    I just stumbled into these videos being searching for this subject and I am excited and pleased to find you. I must say this is so fantastic and you are an outstanding professor, your way of explaining this complex subject looks very simple and easy to understand. Thank you so much.

    You are an excellent teacher and your utube videos are a huge help to me as I take an intro GIS class. My professor thanks you as well.

    Just wanted to tell you that I am SO grateful for your video lectures! It has been so difficult for me to gain the information. Reading a textbook without the background information you are putting in place is frustrating. Also, I have several reasons including other people who have not been able to get clear answers from their own professors. I see you don't have many comments: I don't know what that means. I hope you are glad that you made these videos and I think that some day you will get a wider audience!

    Is this playlist missing a video that talks about Longitude, prime meridian, and int'l date line? The previous video was on Latitude.

      Answering my own question. It seems these videos about Longitude should be viewed prior to this one above: th-cam.com/video/R0r1jX6Ma8U/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/tnpPenjd8JY/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/o4pktK4-Vu4/w-d-xo.html

      @@craigallyn Yeah, it was not impossible the playlist might be out of order. I will see if I can get the playlist swapped around. Thank you!

    Is there any convention for rounding when you perform these conversions from DMS to DD? If I convert 35 degrees 37 minutes N to DD I get 35.616(repeating) degrees N. Depending on where I round my answer I can make it look like there is greater precision to the coordinate. I've been searching for any rules regarding how to round in these conversions but I can't find any

    But then no one does this and adds the Feet and inches at the end? How to figure an exact Precise location.

    32 plus .76 plus .005 is equal to 32.772? It doesn't make sense to me.

      Did I make a mistake? It is possible, but just went back and looked at my math, and I came up with about the same thing. Remember that we are working with some repeating fractions here. I included that when I was adding things together. 32 + 0.76666 + 0.005555 = 32.772215.

    So if I have N31 21.1851 and W157 40.5580, what form is this in?

    • @GeoMindzcom
      @GeoMindzcom  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That seems like some kind of hybrid notation. You would have to check your notes, but could be that it is giving whole degrees and then the minutes with fractional minutes as the decimal (rather than giving the seconds)?

      GeoMindz.com yea I guess they gave me a typo or something so I had to ask them again.
