Thank you, Nik. Some people will enjoy this. (I used to do verbose, then got into grub and login themes, but now Pop!_OS reboots in about 4 or 5 seconds to the GDM and I'm only there long enough to type pw and hit rnter and I'm back to work.)
No problem! Yeah I hope that some at least learn about that there's themes in GRUB. Definitely nice when you have multiple operating systems. Haha all about the productivity I see :)
If you like to use the grub customizer do not update to Ubuntu 22.04 Jammy Jellyfish; they've removed it. It's gone. And word has it that the last available Ubuntu version (21.10) will not work on 22.04 . 😞
Aw man i just found that out too. I finally decided to upgrade too man that sux..but looks like Daniel Richter is still working on it, in the answers section on the launchpad page he says 22.04 should be working i think ill take a chance and try it out.
It's just another frontend web framework. Some people might dislike it because it can have quite a few layers of abstraction in order to actually work with the operating system (somewhat bloated). It's just a philosophy that people have. Good alternatives? I mean whatever your comfortable using to make frontends. Usually the trade off is going to be performance vs how quickly you can develop the frontend. Sometimes it's easier just to use a web framework to quickly setup a frontend and then write all the rest of the code in a more "performance" based language like C++/whatever.
(Assuming you have UEFI) Install rEFInd, shrink windows partition, make small (3gb?) FAT32 partition AT THE END, copy fedora ISO files to it, refind detects fedora GRUB, boot from it and now you can install fedora.
When I start grub customizer I can only see two entries: Windows and Bios setup, no linux entry at all. I have dual boot with Windows 11 and Fedora 36 installed on different drives. GRUB is supposed to be installed on the drive Fedora is installed. Themes dont apply at all either even following all steps. There is something I might have done wrong and I dont know what it is.
didnt work. followed all your instructions and ran the install script for a different theme i picked. manually updated grub file to the correct video mode and it's still text only.
Nice video; I'll use this to try out some nice themes to see if it's better looking. BTW: - "sudo" is pronounced "su-du" (since it's simply "su do (like the English verb)"), not "su-doe". - Gentoo is pronounced "jen-too". - #'s name is simply _hash_ or _pound;_ a "hashtag" is so named because it's a tag (like those used to create keywords), but it's created by prefixing the _hash_ symbol instead of the traditional way to do it on the web, which was to just write the name of the tag itself (e.g., if you look up tag clouds or the like).
It disables GRUB's framebuffer, making graphical menus impossible (on legacy boot). Not sure how it behaves on UEFI, since it has a native framebuffer.
Thanks once again for showing me stuff I need to know about linux. I wasn't happy with old menu. Now I can change it when I want!
Great to hear! Glad you found it helpful.

You are really underrated. Im subing!
Thanks!! That means a lot and I appreciate the sub.
finally during update grub config found the theme i wanted to use
Awesome to hear! Congrats.
this is pretty cool but I suggest grub customizer. With it you can edit all the things about the look of your grub menu.
Thanks for the suggestion.

It worked for me
I went with cyberpunk theme and it looks dope on my 8 year old PC🙂
Awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing.
Dude! It worked like a charm. Thanks..
Does applying a custom grub theme increase boot time?
Not that I’m aware of
@@SavvyNik cool
Great video!! Is it possible to increase the font size?
Thanks for showing this stuff
No problem 👍 glad you liked it!
Can you use these themes for grub2win?
Красавчик! Автор - ты супер!
Thanks 💖
You're welcome 😊
Ventoy has the same stuff
BTW, what's so special about Electron& why people dislike it& what are some good alternatives??

@@SavvyNik You deserve the respect
BTW, how about flutter??
Flutter is a similar deal just the google implementation xD
i installed it on Feren OS and it doesnt change the grub screen, the process loads the default boot screen 🤔
Can you make a video on how to dual boot windows and fedora (windows first) and without a usb thanks!
Without a USB? I'm not sure how you would boot into the install media then. There's really not a way without.
Use smartphone (rooted), and use driveDroid.
(Assuming you have UEFI) Install rEFInd, shrink windows partition, make small (3gb?) FAT32 partition AT THE END, copy fedora ISO files to it, refind detects fedora GRUB, boot from it and now you can install fedora.
What shortcuts your using for save and exit code in terminal. I am using Ubuntu 18.04

When i uncomment this it takes away the grub menu, why: # Uncomment to disable graphical terminal (grub-pc only)
#GRUB_TERMINAL=console

Gentoo is pronounced jentoo. It's a breed of penguin 🐧
