Apparently, Saiki was a bit embarrassed standing in front of the wings. And Miku did some shots shooting a red arrow... which were not included in the final MV. They had never composed an orchestral piece before but, as always, Kanami came through after researching and talking to fellow musicians. This band is so hard working! Fun fact: those are real feathers, not CGI 😊🤘
The song is great. A lot of what is in the video is from the anime Platinum End. From Miku holding the white and red arrows and the feathers falling as if angels were flying above like in the show.

The classical music intro always reminds me of the finale to Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, 'O Fortuna'...but in fact it was composed by the supreme songwriter and superb lead guitarist Kanami. Anyway, Orff was a bit of a one-hit wonder whereas Kanami only writes hits.
So just a bit of info about this video setting. This song is the opening to an anime called Platinum End. The premise of the story is that Angels come down to find a new God from select humans who are looking to end their lives. Certain angels give different powers, A red Arrow to make people do whatever you want, a white arrow to kill anyone, and wings for flight. So throughout this video, you will see feathers falling, Miku is holding a white and red arrows. You see the white and red themes throughout, Saiki with wings. They did an amazing job matching the MV to themes in the anime.

NO, the intro was Kanami :) This one was written on spec for an anime intro- it had to incorporate several things featuring in the lyrics and also a classical opening bar. great reaction btw :)
I've seen a lot of reactions to Band-Maid that run the entire video and never gets flagged. I think that the ladies want people to see their music so they must have an agreement in their contract to allow full videos to be shown. These five talented young women are so humble, there's no egos at all in the band. That's why I love each and every one of them. Glad you're back, your reactions are fun to watch.
It has been a while since I have heard a great hard rock band that puts the bass this far forward in their mix. Misa is such a great talent...I am glad they are not letting it go to waste just sitting in the background. At this point, she should be credited as playing lead bass! The only thing I want from Misa now is more smiles.....she just lights up the room when she smiles....it is just a rarity to catch it on camera!
Rednab2001, I agree with most of your comments, but since Misa doe not smile as often it is more impactful when she does smile. I agree that when any of these ladies smile, or laughs, it is a beautiful sight. But like their solos, they do just enough to keep you coming back for more.
All 3 songs on this release are excellent and very "prog-gy". Sense definitely has the best outro ... maybe the best BAND MAID outro ever only rivaled by "SHUT UP!" in Rinne. Others have already pointed out that this is for an anime so it has that "controlled chaos" thing going on :) . Shreddawg and I did a creator / reactor reaction recently ... it was an experiment but we babbled on for an hour about BAND MAID. You can definitely make it work with fans and it would be interesting :). You could have at least wished Akane Happy Birthday (12/14) ;) .
No birthday shout out for Akane, shocking behaviour. I know "Hibana" was done for the Japanese uni e-games but Mincho's opening riff with the bend is awesome.

Since he mentioned this to me, the very last word "Go" sounded like "God" to me. So, now it's like "You owe my sin. "Platinum End" is a story that when a god changes, 12 god candidates are selected as angels and fight, and the last one left is the god. The 12 god candidates fight with wings that can fly faster than light, a red arrow that grabs the heart, and a white arrow that destroys everything. The wings that appear in the "SENSE" Music Video are conscious of the wings of the god candidate, and the spotlight represents the arrow of the god candidate. If you listen again with such background knowledge, you can understand the goodness of this song further with the playing technique of BAND-MAID.
P.s People who say you should turn on subs are WRONG. If you actually read them to the point of understanding what the song is about you will have missed 70% of the detail of the music! You can check lyrics out yourselves later. I'd much rather have your reaction and appreciation to the song than just a lyric analysis! So dont appologise you cant pay attention to the song while reading the lyrics- NOBODY can- and you do right to focus on the music. These people asking for that are forgetting they are coming at it from the perspective of someone who has heard the song loads and is very familiar with it.
It might be hard to find, but the song Puzzle, there are 3 versions - studio, live and acoustic. This is an amazing comparison of what they can do with just one song. A real tribute to Kanami's musical and compositional talent.

The intro I believe is all Kanami. In an interview they said the anime show people wanted a "classical" intro. Remember Kanami studied piano form when she was 3yo!. Apparently Band Maid is now the #1 Rock/Meta band in Japan, per Saki in an interview with Herman Li. They always been my #1. You guys NEVER fail to entertain. I love the idea of having a "Fan Call Friday", you would be innovators if you did that. One thing I would like to see is the object of your reaction being full screen and you minimized. I am sure it's possible to set things up so that if you pause the object to make a comment, your own screen would go to full size. But a lot of the videos you react to have stuff going on in the background of their shots.. Band-Maid is one of these. And full production videos like from Sabaton or Epica, it's almost a given. However, in the end it's really all about you two making the reactions fun. BTW: Congrats on the new equipment, watched the build and because I am a techie, slowed down about 10 minutes of the show to .25 speed, so I could watch more detail.. especially the liquid cooling system. Great reaction! Sense is an amazing single, and the B-side is just as amazing. Gary will try to convince you that Hibana is the best song on the single, but don't believe his propaganda. Corallium is clearly at the top (within a tiny margin). I would rank them Corallium > Hibana > Sense.
This is the theme song for the Anime Platinum End! It appears anytime Band-Maid is contracted to do a song for Anime or a video game the song is completely different from what one expects from Band-Maid. Band-Maid is Jimmy Page approved!!
Sense is an interesting one. 1 thing about the band is 1 song will also keep you guessing with their changes. Believe it or not, it's not the best on their recent EP of 3 songs. Listen to Hibana. No MV for heavens know why. It's a brilliant song with all of the Band Maid creative trademarks. Very catchy creativity packed in to a 3.40 minute beauty. Rinne, Choose Me, Bubble or Don't you tell Me Live or Onset live for more MV's and I disagree with others comments re the lyrics, you don't need to know about the lyrical content in the 1st watch. There's so much going on in the clip, why bother. It's 1 for the 2nd or 3rd watch. Doesn't always tie in with the musical content due to translation.

Ignore the comments about subtitles. For me one of the precs with Japanese music is that I DON'T understand the lyrics. It makes the vocal performance a whole new dynamic where the story telling becomes even more important. Since I discovered the Japanese music scene I've found loads of music from all over the world just because I've realised not understanding can be a positive.

On the single beam light on Misa. I think they shot the light, then Misa. Set a key on the screen and shot a 3rd shot with a reflection where her back would be, maybe a gauss? It doesnt look like it was a post VFX, but actual effect of reflection. Great to see you kids back ;)

This song "SENSE" was written and composed by BAND-MAID as the theme song of the anime "Platinum End".
"Platinum End" is a story that when a god changes, 12 god candidates are selected as angels and fight, and the last one left is the god.
The 12 god candidates fight with wings that can fly faster than light, a red arrow that grabs the heart, and a white arrow that destroys everything.
The wings that appear in the "SENSE" Music Video are conscious of the wings of the god candidate, and the spotlight represents the arrow of the god candidate.
If you listen again with such background knowledge, you can understand the goodness of this song further with the playing technique of BAND-MAID.

It might be hard to find, but the song Puzzle, there are 3 versions - studio, live and acoustic. This is an amazing comparison of what they can do with just one song. A real tribute to Kanami's musical and compositional talent.

The intro I believe is all Kanami. In an interview they said the anime show people wanted a "classical" intro. Remember Kanami studied piano form when she was 3yo!.

You guys NEVER fail to entertain. I love the idea of having a "Fan Call Friday", you would be innovators if you did that. One thing I would like to see is the object of your reaction being full screen and you minimized. I am sure it's possible to set things up so that if you pause the object to make a comment, your own screen would go to full size. But a lot of the videos you react to have stuff going on in the background of their shots.. Band-Maid is one of these. And full production videos like from Sabaton or Epica, it's almost a given. However, in the end it's really all about you two making the reactions fun. BTW: Congrats on the new equipment, watched the build and because I am a techie, slowed down about 10 minutes of the show to .25 speed, so I could watch more detail.. especially the liquid cooling system. Great reaction! Sense is an amazing single, and the B-side is just as amazing. Gary will try to convince you that Hibana is the best song on the single, but don't believe his propaganda. Corallium is clearly at the top (within a tiny margin). I would rank them Corallium > Hibana > Sense.

Sense is an interesting one. 1 thing about the band is 1 song will also keep you guessing with their changes. Believe it or not, it's not the best on their recent EP of 3 songs. Listen to Hibana. No MV for heavens know why. It's a brilliant song with all of the Band Maid creative trademarks. Very catchy creativity packed in to a 3.40 minute beauty.

and I disagree with others comments re the lyrics, you don't need to know about the lyrical content in the 1st watch. There's so much going on in the clip, why bother. It's 1 for the 2nd or 3rd watch. Doesn't always tie in with the musical content due to translation.

Ignore the comments about subtitles. For me one of the precs with Japanese music is that I DON'T understand the lyrics. It makes the vocal performance a whole new dynamic where the story telling becomes even more important. Since I discovered the Japanese music scene I've found loads of music from all over the world just because I've realised not understanding can be a positive.
