This low-key makes no sense... When ANY team's running game doesn't work, the opposing D can bring pressure freely and the qb suffers. Even great qbs will get pancaked if there's no need to stack the box to account for the running game. The problems fields had in Chicago were to due a clown show of a coaching staff, a terrible o line and a lack of playmaking wrs. In Pittsburgh, the line is not a completed product, he has only one wr of note and the coaching staff keeps giving him the back up playbook. At some point Smith needs to let fields play like qb 1 if he's going to be qb1. The line and the wr situation need to be sorted out too if this offense is goingto work, but let's not pret ND fields is the only qb who'll faceplant without a running game to make the offense multidimensional

But so will Russ! I don’t believe JF will be anywhere near as good as Russ over the next 3-5 years, let alone better than Russ, but I understand why people are invested in seeing JF develop.
He’s a decade younger. Gotta go with youth and potential if the potential is strong enough, but Tomlin isn’t going to stake his career on a guy who can only play like a capable backup.
JF needs to show me a lot more before I believe he should even be in a conversation with Russ, let alone starting over Russ.

Start Russ when he's well. See what he can do. If he's playing well I have more confidence in him leading the team in the second half of the season than I do in Justin.

Warming up to QB Fields. Still need to see a breakout performance (200+ yds passing, 2 TDs in a single game, then back to back) to be convinced he should be QB1. Until that happens, Russell Wilson should remain QB1. I’d start Wilson when fully healthy to assess his capabilities under Arthur Smith.

Do other Qb's miss wide open receivers? Bears fan here... I have heard this about him for four years. I wonder if he is the only that does this? After watching him for three years, his biggest weakness is pocket presence. If he can ever improve his pocket presence he is a top ten Qb.

Second half of the season last year in 8 games I believed he had 2 turnovers and 8 total TD’s. Technically he has 2 more INT’s but they were on Hail Marys against Cleveland. One was actually dropped but it was the last play of the half so no one challenged. The other would have been the game winning TD but it got dropped by Mooney. Get your story straight bro or I’m going to stop watching.

I agree with everything you said that the defense can win 10 or so games alone and hold other teams less than 20 points. But, here's the key to that, that will be true only if our offense does long drives, and wins in TOP, whether we're just getting field goals or not.The defense has to stay well rested. If the Steelers start doing 3 and outs in the second quarter, and then in the second half of the game, then the defense will be gassed, and that comment that you made about the defense winning games would be obsolete in those kind of games 👁🗝

I think people are going to be surprised at what Euss does with his legs. He is still a much better scrambler and runner than people think. Dude was 8th in QB rush yards last season, right behind #7 Mahomes, and Russ only played in 15 games and had almost no designed runs.

He should play well, he has started for 4 years. The playcalls are conservative in nature. Also notice the completion pattern. 95% outside the hash and withing 15 yds.
Slow drop/set, horrible field sight and bad processing.

Real ones knows Fields isn’t the QB 1 for future of Steelers . Steelers can’t afford Fields or Wilson after this year . Fields hasn’t played a really great team yet and if he’s really good then Steelers would’ve scored multiple Td in first 2 weeks

According to Sports Info Solutions (SIS), Russ completed 6 passes of 40+ air yards past the original LoS (for 301 yards), good for #1 in the NFL. 4 of those 6 went for TDs. The 2 that didn’t were drops by his WRs. He attempted 16 such passes, 10 of which were deemed on target and none of which resulted in an INT…0 INTs!
sounds like something else for Fields to prove. This year is working out to be the greatest opportunity to prove all doubters wrong.
Chargers, Colts, Cowboys , Raiders , Jets, Washington, and Giants , before the 2nd half of season. Steelers atleast needs to win these AFC games incase of tie breaker at end of season for playoff spot . Multiple teams will have same record at end of season. Wilson needs to be ready to go atleast by raiders or Jets game so he can be up to speed before the brutal start of 2nd half of season
If the Steelers didn’t have a top 2 defense in the league he might be 1-1 or even 0-2… but realistically he’s done a good job and he does have a top tier defense that he can lean on… idk if Russ would be better or not because the line.. if the line starts to gel I’m leaning more towards seeing what Russ has. If he was seriously hurt he would be on IR because we are going into week 3 of fields starting. If Russ is out another week he could have been on short term IR. I do jot believe he is truly hurt
