  • Spedal NaviCam sent me one of their navigation units equipped with Andriod Auto and Apple Car Play to test out while traveling on my motorcycle. I spent six days traveling 1900 miles using this device and found it worked really well for navigation using Google Maps and GAIA. If you are looking for offroad navigation, say like, for a Backcountry Discovery Route (BDR) you can easily use GAIA with the loaded GPX tracks and follow the routed lines. You can also use offline maps when you don't have cellular service. Using this device will keep you from destroying your cell phone when its installed in a cradle, which I have destroyed many phones.

Great review. Amazon has several of these now from different makers and it's cheaper. Just got one for $150!

@@User98938 nice. They have some quirks but overall do a good job.

I know this is way off topic, but did you switch to a T7

I traded out my 1200GS for a T7 last spring. I still have the 390 Adventure. I wanted to experience travel on the T7 so I took it on this trip to Southern Arizona. There are some things I like and some I don't. Not sure it was the right move.

This being the same price as a Garmin unit is a deal breaker for me. I'll keep using my old phone I guess...

There are other brands that do the dame thing for around $100. I am going to try a different brand to see if a cheaper version works just as well.

I've been using Samsung Galaxy phones mounted to my bikes over the last 85,000 miles with no problems. The first one was an S7 and it did overheat in the desert when using wireless charging a couple times. zero problems with my S10 & S23.

My S10 is starting to show symptoms of abuse. You have a great luck with your phones. Which phone cradle do you use?

Same issue with you about text size - they need a Bigger Screen option like they have for cars. I prefer 8" screen Minimum. If they can keep their Features with a 8" or larger screen, comparable to Itchy Boots setup, they would 10x their sales as her setup lacks several of their features and is TRIPPLE the price.

I was approached by another company that has a larger screen but not that much larger. The price is still pretty high. A bit bigger screen will really those of us ocularly challenged. Cheers.

Also, do you know how to get recorded video & pictures off of the NaviCam and onto your phone so you can edit/share content?

There is an SD card port. I think you will have to get it off the SD card, from what I understood.

I used a custom-made one for the S7 and a Quadlock wireless charging unit for the S7. I've also used the QuadLock & SP Connect with the S10 & S23. The Quadlock case is much better at holding the phone, so I would recommend that for off-road use. Quad lock also appears to have better cooling, which could be beneficial in the desert.
