I have been through both situations.. lost my first husband because he decided he no longer loved me and he abandoned me ... crushed my heart to pieces... then an amazing man - my soulmate - my everything.. helped me put the broken pieces together again.. we married.. he was the love of my life.. and then he suddenly died of cancer... that shattered my heart into so many pieces it is now unable to be repaired. Both hurt like no words can describe.. but losing my true love to death was harder. Hardest thing I've ever faced in my whole life. I am shattered. And this song really speaks to my broken soul.
