Dash products were made for college students and people living in small apartments. They are made for people who are cooking for one and need to save space. That’s why everything is small and designed the way it is to make one at a time. It’s so smart I wish they had these products when I was in school!

I'm glad you point out the fact that some of the products are designed for certain uses specifically certain types of uses that are convenient for people who really do not have a lot of space to work with and you know the interesting the more interesting thing about it is that there is somebody with a channel that literally is called no space no space no time or something cooking or something like that anyway she works with a lot of the dash products and frankly she's made me want to get some of those products because if it wasn't for the outlet part I would probably have bought them already because they're small they're Compact and you can do a lot of things with it you just have to think outside the box. Much like I did with my waffle iron I have a waffle iron that can go on you can use it for outdoors like in a situation where you're in a campfire have a campfire stove or you know your normal stove top and I have made really delicious sandwiches with that specifically grilled cheese sandwiches easy the best way to make it probably not but it works and had I know about making waffle iron fries I probably would have used it to make waffle iron fries... My point is people shouldn't poo poo things if they serve a particular type of audience whether it's people who don't have a place really to cook things or whether they're you know like you said students or even older people who don't really have a kitchen to work with and or on can't afford anything fancy... No it is true that some of these irons whether it's a waffle iron pipe pi one or any one of these - items might not be necessarily cheap they do require spending some money but the question is will they serve a purpose in the long one will you get your money's worth out of it and the answer to that is if you're not eating out and you're making food with it in then yes it will pay for itself. I always have to look at the bottom line which is the cost will it pay for itself in the long run and the reason I say this is because I am not a rich person I am in fact quite poor I don't want to go into all the details but it's because when your handicap in a country that favors only able-bodied you have a problem finding a job or even getting one for that matter all they see is a wheelchairand that's if that's if they actually see you at all half the time they pretend they don't see you or maybe they don't pretend maybe it's actually subconsciously they just don't want to see you because you are a reminder of what their life could be and therefore they just don't want to be reminded. By the way I am using voice to text which means that it does not necessarily write things the way I would write it if my hands were working properly right now they're not working properly and I have a hard time gripping things I cannot get voice to text to do half the things I needed to do I'm lucky if it makes any sense at all so I asked you to be slightly indulgent when you read this and understand that I'm doing the best that I can cannot fix anything and it does not punctuate as I would like it too.

      1. Burning myself
      2. Making a mess because I was trying to get the bowl out without burning and those logistics are a problem
      3. Getting soup on my oven not because I have to get a grip on the stupid bowl

You could totally do a large amount in thr batter bucket thingy. You would just have to do it step by step. Flour everything, then wet everything, then flour everything again, as opposed to fully battering one batch and then doing more.

I would use that for mini pot pies to make big batches, freeze for later or meal prepping for the week. You could prep a few different fillings, make a batch of savoury and sweet and cook while you do other things. 1 per person for entrees, split for kids or dessert pies. I may need to buy that. I currently make mini pot pies in muffin tins but this seems way easier.

If you want to go the extra mile you can experiment by adding a few anchovies and breading or simply garnish with some chili flakes. It's simple yet quick to make and the flavours pack a punch.

Try using ice water to make the onion bloom open more. It worked for my brother who got this set. My mother would put a ring of aluminum foil around the edges of a pie when she baked it cause the edges would overcook. I bet the same issue is going on with the pie maker. Most of these are for single households. Especially dash stuff. To find these things way cheaper, go to Temu. The batter bowl comes in different sizes too.

I got Morphy Richards original “Mico” toastie maker about 5 years ago… it is amazing! I’ve worked out the precise times for each side in my microwave and it makes awesome cheese toasties. I got the updated version (like the one you have) a couple of years ago and don’t like it as much. The original seals better, and makes crispier toasties :D (Plus I like adding tomato so really don’t want it leaking out… boy is it HOT 😅)
I would say, it’s great for living alone or if I have 1 person visiting… if I use it more than twice in a row it gets too hot to pick up! (Also have to reduce the time using it twice in a row)

Has anyone tried the Lunchables Grilled Cheese!?! Omg I love them! I’m not a fan of the pepperoni ones but I love the regular grilled cheese. I like to make them for my lunch. And that little Dash pie maker is so cute! Dash makes the coolest cutest little gadgets….when they actually work! 😂

I’ve had a microwave toastie thing for years (I think I also found it on TH-cam through another gadget video 😂) didn’t know they did a waffle one though… might check if it’s had any upgrades in the last four years

Hey @RachhLovesLife, one trick I use for making sure the water doesn't boil over is to just add a pair of wooden chopsticks. It has to be sticking out of the water and at a diagonal and for some reason it never boils over. See if that helps!

I basically have the fancier tupperware microwave metal cook think (Tupperware's Micro Pro Grill has more usecases due to the shape, but no waffle iron)
And you need the first one to heat up the plates, from the 2nd onwards it gets way better!

Try using Mayo instead of butter on your next grilled cheese. Makes it much tastier

Or garlic butter. I've used leftover Papa John's garlic butter sauce cups to butter bread for a grilled cheese. So delicious!

Kudos for how clean inside your microwave looks. Mine looks like a massacre site even though I clean it monthly and hardly use it.

Here’s a thought on the Dash Pie Maker. When using store bought dough, roll out the dough THINNER because if it’s thick, it will take longer to cook through, thinner in a machine like that requires a thin crust as opposed to regular crust thickness, that way your fillings reach better temperature to thoroughly cook and not to over cook the crust. Recommend a tortilla press for such cool convenient kitchen gadgets. Comes in helpful. 🫶😇

To prevent the water from boiling over, place a wooden spoon over the pot. OR put some oil on a paper towel rub the top of the pot around the rim.

As someone who has a built in microwave cabinet above my oven and over my head height, I kind of love the microwave plate holder. I'm always worried I'm going to spill hot food on myself as I'm pulling it down to carry. I just don't love the price tag of a $100 but i'm probably going to buy it because $100 is cheaper than a medical bill and the associated effects of a potentially nasty burn!

Not new here, but still baffled as to why you keep your microwave downstairs. Why not just put it on the counter like the majority of other people do? Do you not use it very often in daily life? We use ours pretty regularly - there's no way any of us would be willing to go to another level of the house to use the microwave or any other kitchen appliance. Also, that onion looked DELISH!

if i remember right the reason why waffles gets a soggy feeling when you keep them warm in the oven is that you stack them on each other so it releases moisture/steam the same reason why a grilled cheese sandwich on a plate gets soggy on the bottom if you leave it on the plate without putting two chopsticks under the sandwich to the steam can escape

So fresh pasta and not spaghetti, and the exact problem with microwaves is that they basically heat things by boiling the water content so everything goes soft and mushy. You want crispy, dont use a microwave.

    • @uribove
      @uribove 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

That's not how those plates work tho. Look into the science of it. The plates get hot from internal vibrations due to the microwaves and they have a specific metal content that does that so well that the vast majority of the microwaves get turned into heatwaves (aka infrared waves) instead of penetrating the food inside the plates as microwaves

When you think your water is going to boil over, place a wooden spoon across the top of the pot. It’s a trick my aunt taught me, the spoon has a cooler temperature than the water and helps to pop bubbles and prevent them from rising out of the pot by breaking the surface tension.

A bowl cozy or two takes up a lot less space and is more durable (in my opinion). Been using those for decades!
As an adult I just always use a large soup mug so I don't need anything extra.

I have the pie maker but mine makes four at once, rather than just one. (Mine came from Williams-Sonoma but there are other brands as well that can do multiples at a time.) More filling is absolutely key for getting a top crust pie cooked in the center. I also make other things in mine than just pie. My favourite thing to make in it is pizza but I've also done cookies and quiche in mine, as well as multiple kinds of pie. And if you used a top crust for the pizza (I don't) it would be like a calzone. Many options. I prefer your cutter, though, as mine doesn't have the slits around the side to make it fit into the bottom better.
I might have to get the Bloomin' Onion maker, even just for the cutter.
