I did some research and I read that she actually runs a B & B in the mountains. Hence, all the food she cooks is for her visitors. This explains a lot. Either way, I find these videos relaxing.

My family always laid out a clean sheet across the bed and put the pasta on it to dry, we made a lot of different kinds of pasta. I still make some but not as much as my Grandparents did with my Father. OMG that finished meal looks amazing, I want to be there eating it!!

There’s a big difference between being ‘alone’ and being ‘lonely’. Maria appears to be a strong, independent woman. I’m sure there are friends and neighbours in the village and at church that she can talk to - she may even have family living nearby. Not all women need a man in their lives.

Part of the Carphatians used to belong to Hungary, too. They still have ethnic Hungarians living there.
@@andreak4502 oh yes I forgot, I know Hungary for years and years tried to take or occupy Romanian land also!! I know in Romania there are a lot of Hungarian people. One time I went to a store in Romania, and they only spoke Hungarian I mean the cashiers. I wasn’t happy about that.

My husband sent me this. He said she reminded him of me…..always cooking, cleaning, walking and looking around. She’s hardly lonely. On the contrary, people like her keep busy and are resourceful. She is probably pretty happy. People think you have to be cheerful…hahaha sort of happy. If she is like me, she stays (happily) in her own lane.

My grandfather was from an area east of Kosice, close to the Ukrainian border. I took for granted how utilitarian and resourceful my grandparents and their neighbors were, and never tasted a cultivated mushroom until leaving for college. His parsley patch was three meters long, and spanned the entire length of their garage's southern exposure, with it's northern side dedicated to dill, and a massive 'cold frame' supplying fresh "soup vegetables" from October thru May.
'Dropky' dumplings, haluski, chicken paprikash, hurka (blood hurka, too), sirets (egg cheese at Easter), halupki, pirohi, kifli (lekvar, poppy seeds, and walnut filled) 'little cakes', and homemade noodles with browned butter and cottage cheese were staple foods for us. The shared labor to produce these dishes was an integral part of life then, as are the memories of the Slavic magic necessary to make a feast from what others considered to be 'scrap from everyday living'. Slava Ukraini!, and please know that the overwhelming majority of ethnic Slavs in my area are in full support of your efforts, both ideologically and financially.
