I sincerely think Orbit Shield is the most underrated EX skill in the game. 0 combo value, massive hitbox that lasts long enough to hit lots of enemies in a run or hit a boss twice, can do elemental damage. Genuinely nuts how good it is.
Side note, I wonder why you didn't try to use it this fight. My usual Blizzack fight uses it at the start to get two hits during the wind.

I agree, people should try using the Orbit Shield more often.
As for your question, I'm not entirely sure, I guess I just didn't think of it since I was focused on the recoil rod action for the boss fight.

I never really thought to use the shield with recoil like that, i tend to do it seperate like recoil with sword or shield with buster
