I'm glad private servers keep the game alive no matter how hard Disney tries to stop them.
I joined this server two weeks ago because of nostalgia and it's enjoyable. I love that it's on the pre-Disney version but with some extra features and games added by the devs.
The fact that I've seen players saying that they are at work while playing or that they have work but are staying up late to catch Rockhopper means that the old players on the now-defunct official server are still loving this game no matter how old they are now.

Try Club Penguin Imagined; it's much smaller of a community right now, and it is based on the newer era but it updates a lot more frequently, and they have brought some seriously fantastic additions to the game; that really truly feel like the original Club Penguin, like the Sky Tour update to Tour Guides, in which, no joke, you actually take a hot air balloon tour around the island. (which you can do Day 1 at the Tour Booth in the Ski Village.)
It's also been supported by the original Club Penguin staff; the old general manager of the original game had visited last October, and he's rumored to be reappearing sometime again soon.
