Why do we use TO before VERB+ING in English?

- I explain why we sometimes use TO before a gerund (T0 + VERBING). For example, "I look forward to meeting you," or "I am opposed to lying."

I have gotten a lot of information that are crucially important to know learning English language. Some verbs go with both infinitives and gerunds and some are barely either with gerunds or infinitives. But your explanation is a nicest one in a way that gerunds are working as nouns here is different . And that is totally amazing as it says why we do to + verbing in case of some verbs. Great job. Are the sentences - "I look forward to meeting you" and "I am looking forward to meeting you" same?
"I look forward to" is considered more formal.
"I'm looking forward to" sounds more personal and excited.
