Before you go through all this trouble try blowing the port out with compressed air after spraying a shot of QD electronic cleaner. Use a tiny flathead screwdriver to gently and carefully move thin cotton fabric or paper shop towel over the contacts, or use a clean toothbrush, then another shot of cleaner and air. I did all of the above and my old charging port works again. Edit: The phone stopped charging again so I repeated the above procedure and did the same with the charging cable plug and this fixed the problem.
It is impossible to take off the display. It is glued so tight the only way is to brake it. Therefore there is no possible way to change the dock port without also replacing the whole screen. The guy is very misleading. Looks like he already had a new screen before he made the video. Not very honest because after I broke my screen I saw a proper video that explains that you have to break the screen to get to the dock connector.
@@GogoTech i got the glass out based on another walkthrough, then came back to your video as well. Heating the glass and prying is a nasty process. If you do remake the beginning (or if other phones are similar), note that the opening around the battery is also glued, and you need to push in the battery opening too or risk breaking. My phone glass was cracked, but i managed to do it with nothing but a very minor chip where the crack met the edge! Thanks for your help.

The hardest part BY FAR is removing the glued-in glass front. But u dont show that and i had to go elsewhere.
