This was an excellent video! Exactly what I was looking for. I'm a chef who is looking at rotator cuff surgery very soon and you have given me many great ideas I've only got a couple weeks off so I've got to get right back to it. Thank you.
A very useful kitchen aid for one handed operation is the famous Swedish Cutting Board. It has suction cups on each corner on its underside for securely holding it onto a countertop. On its topside, it has an adjustable vise that can clamp onto a jar or can or box or food. Then one hand alone can be used to twist open the lid of a jar or can or box. Also on the topside of Swedish Cutting Board there is a removable bed of spikes that can impale food to hold it steady while one hand can grasp a knife to cut the food. As a safer alternative than using a knife, a pair of stainless steel scissors can be used to slice off pieces of food such as fruit, vegetables, bread or cooked meat. The convenience of using stainless steel scissors is that it can be disassembled for cleaning.
Thank thank you thank you Best video I have found Great ideas. I had a stroke and my left side is paralyzed. How about tips for peeling & slicing potstoes
Thank you for making this video. I am getting left joint basal arthroplasty this week , and I am lefty. I won't be able to use my left hand for long time. So I started looking for how to cook with one hand , I found your vlog. My knives and peeler are left hand trained and I can not cut to chop anything with right hand but your ideas certainly will come handy.
I am so happy I have found your videos. I have had 5 extensive surgeries on my rt dominant elbow, with an infection so they had to take my replacement out and now have a q ball (2nd round) in with no elbow or joint at this time so can't really use arm. Been kinda bummed bc I can't cook. Any ideas on how to cook with 1 arm, holding pan and stirring or flipping like sandwich?? Also I have major trouble opening up jars. Thanks in advance
I never thought I would search for such video... But here I am, sitting with my left hand bandaged a d dreaming about hearty salad which I can't cut)))
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I fell and bent my elbow backwards, shattering the bottom of my humerus. I’ve been in a splint for 2 weeks and trying to figure out how to do everything one handed. I’m having surgery tomorrow so it’s going to get worse before it gets better. I’m really excited to try these techniques. Although my husband would do anything and everything for me, I like to be self sufficient.
Can you please post how to cut onions and tomatoes it’s one hand, I’m right handed fractured RH wrist, like to use left hand to cut onions and tomatoes
I have to admit, I've learned to enjoy more skin on veggies, potatoes, carrots, etc. Or, I hand them to my wife and ask her to peel them. Your rubber band hacks are the bomb though.
Getting this set up and then cleaned would be very difficult. I recently lost the use of my dominant hand. I've tried some of this. I'm still struggling.

That rubber band idea is brilliant. I recently severed two fingers and my hand is bandaged up in a big ball. That's gonna work great!

How would you open cans with a manual can opener?
U don't.
Amazon has a battery operated can opener, which works great and I love it, as I have only use of one hand!
