    I like the idea of Pilot/Flying J stations. It's the closest to "a gas station experience, just for EVs" that exists right now.

      I love PFJ! I just wish they support the Plug & Charge ISO 15118 standard.

      I'd go further and say the PFJ experience is superior to the standard gas station stop.

      @@DblOSmith I put a standalone comment but the TL;DR is that PFJs are safe and have lots of driver amenities to go along with the fast charging.

    Cool video. To start, love the way your car look. Just such a sweet ride. Thx for the site visits. Thinking that NEVI will get a canopy extended or something. Seems pretty tight. The one in VA, Ive been to a few times. Like the denny's. Wife & I had a nice lunch there one time while charging. Thx for the video. I enjoyed watching.

    The PFJ charging experience has been second to none for me, so far. 24/7 staffing all year, plentiful + clean restrooms, big selection of snacks, fast food on-site. Its amazing! I think the only thing better would be one of those dedicated charging hubs like Rove.

    We're all on camera every time we come out of the house, whether it's your neighbor's doorbell camera, store, atm, bank. Always at all times on camera. People just need to get over it

    Went on a road trip in the VW ID.4 over Thanksgiving. Stopped at the Flying J EVGO Chargers in Frystown Pa on the way down to Shepherdstown WV and on the way back. Both times I had to call customer support to start the charge session. The app was on my phone but for some reason I couldn't change the password. Once started the charge session was great. The ID.4 performed flawlessly an the entire trip of 700 miles over three days. Next time I'll be sure to have all the apps and passwords on my phone. Also the free charging at Electrify America was was a very nice perk of the ID.4. We bought the car that was listed as a lemon with 961 miles on it. 10,000 miles later it hasn't had a single problem!

    I was interested in the Pilot Flying J chargers because PFJ is my favorite coffee stop when I'm on the road.

    I hope all Pilot/Flying J's and Love's Truck Stop and maybe in TA will add chargers. Truck stops are the place to stop. They always have some type of food choice and it's usually open 24/7. Clean bathrooms and if you are on a long road trip and sleeping in your car, they have showers. It's the perfect places and I think it's better than gas stations.

    Great video! I Just drove the length of I81 on my way up from Atlanta to upstate NY for Thanksgiving. If you have a NACS adapter, I81 in Virginia and PA is a super easy now. I could choose stations based on which had available posts. The only hiccup I had was EA’s app completely crashed for an hour or two the weekend after thanksgiving. Great timing!
    I stopped at the EA in Staunton and it accepted my credit card on the second try but it was busy and people were really struggling.
    The Tesla, GM energy, and Circle K chargers worked perfectly and I don’t think I saw a single non working posts at any of those.
    Suggestion to anyone traveling up I81 in the EV, the Best Western in Staunton has free charging for guests. They have 4 Tesla destination units and 2 J1772. I stopped overnight on my way up.

    When asked if they can help you just say no thank you. You're not doing anything weird.

    I live in Fairfield, CT. I'm enjoying your channel. You seem like a good dude and appreciate the Equinox EV content. I have a Tesla but would like to, at some point, get a non-Tesla EV and there is so much Tesla content so it's nice to see content on a legacy company EV.

    That's funny, if I was driving an EV, my greatest fears would involve being low on charge and having the fast charger I'm at acting funny. It goes to show how a little experience with road tripping EVs changes one's perspectives.

    • @theaverageev
      @theaverageev  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It was odd for sure. If I needed a charge I would have switched chargers to see if it was acting the same. I know many GM owners that frequently use Pilot/Flying J and have never mentioned this issue. Weird!

      If you had an EV, you would know there's no such fear as you drive it for a bit. Especially now with the access to the massive Supercharger network. Even if it's not your first choice, you know it's there if you need it. Lookup maps like PlugShare and see for yourself.

    You’re in my neck of the woods now. I used this Flying J once just as a trail run since I do most of my charging at home. Proud owner of a Blazer EV RS. 😊. Looks like your at the Sheetz in Martinsburg WV, now you’re really close to my home. Hedgesville WV.

    I suggest you get some business cards and hand them to anyone who challenges you. This will make you seem more professional and official. You can include some statistics on the card - number of videos or views - and emphasize that your video will bring customers!

    Too expensive these PFJ sites. I used one yesterday, 56¢/kw. Insane! Meanwhile I can charge my Lightning for 35¢/kw at the Supercharger. These hosts need to learn to be competitive. Price gouging ain't gonna cut it.

    • @theaverageev
      @theaverageev  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Totally agree! The prices will have to come down eventually, especially as the Supercharger network continues to open.

    It's good to see that WV has finally allowed ANY DC fast chargers other than Superchargers because they like Elon's political views. Of course, Tesla did turn around and opened many of their sites to all with NACS access, so those in power are not too happy with it. But at the end of the day, nothing stops progress.
    It didn't a century ago with all that backlash, and it won't this time either.
