Now I realise how hard this song must be to perform, BTS just makes it look easy. They still killed it though, props to them for even trying to perform this song they're all super talented.

I'm not meaning to be hateful, but can't we as an ARMY compliment them without having to shove in that BTS is better? These boys are on here working their asses off because they want a comeback for their group. The groups on this show aren't very popular, and a lot of the artists use this show to challenge and push themselves to see what they can do. They did a good job. Period. No need to say "They did a good job BUT BTS is better." No. A cover will never be like the original. We all know this, but don't criticize these boys for their hard work. Learning the fire dance in a week or two took a lot of work and I'm proud of all of these boys. They did good. No need to say anymore

Guys please. I know there's a lot of ARMYs here but you can't compare bts with these guys. Firstly because of the difference in experience, secondly because bts made the song and they adjusted everything to suit their voices. We all know this is a hard song to cover and considering how much time they were given to prepare it it was amazing. Stop complaining that it had "no emotion" or "no depth". They were nervous and singing while dancing is damn hard. They absolutely nailed the dance and the singing was overall good. Compared to other performances in the show and other covers of fire, I think this is on a whole other level. Please respect them.

I know this one's too late but it would really look easy for bts to pull "fire" off. Aside from it is their song, it is made to fit their character and skills, ofc. However, this boys isn't bts. Their characteristics are different.

I'm an Army and these boys really surprised me, their vocals are really great and the dance was on point as well. You have to watch this performance without trying to see BTS, just like that you can enjoy it and see how talented they are.

This was amazing. I’m a bts army so at first it sounded weird (?) because I’m so used to only bts performing this song and how their voices aren’t as deep as rap lines but OVERALL THEY DID SO GREAT IM IMPRESSED. This song is really difficult to perform and they did amazing

Hangyul didn't get much screen time in the unit but he manage to be final line... At the beginning produce X 101 he not get much screen time but still manage to survive.. Glad to saw him grow & be recognise by people.
This is a difficult song to pull off, the dancing was ok but the vocals are lacking power, i don't think this kind of style suits them in my opinion, hopefully they'll do better next time.

Agreed. Like at 3:37 when they said fire, it seemed almost empty...if that makes sense. Like they said it perfectly, but there wasn't any depth or strong emotion. At 1:19 that sounds really different compared to when Suga/Yoongi says it. When that guy walked towards the centre at the very beginning, it kinda looked like he was rushing, when it's supposed to look more chill and laid back

Lol, even if you have "backup vocals", you can still tell if the singer's good or not, unless the music overpowers the voices. Not to be rude, but not to sugar coat anything either, their cover wasn't that good. They looked tired when dancing afterwards, and their vocals weren't strong. Had no emotion either. If you don't understand what we're saying, then you must be awfully "loyal" or something to these guys

When they started singing I was like “ omg their voices sound so cute uwu I cenat” I’m an army myself and I think they did a good job since they aren’t BTS. They just covered their song. A cover doesn’t mean that it has to be the same. I like how they were imitating the swag of BTS (well obv since they covered their song) but instead they turned cute hihi

V's voice is the hardest to imitate. The choreography is hard and ur voice must be stable while dancing so hard.. This group did well. U can clearly see that they are great dancers and trained for it. BTS owns this song but they did their best. BTS will be proud.

I just wanna say that this just proves how BTS performs with so much power in this particular song. Not only by the deep growling or force of their voices in the vocal AND rapline but the strength in their choreography and their overall hype personas. How tf do they make it look so easy? Honestly, the fact that Jin and Namjoon kept up with this as well??? Impressive. Idk, i'm just babbling but I just think that it's very clear on why BTS is so popular now and why it's nearly impossible to imitate them. I dont think people should be comparing this group to bts, who originally sung this song. Mainly because, it's their song. They are the standard. Second, this group might be singing the same song but they are aiming to have their own identity in the stage. Third, they didnt practice for the song that long. They didnt have ample time to reevaluate themselves. Armys need to chill down. Bts is bts and no question at that. T hey are great and cool.
This unit did a great job. They deserve to be praised for just being themselves in the stage and that's what made them good performers.

I know Im late but I think they did good. I think the reason why people where saying it lacks vocals or something is because their voice doesnt match the song. Its a completely different style. I think they did well on the dancing too. Since Fire is something that's hard to dance. Its good. And this is coming from an army. They took Rains advice and made it to their own voice, they didnt copy the originals. They got the criticism from the member of our fandom (who is either blind, or didnt think farther) because they didnt sound like BTS. They sounded like themselves.

Fun fact for the salty ARMYs who are just here to crap all over this performance: Suwoong was originally with BigHit and was actually supposed to debut as a member of BTS! He even recorded for the album and did the photoshoots! But for whatever reason, that lineup was scrapped, as often happens when Kpop groups are being put together, and he ended up joining Boys' Republic, another great group that debuted at the same time as BTS, and for a while, Boys Republic and BTS were considered rival groups. But they never got that lucky surge of popularity that BTS did and disbanded earlier this year. Suwoong however has stayed good friends with BTS, and he's especially close to Jungkook. That's actually why he chose this song - because he loves BTS. He was also in the team that did an amazing performance of Butterfly in the next mission.
So, congrats, ARMYs! I bet your oppas would be so proud to know you're insulting their good friend and former fellow trainee.

Why people get mad when others give their opinion of a group singing another group song. This is what the program is about and it doesn't matter whether they practice for a day or weeks.
If you going to sing or dance another group song make sure you look at the details and practice to the fullest so you can minimize your mistakes.
By someone giving their opinion doesn't separate their friendship.
J-hope did the same even though he said they all did good but the person who did jimin's part was the best, then he told them what to do. If you want to learn and be better sometimes you have to accept being wrong or that you don't know it all. They can never be BTS but they are idols so they have to put their best foot forward in order to be notice also .
Why are they all trying to do BTS songs out of the blue cuz everyone wants to be love, accepted and to be notice like be BTS. BTS is being love in the Western world because of their messages they present through their songs, mini movies, energetic moves and to top it off their care, humbleness, playfulness, and love they have among themselves. BTS is more than making money and just singing any song. Bighit is a genius to be able to allowed these boys to pull out their utmost feelings about their lives knowing he was going to be rejected by South Korea Society. They don't want out siders to know the negative side in the system. Young people committing suscide and you don't see or hear them talking, or singing about it. There are so many ways to protest as a artists or idol without matching in the street.

I'm going to say this here just because it's a thing I've been noticing in the past 2 years or 3 and this made me think again. Whether if it's a guy or girl group of trainees or rookie idols that's on these shows or promoting, I've noticed that their voices are strangely high pitched. Not all of them, but majority of them now do. Maybe people's voices have changed over the years? But before in the older groups' first few years or even when they first debuted, it was rare for them to have really high pitched voices. Sure, puberty may be the reason to why their voices. Someone please tell me I'm not the only one who has noticed

Yeah definitely for males singers. There’s been a lean towards tenor singers over baritones, and the songs are moving more into their range too. Guess it’s easier to impress with high notes.
f Forecast i guess. But personally, it's impressing to me if a male singer cab bust out really low notes. Ken from vixx usually sings many high notes, his voice is strong, but in fantasy, ths beginning verse, those low notes were the best. Taehyung's low vocals in bts songs give me life. There's depth in their voices unlike the people who only do high notes. I admire those low notes so much.

Same. It's great but that part didn't give me that powerful vibe like Tae did. I'm not saying he should imitate tae's voice cause it's honestly ok for me. But the covers made by different people made me realize how powerful V's voice really is. Even when V had like one line x100000 in fire, it was still the killing part of the song. Of course it's ok if they didn't performed Tae's part that powerful, but they still did great considering that choreo was really hard.
the 'everybody say la la la la' is a bit eh.. but great job anyway ^^

Coming back to view this after a few months.
This was an excellent cover, and I'm really proud of all of them. Especially Sungjun, Jude, and Suwoong.
1) Before you ARMYs come at me, keep in mind that Fire was literally tailored to fit BTS. The key. The vocal range. The phrasing. The phrases and lyrics themselves. It's their song. Literally. No other group will be able to compare on a vocal level because of this. And it's the original. Of course you're going to prefer their version. Guess what, you're psychologically inclined to prefer their version regardless because you heard it first and you're going to compare all other versions to it.
1b) But seriously, no two voices are the same. No one will be able to sing this song like BTS. Don't even try to compare them vocally. It's like comparing an apple and a tomato.
1c) BTS also makes it look easy. They'reused to performing it, and they practiced for months. They make it look super easy. How long did this group have to learn and practice (and change the choreo to fit 9 people)? A week? Maybe a little more, maybe less?
2) Additionally, they're not as quiet as you think. They have little to no backtrack. And no backing vocals. This is live. 100%. BTS, during most of their stages, had some sort of backing vocals. Most kpop groups use backing vocals when performing. Even when performing "live". It's a dirty trick and a dirty secret, but it's true. It makes the song sound louder, especially over the fanchants we usually hear, and whatever other noise occurs during recording/performing.
3) Dancing while singing and rapping isn't easy. At all. Why don't you go ahead and try it sometime, see how it works for you. Can't dance? don't worry. Go for a jog or run on a treadmill. Maintain the song's speed and sing along. Can you sing and rap perfectly while doing one very simple and very repetitive motion with your legs? No? Congrats. They're dancing. Actually dancing. Cut them a little slack.
4) BTS is the IT group right now. Don't say "don't cover BTS songs" because literally everyone wants to. Like how a couple years ago, everyone was covering Exo's Growl or Call Me Baby. It's a way of paying homage to BTS and it's a way to show off skills. And they do have skills.
5) Please don't make me get started on the training time of some of these individuals. I know some of them have been idols for a few years, but others only debuted a couple months before that broadcast. And you can't hold that against them when these boys all come from small, fairly unknown agencies that have little resources and may or may not be capable of obtaining good instructors and coaches. Training on your own time only goes so far. A student may only be as good as the teacher they're trying to surpass.

Sometimes I can’t help getting frustrated when watching covers because I’m naturally already biased towards BTS’s performances. Nobody can do it the way they can.
But that’s exactly the point. I recognize that, with groups such as this one, it’s unreasonable to try to compare them to BTS in such a manner. Because they’re unique too.
They made this performance of “Fire” their own. And that’s what I most appreciate about how they executed it. I am in awe of not only the technical aspects (this is such an exhausting song and dance to perform, not to mention the little time they had to memorize and practice it and adapt to the different vocal range and group dynamic-I mean, BTS, who made this song for themselves and have spent years together, had to practice for at least a month to get it down), but also how they chose to express themselves on the stage. They didn’t try to be BTS; they performed it while trying to be their own best selves, and that makes this a completely different performance. It also makes it totally unfair to them and their hard work to write it off as a subpar version of BTS.
Yes, objectively speaking, there were tiny spots that might have seemed a little weak, but people are only ruining their own enjoyment of this amazing performance by trying to use those to compare them to BTS. Because, really, even with all of BTS’s advantages, BTS also have times when they falter and make mistakes, WHICH SHOULD BE OKAY CUZ THEYRE HUMAN. And these boys are too.
(Also, to be honest, I don’t find having a backing track a “dirty secret.” I don’t agree with complete lip syncing, but I can understand why idol groups would want a backing track to support their vocals while they’re performing. Because as you said, it’s just that hard to maintain perfectly stable vocals while also executing the dance perfectly. Some people might feel that it’s cutting corners and not as sincere, but I personally don’t mind it, especially since many do so in order to deliver both good auditory and visual aspects of their performance. But that’s just me.)
I agree with you. But pliss dont say it a DIRTY TRICK cuz it is not a TRICK. everyone in a kpop industry know about tht. Literally everyone used it to make the performance perfect.

I love their performance tbvh. I just thought that BTS made their sngs hard to cover not just because of their dance and energy but they always make it like their very own(if that makes sense) that if someone covers it sounds so different. BTS put different colors and flavors in their song that its like copyrighted on their name. Just like Boy in Luv now this

Tbh, I wasn't sure why there was an overload of people in the room for the Fire song. I would had avoided it like a plague. You either need a backtrack to this song or a huge power of vocals. The rap sounds a bit thin on the vocal.

@@akira4362 They're not a group, this is a "mission" from the survival show, The Unit, where idols from less popular groups were trying to gain recognition. They're all from different groups and only had a week to put this performance together.
The subtitles on their closeups at the end tell you their names and what group they're from.
This is such a hard song to pull off like suga part “fire” didn’t sound right and jimin “Lalala” I give credits to them but no one is like BTS !!

The moves were powerful and they really did a great job, in my opinion there ain't any mistakes in their performance even if they do have mistakes i would definitely not point them because performing your own song on stage is quite difficult for any idol's and just imagine performing a song cover of biggest boy band how nervous they might be and how hard they might have worked to do their best.

I think BTS themselves would be really proud :) BTS songs are not easy to sing, nor are they easy to dance. Especially for "Fire", it is extremely expressive, extremely aggressive, and involves lots of emotion and feel to it. It's pretty much a flex song that needs to make people scared, and it's hard to even pull it off as well as BTS, but these guys did it just as well as them :)
