to start buying things but I’ll definitely use the cash back websites! I’ll also look in charity shops too. It’s such a good feeling being prepared! Fab video!

Great advice Lara. I have a monthly budget I put away for Christmas and it covers the cost. Fell into the trap many years ago of Christmas on a credit card and having to pay it back. I plan what I need and make a list on my phone for presents, food and decor. I declutter before hand and sell items. I do secret santa with family so it takes the pressure off in terms of cost and time. I've started my Christmas shopping and bought my sons gifts already.
It helps me to start now but doesn't stop my partner every year thinking I'm mad !

Great video as always. I’m quite frugal but always good to be reminded of tips. Definitely writing down more free things to do to make memories. A how you budget for food over the Christmas period would be helpful. 💫
A thrift swap sounds fun too x

Fab idea but, Be careful! Contact the companies with the batch numbers to check expiry dates of the items. You don’t want to give friends and family a bad rash or reaction.

@@debbiejohnson3723 I’m afraid not hun, I am a chemist for a high end makeup company. All our products have a Shelf life, it’s typically double the PAO (period after open) form manufacture. So please do check, most cosmetics will have a batch number on the pack. Just email customer services to check.

I always put together a box of things I know a particular person will use, their favourite bubble bath, shampoo etc, and if I know it's someone that struggles with money I even do a "basic" box with their favourite snacks or tbag, coffee, sugar etc x

Thank you for this Lara .So many fantastic ideas. We are on a very tight budget and unfortunately have three of our children's birthdays in November one an 18th so I can't do a no spend month. But will be doing the lists and looking at collecting things as I find them not leaving it to the last minute. Also I think I am going to look at second hand shopping some gifts too.I know some shops sell new gifts people didn't want or just items that are lovely. Please could you do a video on second hand shopping for Christmas and thrifting gifts etc.Take care and looking forward to seeing whatever your doing next.

I buy absolutely everything from charity shops.. I start in January with the unwanted gifts and buy all year round. I only ever buy tasteful items that I would love to receive myself or that I know that individual would like. I usually stock up on boxes of chocolates and sweets when they are on offer (usually from Poundland or one of the discount stores.). I often split the larger boxes and put the chocolates into cellophane bags, from the craft section, and tie the top with a ribbon and a pretty label. I sometimes do this with homemade or good quality bought cookies too. The packaging makes the world of difference.Another idea is to buy beautiful bottles jars and decanters in the charity shops and fill them with bath salts or bubble bath or sweets etc.
It’s fun to create beautiful gifts and made them look high end.Think about what you love about high quality luxury products and see if you can make cheaper things look similar. Great video as always. Xx

We had about £100 to do a big shop before Christmas in the 80s. We always had a gold trolley with snowballs, cherry b's, qaulity Street (the full big tins!) Etc Top of the pops at Christmas eve a few nights out at our local social club.. it was the best! *sighs* Ps any news on your test? Xx

Maybe its because I'm only 25 & have been a student for 5 years so haven't done much shopping but I'm still confused how the cashback works! When i was growing up my nan used "cashback" at the supermarket till instead of the bank but it would mean the card total would increase by whatever she wanted in cash... Please could you do a more in depth explanation or point me in the right direction to some info. 🤞 I'd love to save more money as I've graduated and had to take a job thats literally half of the salary I'm qualified for and expected to be on 🙃😅🤣 thank you!
