Please, keep your dumb remarks about something you know nothing about to yourself. There are quality musicians who have seen his shows and worked with him and I think I will accept their opinions. My expectations and demand for quality are extremely high
@@mollysouth3987 No, you should keep your dumb remarks to yourself, because 3d shadow gamee is absolutely right. Clearly your expectations are low, and you are the one who has no clue what they're talking about. Judging by your latest comment you are also obviously completely deluded.
RIP Joe Cocker, who first performed this song. Taylor did him proud with this version. Each has the same raspiness in their voice, which takes it out of the pop realm. Joe was quirky, strange, but he brought the feelings! Kudos to Joe..........and Taylor.
I'm telling you, if you don't like Taylor Hicks after hearing this one performance then you must completely nuts. Taylor brought down the house and would rather listen to this than any of the crap being put out by the other IDOLs....sorry , Taylor is hugely underrated.
how i wish we could still watch and listen to taylor on tv each week. what a great time that was. and this 'beautiful' rendition is taylor at his best.
For all who have been living in the dark ages Taylor has had many successful tours across the country and abroad. He also holds the honor of being the only idol to ever receive a residency in Las Vegas. He is smart enough to invest in real estate and he has a successful restaurant in Birmingham, Al. What do you do for a living? Lol
Back in this season, the press knew Taylor would win from the very beginning. Lots of people didn't like him, but millions more did. He made everyone smile, and there has never been another season like it. Look up the numbers. What happened to Taylor was that there ensued a smear campaign from the minute he won.. I am so happy he rubbed Cowells face in it.
I'm glad this guy won. Because I haven't heard of him since and Daughtry are producing great tracks and touring the world. Thanks Taylor, you're the best.
He has finished in the Forbes Top Ten American Idol earnings the past three years. even placed higher than Daughtry did last year. Obviously soul R&B and blues isn't your cup of tea but believe it or not there is a market for it and he proves it every year.
I appreciate that people have different music tastes and perspectives, but how much you earn and the content you release are two totally different things.
Melissa Rivas Daughtry was like Nickelback light. Easy to market. Taylor on the other hand is one of a kind, gritty, authentic, hard to categorize. Daughtry may have sold more than Taylor but as a live performer, can't touch Taylor. That's why Taylor won. And by the way, "more successful" does not mean better.
I like the songwriting of both Chris and Taylor and have bought multiple albums from both. It's just that the kind of music that Taylor writes and sings doesn't usually get played on the radio. Back in the 70s he could have possibly been a big star. When classic rock singer Jesse Kinch (one of the best rock singer contestants ever) won the TV show Rising Star and got the record deal he had a nightmare time with the record company he got signed to. It resulted with Jesse getting dropped from the label without ever releasing an album with them. He wrote and recorded the song "Preaching Like the Pope" about his terrible experience with them, the complete lack of creative freedom he felt he had as the winner of Rising Star. So, not winning could have been the best thing for Daughtry. It may have given creative freedom. David Cook got to co-write a lot of songs on his post Idol album, but, that may have partly been because of Daughtry's success. And also partly because David Cook had an Indie album out before he went on Idol that got some interest from Idol fans. Eventually, the album got pulled. But, they should really just leave the Indie stuff of any Idol contestant up, so fans can check out their songwriting.
Love to come back to this video. That night, with Play That Funky Music and then this beautiful rendition of YASB................he worked it perfectly.
Taylor has moved on from Idol long ago. His fans still love him and follow him. I'll be seeing him again this month. He also has a fantastic band to support him. Let it go!
Taylor is performing at the Indigo lounge at Bally's Las Vegas 5 nights a week at 7:00 p.m.Oct. 17 through Nov. 12 and Dec. 3-16 2012. He does not appear on Fridays and Tuesdays.
@gwho I was talking about the other reviews Simon gave where he said Taylor was like a wedding singer or a karoke singer. I think Simon's positive critique for Taylor's rendition of this song was LONG overdue. I appreciate your comment... it's so good to see that people are still listening to Taylor and appreciating him.
@nighthawk584 how is taylor underrated? he won the show and is a great singer. great rendition of this song, no one can ever do it as good as joe cocker but this is a superb effort.
I agree that Taylor is very underrated. Not being liked by Simon is not the standard anyone should be measured by. I have three of his CDs and they are SO very good.
@Pemuciuse Taylor may not do all those vocal acrobatics like all the other singers but he has it where it counts in my honest opinion. He has heart, he has soul and he knows how to make a song believable. There is no faking with him, he is 100% for real, which is what a lot of the other Idol singers are lacking. I haven't seen any of the Idol contests over your way but this is my observation abou the singers over here in America. Peace and respect...
This particular season probably had the best of anything Taylor Hicks katharine McPhee Elliott Yamin Kellie Pickler Chris Daughtry it goes on and on all end up with really good stuff Taylor has done a lot of shows and casinos on that
@metallerdk I would say Taylor is much more successful, hands down. Taylor is now an owner of a new restaurant in Bham, he's an author, Broadway star, record label owner, a master blues harp player and touring musician. He has close to a million albums sold, has a RIAA platinum record award and had a #1 debut on the Hot 100 Billboard Chart. I'd say that's pretty fuckin' successful.
I LOVE THAT! "He's happy! He's happy!" *jumping up and down* Hilarious. I love Taylor and his voice...And his personality and his hair! @_@ Love ya, Taylor! ^^
Beautiful rendition of that song....to this old hippie. Thank you Taylor
My favorite idol. He just has that IT factor. Very unique. Like Elvis.
This mans voice is so good. One of a kind. Incredible entertainer.
Please, keep your dumb remarks about something you know nothing about to yourself. There are quality musicians who have seen his shows and worked with him and I think I will accept their opinions. My expectations and demand for quality are extremely high

He is also a pretty good songwriter. I like his new song "Porch Swing" and I love his Early Works album.
Ah, back in the day with Idol was filled with talent and Taylor Hicks leads the way. What a fantastic performer and singer!
my so very fav..til Adam Lambert..:)
RIP Joe Cocker, who first performed this song. Taylor did him proud with this version. Each has the same raspiness in their voice, which takes it out of the pop realm. Joe was quirky, strange, but he brought the feelings! Kudos to Joe..........and Taylor.
Joe Cocker didn't perform this song first. Billy Preston did. th-cam.com/video/Mvnz3zIcFeU/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Vargasko-Jazz%26Funk
I'm telling you, if you don't like Taylor Hicks after hearing this one performance then you must completely nuts. Taylor brought down the house and would rather listen to this than any of the crap being put out by the other IDOLs....sorry , Taylor is hugely underrated.
Taylor is a great talent. Saw him on Broadway and he is fantastic.
Taylor's best performance in American Idol 5. Still watching in 2021

I was seven or eight when I saw this on T.V. I fell in love with him and his voice... I even saw him when they went on the American Idol tour. :)
how i wish we could still watch and listen to taylor on tv each week. what a great time that was. and this 'beautiful' rendition is taylor at his best.

This performance was great.
taylor you are one of the best male vocal, love you emotion, and passion for singing and you do it so well i love the bluesy rock
For all who have been living in the dark ages Taylor has had many successful tours across the country and abroad. He also holds the honor of being the only idol to ever receive a residency in Las Vegas. He is smart enough to invest in real estate and he has a successful restaurant in Birmingham, Al. i did read hes one of the best Idol moneymakers!!! So..GOOD for him!
Yasss
He also has his own show now unrelated to singing it's actually about it food and it's good!
He is my favourite Idol and I am glad he is doing very well without the overbearing superstardom.
Diane Carter so glad to hear that! I wish radios play his songs more often
I literally had tears in my eyes when Taylor performed this on Idol. Great job, Taylor !
Back in this season, the press knew Taylor would win from the very beginning. Lots of people didn't like him, but millions more did. He made everyone smile, and there has never been another season like it. Look up the numbers.

taylor sings this directly to me, and to you, and you, and you. what a voice and what a rendition.
I love taylor!!!
What's not to love about this guy?
One of the greatest voices from AI - ever.
He's famous in Vegas baby-2 mil/ year
I spent nearly the entire season just hoping that he'd do this song - it was just such a perfect match for his soulful voice. Love it!
Awesome song
this was his winning song
Taylor you did a wonderful version of You Are So Beautiful. What a soulful performance. I'm soooooo happy you WON.
I'm glad this guy won. Because I haven't heard of him since and Daughtry are producing great tracks and touring the world. Thanks Taylor, you're the best.
chris deserved to win and whadya know!? hes STILL more successful!!! yayyyyy

I appreciate your comment... it's so good to see that people are still listening to Taylor and appreciating him.
@OrangeAni Taylor was 29 when he won Idol in '06. He's now 33. He's awesome!
I think this is his best, I definitely agree with Simon. And I actually really like Do I make you proud.

His best performance!

He's also a multimillionaire......not too shabby!!
GreAT, i love him...
Love Randy's choice for Taylor. I too have always been reminded of Joe Cocker every time Taylor went on stage
@metallerdk I would say Taylor is much more successful, hands down.
