  • Probably one of my most in depth videos. If you want to learn how to fish the paste well this is the one for you. I go into detail about the rigs, mix, pluming & much more

    Tried paste today for the 1st time, a real learning curve with some success. Using pre maid rigs was a mistake early on as they generally shot a float at evenly down to the hook. The issue here is that when shipping out with your paste in the cup, the weights swing about all over the place and caused terrible tangles. I resorted to making my own rig with one shot 4 inches from the hook. However after watching Bens video , I will shot directly below the float next time. I tried a rig with no weights, only the paste to make my float stand up, this method worked as I knew as soon as my paste came off the float would lay flat on the surface. I netted 11lb of larger roach using this method while my friends netted double that in carp using the method feeder. Although the temptation was to revert to the method feeder rod, I stuck to the pole and paste as I feel sure it will see improved returns once I master the system. Thanks for the video Ben, most helpful.

    A useful video, with some key points to work to, tall pot, pellets to inside so that the paste does not stick to the pot whilst adding a feed to munch over, correct side to turn pole to avoid tangles and key point about fish making swim deeper as they munch around.

    Hi Ben,
    Me and the mrs are new to paste fishing and I’m getting confused about the shooting of the float, how would you shot a .3g paste float and where would you position the shot ?
    Cheers and thanks for looking.

    Hi Ben love all you information mate. So are the 2 shots just below the float there just so make it self cock? And generally when pole fishing are you trying to fish dead depth if your using the paste to take the float tip lower into the water?

    • @Angling4U
      @Angling4U  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes fella shot helps when using a buoyant float so the hook doesn't pull though the paste

    To give me more confidence with paste is it worth putting on a hook with a band or quick stop to give the paste more to grip to, or even use a pellet and mould the paste round it. Or is that cheating.😂

    • @Angling4U
      @Angling4U  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      nah don't need to leave a small tag of line behind the knotless knot on the hook. its then about getting the correct plumbing up.

    • @Angling4U

      Sometimes difficult when down the edge due to carp coming in an out. I tend to feed this to avoid this.

    • @Angling4U
      @Angling4U  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      depends on the peg or the wind but average is 6 to 8 inch se below for paste on the waggler.

    Great videos Ben, newbie to paste question, how long does the paste stay on the hook? Does it break up into the water like groundbait? Hate to be sat there with an empty hook! Cheers steve

    • @Angling4U
      @Angling4U  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      depends on how much fish are in your swim for sloppy around 3 to 4 mins but that's why no shot down the line as the paste registers it will pull down the float as the paste dissolves the float will rise you will then able to tell that the paste is off. Hope this helps.

    • @Angling4U
      @Angling4U  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say anything over 5ft with sloppy is no good you could with stiffer but you would need a tell tale shot around 3inch from the hook to add some striking weight
