I’m curious why you didn’t go to a med school in Canada. Wouldn’t it have been cheaper?
Yes, it may have been cheaper, but medical school anywhere isn't cheap. It's really hard for students to get into medical school in Canada because there's a small amount of medical schools that take in only about 60 students or less. Also other provinces (not including Ontario), prioritize their residents that live in province when applying whereas Ontario (where I am from), don't do that so others applying from international locations can also take spots in Ontario Medical schools alongside Ontario residents.
Also it's very competitive with the number of students applying to med schools and the number of schools in the country. Some students get their masters, phD, and apply and don't even get in, and they end up doing something else or applying outside of the country. Besides the Caribbean, a lot of Canadians are either in Australia, UK or Ireland for medical school.
So there's basically Canadians all over for medical school because of some of these reasons, but it's not limited to them. There are numerous reasons for Canadian students applying outside of Canada.
