    Thanks Mike. As an amateur drummer who sits in from time to time this is really a great learning video for me. It’s nice to see that a pro gets nervous about drumming without a lot of rehearsal. Would love to see how you write cheat charts for sit in gigs. Thanks again. Excellent video.

  • @Six3rdy
    @Six3rdy 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Well I'll tell ya whut, I'll tell ya whut. I'm only a third of the way in, and I'm impressed. The pocket and timing was so clean you could eat off of it. And I'm digging the professionalism you're displaying. Heck, I'm over here reflecting on myself. 😂
    Primarily because I'm disciplined enough to hold the pocket, but I'll take my freedom to express where I can. Not saying that I'll put myself above the song, tho. I always gotta put the song first. It's just that I enjoy taking my expressive liberties in the space established within the song if I got it. (I.e., I'll preserve the patterns and energy of the song, but try to speak with my own voice.) And that may be something that I need to work on. The people I play with don't complain as long as I do my job and am open to constructive criticism, but I'll acknowledge I can grow in this area.
    Whereas for you, you _forego_ that freedom so you can push the song and the band to higher heights. Lol. I have to respect that. When you're summoned, you leave very little details unaccounted for, and that's remarkable. And the ones that slip through you recover from very well.
    Awesome work.
    Plus, gotta give kudos to the band. That reharmonization on Ain't No Sunshine was a sight to behold. That flat 2nd in the progression hit SO different. 😂😂😂😂😂

    Cool interesting vid. Great sound on the kit and loved the grooves. One thing though, and maybe because I'm a little older, I do like some sort of dress code on stage. The music and sets are obviously well put together and pro level and I think their dress style should match that level. Their style doesn't do this band justice. But very cool overall!

    • @malonedrum
      @malonedrum  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think in summer especially (in the elements), the style/dress code takes a slight back seat to being comfortable in the weather. Performing has a physical toll, so got to be able to be comfy for an extended period of time.

    Nice video. Thanks. Nice band. Nice drumming. Nice recording ...how is it done? Mixer recording? I like video's: how do you do it, behind the scenes, you approach, your preparation, your gigs, your bands, your rehearsals, your recordings, your planning, on the raod again, your gear and setups, transport and storage, etc. etc. There are enough channels with how to do a standard rock beat or how to do this amazing fast almost impossible rock beat using my breakdown and analysis, etc. Regarding the band. I see many musicians, singers and many great drummers. When there are so much great drummers it is difficult to get/keep a place/position on stage / in the band. On the other hand with so much musicians and singers you can build a network. Finding your niche is important but is the niche to small it is difficult to build a solid income or as an amateur to keep/ get a place/position. I recently had to invest in getting further in my niche (same groups in the niche) and expanding the niche (other genres).

    Generally the bass is all you can hear to get your cues as a drummer. Even with loud rock music all you can hear is the bass. Which makes me wonder how guns and roses and nirvana faired when their bass players were OD on heroin while playing.

    • @malonedrum
      @malonedrum  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I like your signature fill rule since I agree with it. Too bad drummers in other cover bands in my town have decided to ruin so many songs by playing fills that don’t exist in the song.

    • @malonedrum
      @malonedrum  2 หลายเดือนก่อน
