Hi there got the clutches all apart. Everything looks good my arctic cat 2014 prowler side-by-side dies every time I try and shift it but all the collection primary wet clutch looks good not really sure where to go from here.
Thanks for sharing! I’m helping a friend replace his driver clutch in his arctic cat prowler 650! Waiting on parts now... Its a PITA! I’m glad my Wildcat xx is not that way! Probably would not of bought it! Easy access to the CVT is a must in any utv!
man i have a 2018 alterra 500 (443cc kymco) and someone replaced one way bearing and ever since it only tops out at 41 mph. the clutches look fine but have always ran very hot- cover reads 340 degrees even after 3 mins of riding. 3 rd belt and only 394 miles on it 🤷🏻♂️ any ideas?
That's weird, bearing shouldn't effect top speed unless it is to wide and not allowing the primary clutch to fully close. You might want to measure yours and try to find out what the stock width should be. Also make sure the secondary spring is in the correct position. If they tightened that spring up (more preload) it would help the bottom end and take away top speed.
EPIperformance Just finished replacing the drive belt on mine man quite a job. I made a tool to hold the primary clutch from spinning to get the nut off but otherwise went pretty good. The only thing I had a hard time finding was the torque value for the nuts. Thanks Again.
I have a arctic cat 700 hdx se 2016 what thread are the belt clutch I have been told that the motor is right hand and the transmission is left and what size socket gets the transmission nut are they lock tited from factory
The primary and secondary clutches are normally right hand thread and the wet clutch is left hand thread. A lot of machines do use locticte on the wet clutches. Hope that helps.
How Do you get an impact in there to remove the clutch nut? What size is it? And is it lefty loosy? Looks like I blew my clutch up on my 2013 prowler hdx. Is there a good upgrade
Its been a while but the sockets to remove clutches should be 32mm and 1 7/16". They should be right hand threads on the outer clutches. If your getting into the wet clutch that one is left hand threads. We dont have a replacement clutch for your machine but we do sell a clutch kit that would make the stock clutches perform much better.
I have a question about the one way bearing. One site has them for sale for $110 And another site has them for $15 Why is there such a difference between them ? And do you recommend replacing the wet clutch if the bearing surface area is mared up from the old bearing ?
I would be skeptical of the $15 dollar bearing. In Most models hey are in the 60-85 dollar range. The $15 dollar one my be a two way bearing which are normally a little cheaper but then you wouldn't have your engine braking.
looking for some info on this job, what are the torque specs on wet clutch, drive clutch and secondary clutch? info I found states 94/83 ft lbs some forum post are stating 180 ft lbs. thanks for any info.
To remove them you can normal hold the clutch by hand and buzz them off with an impact gun. To put them back on and torque properly you will need a clutch holding tool. We have an OEM tool that we would normally use. Some people use a rubber strap wrench.

Glad we could help!
The front outside nut on the primary clutch. Are both of those nuts left handed threads. Or is the outside nut right and the inside left handed ?

How did you make the tool? Welded up something to slip over the outer ridges of the clutch?
Awesome video thanks so very much.

I wish someone would have a video on rebuilding a clutch on the prowler pro xt 800.

In our notes we have 94 ft/lbs for the wet clutch, 72ft lbs for the secondary clutch and 83 ft/lbs for the primary clutch.
That innner wet clutch setup looks similar to my old wolverine rspec
Its pretty much the same idea on the wet clutch and roller primary clutch then the Yamaha
Awesome Video good job..Real easy to understand
Did you have to use a special tool to hold the clutches from spinning to remove them nuts ?

What was the number for that tool?
The clutch compression tool used in the video is CCT510.
epiperformance.com/clutch-compression-tool-cct510/
is this the same as an 07 650 h1 prowler
The actual clutch kit part number would be different for the 650 Prowler but the parts are similar and the process is the same to change them.
I can’t get the wet clutch off .... help !???
