Do you only need to use the receiver module on devices that don't have Bluetooth built in, I have a Humax Aura 4k Freeview box with built in android TV, will this use its own capabilities rather than needing the dongle? Great vid.
Hi thanks for your video.. I just have a question about the mini keyboard I believe you said that it connects via Bluetooth also, but I can't that anywhere on the Amazon page...
Cool review. How is using the track pad on a PC? I currently have one where the track pad isn't very responsive (unsure if it si due to distance or battery life) and annoys the crap out of me.
Ye the trackpad sucks on models like that. Kinda forces you to use hotkeys as much as possible. The only thing you cand do is to lower the dpi by fn+spacebar and hope for the best.
I have one of these it's a good keyboard but this keyboard is not Bluetooth and also does not have a power function to put your Android box onto standby mode or turn the device on or off.
Sorry if this has been asked...I just bought the iX8 and am going to use it to run my CNC machine for setting it up...is the a key function for page up and page down? I need that to move the Z axis of my spindle. The direction pad with the OK in the middle works awesome for the x and y axis but the up down would also be helpful. Thanks.
@@geekanoids no worries..thanks for your reply... I stumbled upon the answer shortly after I asked you. FN button and either the up arrow or down arrow gets my Z axis moving.
Interesting little keyboard. Love the design and it seems like a useful gadget. By the way in the Amazon description it says that it is compatible with Mac OS and Amazon Stick(Special Notice: if you want to use this keyboard with Amazon Fire TV 4K and Amazon Fire Stick, you need to prepare a Micro USB host OTG cable.)
@@geekanoids It has bluetooth inbuilt. Then it should support amazon fire tv stick 4k via bluetooth. If it doesnot support amazon fire tv stick via bluetooth then does it support via usb dongle (obviously connection must be done using otg cable as it doesnot have usb port) properly & all the keys and scrolling works well?
The difference is huge depending your OS. While the X8 is awesome for navigating with the scroll wheel in most of different systems, that's also its only real advantage. Both are illuminated keys, both use the same gestures. Under Windows : Rii i8+ is a no-brainer, it does what you need you can easily use the key combinations (ALT+F4, CTRL or SHIFT+direction... its cursor keys are positionned on the right side which helps) and there are easier accessible keys, like F1 to F10 keys (where you need to press Fn on the Rii X8), and PgUp/PgDown keys! Rii i8+ also has more multimedia keys (Play/Stop, Prev/Next buttons) and shortkeys like opening a new tab in your browser or a search button to quickly change your url for example. Under Android : as I wrote earlier the Rii X8 has a very useful scrollwheel. In the end, I'd say I prefer the soft touch feel of the i8+ and the fact you can still use it on any OS. Also the Left and Right click buttons are far more accessible since they are placed on the bottom of the touchpad (and on the left side of the keyboard) unlike on X8 where they are far away from the keyboard on the top of it. Thanks for reading, these keyboards are still really good and not expensive! Thanks Dave for the video!
@@angleblue612 Hello! Since I'm using both of these mini keyboards, I'd suggest you the Rii X8 for your smart TV as presented by Dave in his video. Because it doesn't need the unecessary keys from windows and it has a wheel which is really cool. It also has the pretty colors and the keys are placed more like a traditional keyboard. But... if you want a keyboard you can use on windows (with the possibility to use the shortcuts) and on tv too, then go for the Rii i8+, for all the reasons mentioned in my previous comment. These 2 mini keyboards are good, my preference goes for the i8+. tl;dr : Rii X8 : Larger touchpad, has a mouse wheel, colored backlit, traditional keyboard layout, removable battery, Caps lock LED, micro usb Rii i8+ : F1... F10 keys directly accessible, PgUp/PgDown keys, multimedia keys (play/pause/prev/next), quick access keys, 2 luminosity levels for the backlit, soft touch feels when you press a key, better Mouse1/Mouse2 key placement, very lightweighted (mini usb, but I'm not sure if they changed that for a micro usb which would be a better choice) Both have the same battery life time (takes lots of days or weeks before being empty), same touchpad feel, have backlits and a decent wireless distance. Hope it helped! These keyboards really worth it for the price and the good quality of the plastic used. (clones have a really poorer quality)
I have this keyboard, I plugged it into Steam Link. Works very well. But the volume control on the keyboard do not work, do you know how I can fix it please ? Thank you :)
Hi. Does this definitely have Bluetooth? There is no mention of it in the Amazon link provided. I want to connect it to my firestick so Bluetooth functionality is necessary. Thanks.
This one doesn't have Bluetooth, it connects via a wireless receiver that you must plug into a USB-A port on your computer or TV or any other device you want to use with this keyboard.
Is the backlit color stays on the one where you left it before you turn it off? I just don't want to see the rainbow color every time when turn it on. For example change the color to red then turn it off. Is it stays on red when you turn on again or not? Thanks
I have two Rii minis of a previous version and they are complete nightmares to use, not matter the battery levels they constantly disconnect every few seconds meaning you cant type and using the touchpad, it drives me absolutely insane . how have you found this in terms of disconnecting ? Also the touchpads on my are verry rough for sensitivity making them a chore to use even with its not randomly disconnecting every few seconds
Great video, thanks! I am thinking about getting one for my Dad. I am worried that the buttons would be to small, he has thick fingers haha. Do you think that would be an issue? You are a guy, how did you find it?
Does this keyboard's trackpad have forced "tap to click" that cannot be turned off? I have one rii model and it drives me mad constantly clicking things when I dont want it to.
@@geekanoids Quite surprised you weren't able to answer that given your enthusiasm for it. Is it 'tap-to-click', and if so, are there issues with unintended clicks?

Hi Dave, I am having a blast with this little keyboard, but do you know how to change languages on it? I saw that yours came only with English keyboard, but mine has dual English/Russian keyboard for my parents.
