Hi Ray. I watched a old video of you going to the dump the other day. I can’t believe your dad never took you to the dump! it’s a great learning experience for the kids. To learn where our trash goes.👍
The escape is sold as the Kuga over here in the EU and i have to say they are some of the best Fords Built. Even for our "glass smooth" roads here in scotland ,you would need to work hard at it to wear them out. We also get a 2.0 turbo diesel which would pull a block of flats down (appartment block) they are fantasic cars. Glad to see they didnt skimp on the US variants unlike the Fiesta and Focus.
I have done this before in my driveway, using 4 jack stands for safety. Using all of them on front of vehicle. Thanks for another great video. This is a 2 on a scale from 1 to 10. Ten being the most difficult.
That CV reminds me of an incident I had this summer. I was driving along on vacation when all of a sudden it felt like I had a wheel falling off. It cleared up and resolved itself, but I did confirm all of the lugs were properly torqued (I always pack my torque wrench cause I am the warranty), so I figured failing CV. I nursed it back home and it continued to resolve. Upon later inspection, the clamp came off, must've been sucked into the joint, got chewed up and spit out - the boot is still good but there is no sign of the clamp.
No …. We are all glad the doodle doo’s are gone and will never return. If you need a doodle doo fix you back to the old videos. We won’t judge you…… 😂😂😂😂😂
Got fed up with the pry bar falling off lower ball joints, so had a tool made up from scrap steel that resembles a long tailed capital letter F. Works exceptionally well on lower ball joints. Hook one end on top and the other underneath and the level of control on the suspension is much easier to handle.
I have that "whole other world" feeling sometimes when I take a hard nap in the middle of the day. I wake up not knowing if it's the same day or the next......it's very bizarre..
Hello the Ray machine. I tell you I have to have my Ray fix every morning with my coffee and your such a crack up and so entertaining with your remarks and comments also attitude. Love it all. No boredom here. Rock it and fix it like you stole it. Yeh. Tops.😅😂
Not seen enough "shiny" with the brake-kleen lately, so this video was unexpected! Good to have a straight-forward repair for once Ray, well deserved! Shocking that a CV joint and tie-rod ball failed after so few miles.
In the UK that car is a ford Kuga. we would have replaced just the cv and boot on the affecting part. A lot more messy but the cost is less than half in the UK. Nice job.
Ray - you do such a good and honest job fixing these rigs and the uploads are well orchestrated. The thing that amazes me is how light-weight the components are and how very difficult the stuff is to reach. I quit wrenching my own vehicles about five years ago and, admittedly; my stuff is older but it is better built and heavier. Seems like we are sacrificing everything on our car at the altar of better mileage and economy. Your job is tough!!
I used to work in a car dealership, and as soon as the mega brake cleaner was sprayed about it so reminded me of how much I learned to hate the smell of the stuff....
Interesting... our 2014 Escape has a persistent rattle under the front, even after a suspension rebuild. Think I'll have a look at the tie rod ends and CV's. Have a good'n, and stay cool!
That's not very long for a boot. Fault would show up on full lock test for FWD. Hub puller/spider is worth owning for DIYer. Hub centre nut is often accessible with the wheel on for final torque. Shop's looking good. Only so long before alignment toys start arriving.

Great job as always. That hockey stick tool that Eric O. uses for the control arm would be very useful and safer than the pry bar. Always have a great day.
It took a minute to identify the closing song. With a different tempo and instruments than the familiar version. Must be different lyrics, too - "I see a blue car and I want it painted black"
Ray, you should do what Edd China does when he's working on lower control arms. Loop a ratchet strap around it then press down on the strap with your foot. Leaves your hands free. 😁
Hey Ray, good video's. Always interesting. I our shop we had for that kind of jobs a wishbone hendel bar extractor. So you can stir and place the rod (lower) on youre own in a easy way. Pierce Manufacturing has it's HQ where I live. They make ARFF equipment as well as fire trucks.
I always compare new tie rod end to factory one.sometimes the length varies .then you can adjust jam nut to compinsate for length difference.
The offset on the tie rod ends are to creat the Ackerman angles for correct steering geometry.
