Weird upside down circumstance; I'm a Black Templars player who wanted to incorporate Deathwatch and Inquisitor Greyfax, as I like their models and wanted an excuse to make some neat looking characters that are both good for wargaming and to play the Deathwatch RPG. So much value out of a couple kill teams this way, thanks for the tangential overview! I'll be checking out more of your videos as I enjoy your style of explanation.
@@luckyomen Draxus is a good inquisitor for Deathwatch to lead Deathwatch, she'll help them hit better. And she's got decent attacks herself. I'm not on Greyfax, I think she plays better into Sisters maybe.
@@RagingHorn7795 Yeah, but she's got a big hat. Plus Draxus is too Radical to be allowed near Black Templars. She'd be purged as a heretic the moment the Chaplain catches wind of her.
Played a 2k Imperial Agents game in Imperialis Fleet and having so much flexibility in deployment with Deep Strikes, Infiltrates, and redeploys is genuinely so fun. It's just a shame that the Ordo Xenos focuses entirely on shooting when the Kill Team unit is far and away better as a melee option.
I feel like Deathwatch not having the Adeptus Astartes keyword is an oversight and most reasonable players will be fine with you sticking that keyword on them. For tournament play… yeah I think this is just another notch in the “40K isn’t a serious competitive game” column lol
When people talk about how 10e feels “gamey”, this is a good example. “These space marines in your space marine army can’t get thjs arbitrary bonus for space marines because they don’t have some key word.” It’s rules for rules sake instead of trying to simulate or represent something.
It's a simple fix. Give them back the Adeptus Astartes keywords, and get the abilities back that allow Marine chatacters to lead them again, so when they're allied into marine armies, they get the bonuses, but if allied elsewhere they don't. Simple.
And/or add a "brood brothers" rule to the Ordo Xenos detachment to let them use SOME SM units. Maybe just veterans, characters, and vehicles? That, and De-Legends the other KTs with updated weapon options. Why can't the Fortis bring pyreblasters?
I think we’re probably getting another massive shakeup before long when Kill Team releases a Primaris kit that replaces the Vets similar to what we’ve seen with Vespids and Tankbustas.
I've been into Warhammer since 3rd edition and i have no idea what any of that meant at the beginning, attachment this and detachment that? I miss force detachments, essentially a minimum requirement for an army to be game legal, and you could ally any other army to them, because who the hell cares if your spacemarines work with your friend's dark eldar
Obviously, homebrewing doesn't work outside of casual games, so it's good to see you've put the thought into this Christian. It's also inspired me in regards to finishing the homebrewing for AotI. I was stuck on the deathwatch detachment, since I just finished the Arbites one I've been working on. And no, I didn't make Ordo Xenos a reskinned Blackspear. I gave that one it's own character. How does "black templar vows but %chance enemy debuffs after attacking them" sound?
@@ChristianVonCarmian40kVtuber each of the vow analogs is a D6 chance to debuff one enemy unit they hit in their last (mostly shooting) activation, with bonuses based on if that unit is ordo xenos and if the target is not chaos or imperium. One is "suppressed" or -1 to hit, another is -2 to move and charge, a third is a chance to proc battleshock tests, and the last is (ATM) shoot/fight on death.
I'm gonna try them at least once to see how bad they are. But, I have just built over 3000pts of Grey Knights infantry (which didn't take long) and they seem fun, lots of opportunities but also weaknesses due to lack of resources compared to other armies.
just play SM and get units from all chapters and their codex's paint them like DW. then play them using SM Codex and Divergent Codex, but they look like DW.
Alternative suggestion I didn’t hear: Dark Angels. Specialist terminators and bikers for the Deathwatch players that built up a collection of the more exotic veteran kill teams.
The fact GW will make a change and give an online update to let people play DW on thier own is the proof GW is a bunch of clowns who can't even manage their own game
Which one do you like? The Grey Knights have that Inquisition I as a shoulder pad…
Their lore is very different. But I like the lore of both.

I just wish we had got an actual way to play radical inquisitors with daemonhosts and stormtroopers like in the old days =\
A rule that prevents taking both puritan and radical keyword units in the same army, but needs some kind of reward for taking one or the other...
Craziness lol

that is my experience too!
This may have just solved my conundrum in how to rework the blackspear task force detachment into AotI.
My Death Watch
Look like death watch

These are very creative ideas. It shows that there are ways to play Death Watch that I didn't even consider.
A vampire is tempting me with werewolves in power armor? Impressive.
it is only temporary, I will return to unfettered Wolfman-hate in future

It's going to be interesting to see what the future for Death Watch holds. It's going to be good having some backup options.
