    Was in Spain this past April and had the chance to take the Renfe high speed rail from Madrid to Barcelona. Took your suggestion to purchase my ticket online from Trainline a couple of weeks prior. I have to say I had a great overall experience. The train ride was fast and smooth. The trip took two hours and 30 minutes. Great way to travel.

    Hi Tony, we are in Madrid via the High speed train from Murcia. Your advice is so great we have been on the free bus and loved it. Thank you for your advice. We have 3 days left and have a list of your recommendations. Long walk to the cable car only to find it closed for maintenance 😭.

    Okay, good to know. Thanks for this info. On my stay in Granada last week, i found out it had one lightrail tram line and a trainstation with trains all going to where i didn't want to go to. My 2nd stay was in Alcala la Real and understandibly i thought there would be a small stopper train branch line to Cordoba stopping by at Alcala la Real as well, but no... that is done by buses that btw travel only 2 times on Saturdays! So i had to take a taxi in some occassions where i could see hi speed trains fly by from out of the taxi window, but i was not on it. I hope they extend the train network with more branch lines and connecting the 4 areas together.
    Nice note though, the tramline of Granada might be extended to the airport, which would be awesome.

It is unclear to me on the few maps I can find which seat numbers face forward in the direction of travel. I am trying to buy a ticket for a seat that faces forward from Madrid to Seville, but I am not confident I am making the right decision when I view the maps of the carriages. I don't want to sit backward for almost 3 hours. Thanks in advance for whatever clarity you can provide! 🙏

      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello there, we would love to but we regret to inform that are not going to make a video, nor answers questions, on the issue you mention for several reasons:
      - here in the channel our resources are limited and we always focus on content that will be long-lasting. We are not going to devote our limited resources to a short-term scheme.
      - it is an incredibly complex scheme, as you have already discovered.
      - it is a scheme designed for locals, not for tourists. That doesn't mean tourists can make use of it but there are many restrictions in force that will prevent many from doing so.
      - it is a scheme designed to help commuters, so unless you commute often on the same stretch of line (minimum of 16 trips during the period), you're unlikely to make much out of it. In the case of local trains, those 16 trips can be on different lines, but again, it's quite a lot of train travel.
      In case you're interested, here's the info on the scheme in Spanish: www.renfe.com/es/es/grupo-renfe/sociedades/renfe-viajeros/abonos-renfe
      P.S.: anyone talking about free train travel for tourists in Spain is click baiting.

    Hola Don Tony and Dona Cecilia! I'm hoping you can help me sort out a decision :) My husband and I need to get from Granada to San Sebastian on Nov 5th. It seems like my options are fast train GRA to MAD, and then regular train to SS. Do you recommend we try the corridor connection between the Granada-Madrid-Zaragoza, and then take a slower train from Zaragoza to San Sebastian? Or would this be more difficult/complicated for us newbies? Thank you for your help and a million thanks for your detailed and oh-so-thoughtful videos. Kind regards, Andrea and Jon

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Andrea and Jon. To avoid having to change station in Madrid (from Atocha to Chamartín, you would have to allow time for that change), it would seem better to try Granada-Zaragoza and then Zaragoza-San Sebastián. The problem is that there are very few trains running per day between Zaragoza and San Sebastián, check the schedules to see whether you can make it work. All the best.
