- Vectors EDU walks you through the field calibrations on your S-Series Total Stations.
Compensator Calibrations- Should be done first thing in the morning or when setting up on-site and then again in the afternoon after breaking down and setting back up after lunch.
HA/VA Collimation and Trunnion Axis Tilt- Should technically be performed every 18 deg temperature change, elevation change + or - 1,640 feet, or when high precision is desired.
Auto-Lock Calibrations- Should be performed once a month or before traverses. We also recommend this calibration be performed at a distance the same length or longer than your furthest shot of the day or on your job site.

Thorough and easily understood demonstration / presentation. Nicely done. Thank you.
Thanks Mike. We're going to try this out today here in Tulsa.
Thanks brother
Thank you for sharing, very helpfull.
Thank you!
When doing the Sighting and Trunion, should you only move off of the target horizontally for the Sighting and back on, and then move off the target only vertically and back on for the Trunnion? Thanks for the simple and great video!
Sorry for the delayed response @flyinlo1474
If trying to isolate potential errors individually it would be recommended to move off only horizontally for the horizontal axis and only move off vertically on the trunnion axis.
For the horizontal part. I can use my prism pole and it needs to be at least 700 feet away? And for the vertical part. I can use anything that’s vertically over 30 degrees ? So I need to be looking at a 60 degree vertical angle? Does distance matter?
