Remigio Navarro (ca. 1795 - ¿?) was an Argentine composer, pianist and conductor. He stands out as an African-American figure on the cultural scene of the 19th century. He was the conductor of the Argentino Theater. He also highlights his premiere of a Strauss waltz in our country.
A quote from Mariano Bosch reads: "the black pianist Remigio Navarro, a famous composer of that time, author of the most beautiful minuets that were danced in halls and the theater, was at the height of his glory as a composer and soloist in those years from 1830 to 1836. He was also the author of the music of most of the petipiezas and not a few Creole tunes and styles, and in concerts he was the accompanist of the singers ".
The material is a publication of the Institute for Ethnomusicological Research. The transcription of the works was carried out by Santiago Bustos Berrondo, with edition and texts by Patricio Mátteri., under the direction of Lucio Bruno Videla.
Remigio Navarro (ca. 1795 - ¿?) fue un compositor, pianista y director de orquesta argentino. Resalta como figura afroamericana en la escena cultural del siglo XIX. Fue director de orquesta del Teatro Argentino. De él se destaca también su estreno de un vals de Strauss en nuestro país.
En una cita de Mariano Bosch se lee: "el pianista negro Remigio Navarro, compositor célebre de aquella época, autor de los más bellos minuetos que se bailaban en los salones y el teatro, estaba en el apogeo de su gloria como compositor y concertista de plano en esos años de 1830 a 1836. Era, además, el autor de la música de la mayor parte de las petipiezas y no pocas tonadas y estilos criollos, y en los conciertos el acompañante de los cantantes".
El material es una publicación del Instituto de Investigaciones Etnomusicológicas. La transcripción de las obras estuvo a cargo de Santiago Bustos Berrondo, con edición y textos de Patricio Mátteri., bajo la dirección de Lucio Bruno Videla.
Remigio Navarro (ca. 1795 - ¿?) war ein argentinischer Komponist, Pianist und Dirigent. Er sticht als afroamerikanische Figur in der Kulturszene des 19. Jahrhunderts hervor. Er war der Dirigent des Argentino Theatre. Er hebt auch seine Uraufführung eines Strauss-Walzers in unserem Land hervor.
Ein Zitat von Mariano Bosch lautet: "Der schwarze Pianist Remigio Navarro, ein berühmter Komponist dieser Zeit, Autor der schönsten Menuette, die in Sälen und im Theater getanzt wurden, war in diesen Jahren als Komponist und Solist auf dem Höhepunkt seines Ruhms Jahre von 1830 bis 1836. Er war auch der Autor der Musik der meisten Petipiezas und nicht weniger kreolischer Melodien und Stile, und in Konzerten war er der Begleiter der Sänger ".
