Thank you for keeping history alive, even up here at 9k in Colorado we are building a animal rescue and small mining/history museum, I have dug CW relics for about 20y but not consistently, and 10y of pioneer and calvary relics in CO. And definitely want to display and have the knowledge to share the history! Wishing you all the best! Nice Burnside find I was thinking the same about the casing for it, it may have been kept by the soldier?
Wow, 9K in elevation....I bet it gets cold and snowy there....I would love to see it though. I love western history and would be looking for arrowheads out there or old mines. The casing has to be near there....we were right on the property line so it could be across that fence. The permission was obtained for the adjacent farm so maybe lots there.
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives good luck with the casing ! We've already gotten snow and 4x4 trails off road hit a couple feet of snow in drifts above 10k. Next year we'll be hosting folks to come out and prospect, we have 1000s of abandoned mines and 100s of ghost towns all over, some not even on 1903 maps, alot from the mid 1850s+. My top dig would be a CW buckle, being alot moved her after the war! Welcome anytime here friend!
My cousin and I talked last night. He lives in Montana and works in Yellowstone and sent me photos of snow there...amazing. I have been to Colorado and places remind me of here. Beautiful country. I am trying to get a trip to Montana to do some fly fishing and gold prospecting....next summer.
I’m a senior, a new subscriber. Really enjoyed your video and narration of the civil war history. Your place you discovered was certainly looking like a camp site. Lot of good finds. Want to say, it’s great to see young Staton along, I was tagging a long with my dad when I was young. And to this day still have great memories. My dad, a muzzle loader enthusiast, went out to shoot all the time, and I was fortunate enough to be able to shoot as well, Kentucky rifle and also including a 58 cal musket
Another historical video with the back ground to boot. Nice you and Michael found unique treasureesome find on the bullets Todd. Keep them coming. A must to go back to. Take care.
That is absolutely crazy Todd to think that you were out detecting a schoolhouse and through an article and your finds you find a civil war Skirmish site!!! Way to go down in history Todd!!!! I truly truly mean that!! God bless!!
Thanks Lori. It was a lucky find. The landowner has gone out there and found so many Civil War artifacts. I was happy to stumble upon the site....wish I could have gone back.
Great video Todd, the historic preamble at the beginning gives the video context. Also when a soldier had damp cartridges they were discarded or melted in the campfire and draw fresh dry cartridges from the keg. Look forward to the next video.
Howdy Todd, What a thrill that must have been to start discovering those cool civil war artifacts. Thanks for sharing the story behind the site. It made for a great video. Take care buddy.
Awesome Todd. It's always an amazing an exciting day when you discover an old civil war camp. You just donwant yo leave it. It don't get much better then that. Unless you find buried treasure, like a bag full of gold coins from the civil war. Lol. Right. Great video Todd. An you know, that when you get a chance to go back an detect this permission at a later time/day you will find even more civil war relics. Your on it now. Awesome Todd. Congrats on all of your finds. (Happy day). Have an awesome weekend. An we shall catch you on your next detecting adventure Todd. As always safe and happy hunting/digging.😁👍👍
I tell you Richard, finding that Burnside to me was like pulling out a gold coin. It was unexpected and unanticipated. We found these at the very end of the day and we know there is more there and on the adjacent farm. Another trip.....eh...
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives That's awesome Todd. I would have felt the same way Todd. It's so exciting when you find something that you just wasn't expecting to find. That's the whole fun of detecting, as well as Knowing that everything we find has a story to tell. Although when you get lucky an stumble upon a civil war camp that takes the cake. I know you guys will find many more civil war relics the more you detect that area. An the surrounding areas. Can't wait to see what all you uncover from the camp. 😁👍👍
Awesome day. As I say all the time. We just never know what is laying under our feet. You all did a lot of digging. Definitely has a lot of evidence. You guys proved that. Keep digging at that spot as much as you can. Happy to see you got someone to dig with. Thanks for sharing.
You got that right! I've already asked Michael to let me know when I can go back with him.....LOL. He is buying an XP Deus II so competition will be tough.
Hello from Knoxville. All I can say is WOW. That was amazing what a great hunt. I wish I could do some detecting this week but I have to go to New York City. I will when I get back. I also will be watching for your next video. Do you think you will ever be back at that site again? I hope so. Be safe.
New York eh? I hope I get invited back. It isn't my permission and with me finding the site, I'm sure they will want to go in there on their own....I hope I get invited back....the site is right on the property line so Michael just got the next permission next door.
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives I hope you do to. My daughter lives in New York City and she is getting married next September. I’m going with my wife to see my daughter and they are going to some place in Manhattan shopping for a wedding dress. I’m sure it will cost me a small fortune. I’m glad to see my daughter because I don’t get to see her very often. I also know this is a great time of year for detecting, not to hot or cold. I hope you get to go show them how to find civil war relics. Have a great week and thanksgiving with family.
Sometimes. I used to keep them all separated but had bags and boxes everywhere. The common items I keep together but I do have dividers that I label the place, the object and approximate year.
I changed the Thumbnail and really need to change it back. Here is the link to Part 1: A simple one room school the site of an undiscovered Civil War battle th-cam.com/video/oL_x8wlzo8Q/w-d-xo.html
Thanks Gordon. I tell you when that first bullet revealed itself I just was shocked beyond belief given how far out we were. I'm still amazed they fought in that area.
Todd, Will you be detecting that site again? Michael is very knowledgeable on Civil War items. My nephews are descendants of McClelland, Lincoln had problems with Him, probably not a bragging mention ,eh? Cheers, Rik Spector
Hey Ken thanks for your positive support. We have carried on conversations outside of social media and time heals old wounds. I honestly had no idea my comments to questions from my fans on the MineLabs performance in the videos would spark what it did. I should have been wiser for who my audience is.
This find was NOT by chance you understand. A story of life & of death wants to be told & remembered. How emotional & difficult for the father. I pray the son here did not feel like he disappointed his father. Maybe its taken this long for him to understand things. Wonderful, regardless the reason it was left to you to interpret for the country. Good Job!

The only shame of it is Aquachigger had to make a big deal out of Todd's MineLab comments to questions from his fans. Chigg burned those bridges with his video and why I wouldn't advise Todd or any channel creator to shoot videos with him. He has become a POS.
Now be nice Joker...I should have considered more maturely what I wrote. I had not idea it would spark the lashing and response. We bantered a lot and my comments were almost solely about the MineLab and I thought it would drive his competitive spirit rather than the opposite. I hope he also learns that publishing videos on everyone who makes him look or feel bad is also immature. Sometimes the right thing is to suck it up and move on.

I’ve seen that hook thingy before somewhere. Maybe on a wagon
I thought so too. It was too stout to be a coat hook. I've seen hooks like that mounted to sides of wagons for rope and buckets, and lanterns.
Awesome stuff again

Plugging away.
Wow!! Awsome!
It’s not a “shot” bullet, it’s a melted bullet…troops would commonly use bullets to start camp fires
They definitely were melting bullets there.
