    Thanks Chuck. I have a mobile home that has had issues with water for over 20 years. I am an experienced DIYer, but it sure is helpful to have access to your vast store of knowledge. One extra degree of difficulty is that temperatures in winter can come close to -40, and there is a foot of more of snow to drain as it melts in the spring. That means I need it to be well drained before frost stops the flow. If it works, after next springs thaw, I will send you the pictures. If it doesn't work, I will not admit that I went through that work for nothing. Keep up the good work!

    Great video! You have such a strong work ethic and you make what you do look a lot easier than it is! I used a roto hammer like yours to make a big hole in an inner foundation wall this weekend for an air return. It was horrible! It took me 3 hours and I’m still sore! Keep up the good work!

    You can use scoria (lavarock) instead of gravel, its lighter so easier to move around esp in tight access situations. Also cheaper normally.

    Where do you pump the water to as some sections you can’t simply pump away from the house making another sodden area. Would plumbing into a spouting down-pipe drain cope with the water?

    Back into serious mode :) Many crawl space ceilings are very low, like mine which doesn't even have room to kneel, only crawl. So were talking about digging a trench to trap water than pump it out, I have not seriously considered this but it seems to be more high maintenance and expensive to buy, install, maintain and run a sump pump. I don't think I need either but I do need to have some soil grading done as early as possible, when I get heavy rain I see puddles on the corner of the house, inside the crawspace, that area's ground gets wet/damp and it also is the area which had the most mold growth on the joists. The other areas of my crawlspace have a poured concrete patio and a driveway butted up to the crawl space foundation. The concrete patio is not at perfect pitch but I used a level to verify that there is a slight angle downward from the house. The way I look at this is that I might want to ad on a large awning, which I kinda wanted anyway, this would kill 2 birds with one stone, it would direct rain run off much farther away from the ground around the crawl space and offer shade and shelter over the patio.

    Problem need to be fix outside Fondation before water get in , fixing in crawl space is not fix its just dealing with. Same if you have valve leak inside house and you just put chanel under to drain water out and not fix or replace valve.

    • @appledrains
      @appledrains  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It may seem like that to most people. Especially if they don’t work on crawl spaces. But if you want to solve the water problem under your home, the best way is to work INSIDE . I know it’s hard to believe, but we have 100% success rate! Thanks for your comment

    Rather than coring the brick wall, I see a vent covered by styrofoam insulation and a crawlspace door opening. Why not try to use one of the existing openings in the wall instead of drilling a new discharge opening?

    • @davidp8627
      @davidp8627 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Would have probably worked better if the sump pump basin was located in front of the vent instead of two feet beside it.

    I need this at my house the house part was conpletely rebuilt but the foundation is over 100 years old so water gets in, in certain areas all flows to a low spot in the corner and pools, you can stand under my house so it isnt really feasible to dig out around the outside

    One little nitpicking correction. Please correct me if I'm wrong but your core bit is carbide tipped not diamond. There are diamond core bits but they look different and are not used with the hammer function.

    Do you have to put gravel under the bottom of the pipe?

  • @Boogieplex

    So you only need one footer pipe feeding the sump pit?

  • @davidnalley4469

    What are the determining factors in deciding to put a footer tile in the crawl space or outside around the footer?

    • @foxsox5046
      @foxsox5046 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      David Nalley the rule of thumb for me, is would you prefer digging down to the footer on the exterior or the full interior perimeter at 6-12" in depth. The interior drain guarantees a dry crawl space, I've seen a lot of exterior systems that still leech into the crawl from hydrostatics.

  • @jaybilawchuk2225
    @jaybilawchuk2225 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you slope your underground pipe that goes to your put with the pump. Is that a crucial thing? Or is all you do is just make it level, and the water will go. Sorry, this is new to me. Just acquiring a house soon, and need some tips. Thanks. Your videos are the best. Even for beginners. So many videos are so vague and unclear...not yours.

    Quick question I’ve recently built a new house and we have had nothing but rain since we’ve moved in. Not sure if the water underneath my crawl is due to the ground being so saturated or it’s because of something else. What’s your opinion? They extended my positive drain out into my yard but I’m wondering if I possibly need a sump pump.

    I've watched the video and seen the ending pipes leading outside thought, "Wow, it's time for the rodents to have a home in that crawl space!" Was I wrong for thinking that, please explain?

    • @Mote78
      @Mote78 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Syd Mg
      There’s a check valve in the line to prevent water back flow. A rodent could never open that valve while resting on it. Should it die there, the water pressure would flush it out.

    • @Mote78
      @Mote78 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anne Weber-Falk
      I think because the brick provides permanent support whereas the foam insulation would be flimsy. When the pump kicks on there’s a jolt and the line becomes quite heavy when filled with water.
