I advise you to watch the Original Series episode called “Space Seed” before watching the second movie, The Wrath of Khan. The movie is set fifteen years after the episode.
This movie was made for people who had seen the original TV show and already knew the characters and situations. So the fact that you were able to figure all the important stuff out in pretty short order and enjoy the movie is amazing! It's really a testament to how well-made this film is.
The reason they took a LONG time in the movie to show the Enterprise was to us Trekies SHE was as much a character as Kirk or Spock and it had been decades since we had last seen her on the ANYTHING but reruns on the small screen! As Kirk described the Enterprise in one of the shows, "She IS a beautiful lady and we LOVE her!"
The sheer amount of joy and wonder you express while watching this film warms my heart in the best way. You may be one of the first people I have seen who truly "get" this film, and I love it. "It's so Human" is the best description for it I've ever heard
In 1989, a new multi-plex cinema opened downtown and as a promotion they showed the first 4 Star Trek movies back-to-back-to-back-to-back. We watched all 4 in one day on the big screen in new theaters. It was as glorious as you can imagine.
I'm so happy you liked this movie. Many fans found it boring and slow, but I always liked this movie a lot! Can't wait for you to see the next movie, called WRATH OF KHAN! It's a much faster pace and more action than the 1st movie. If you want ( you don't have to ), try watching the TV series episode called ' Space Seed' because it will help you understand who KHAN is for the 2nd movie. Thanks again for the great reaction. Keep smiling!
The original Star Trek TV series, while a bit dated, stands up fairly well considering it is about 60 years old at this point. I would definitely recommend watching for its exploration of the human condition, not the special effects.
Wonderful! Thank you for trying out Star Trek. Here's some context about its universe. The original series aired 1966-69. The animated series aired for about two years in the early seventies. Both depicted the adventures of Kirk and his crew. The movie you're watching here was released in 1979. It takes place almost three years after Kirk's adventures. Then between 1982 and 1986, there were three more movies. Many people consider these a trilogy because each one continues from the previous. I consider it a trilogy. The next tv series, The Next Generation, is set a century after Kirk's adventures. It's a different crew. Both series are worthwhile. After a few seasons of The Next Generation, three other series premiered: Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise. This is in addition to loads of comic book series, toys, etc. It's a huge franchise.
A lot of people tend to miss an important point from this movie: That our emotions, which can interfere with our decision making and make us untrustworthy to our colleagues as well as ourselves, are also what V'ger lacks. While the television series usually showed Kirk's obsession with the Enterprise as a strength, here we see the darker side of that obsession. Our obsessions can either help us achieve our goals or interfere with them; or the goals of the common good -- but those are the risks we take when we allow ourselves to be the emotional creatures that we naturally are.
OK, here is Trek 101. Star Trek ran for 3 seasons starting in 1966. It was the story of the U.S.S. Enterprise and crew as they did a "5-year mission to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go...where no man has gone before". Captain James T. Kirk, First officer and Science Officer Spock, and Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy were the 3 main characters, with Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott, Helmsman Hikaru Sulu, Russian Navigator Pavel Chekov, Communications Officer Uhura, and Nurse Christine Chapel rounded the cast. Spock and McCoy were Kirk's best friends. Spock represented the Logical approach, while McCoy the passionate and human approach, and the two would always argue. In the series, after the cancelation after season 3, it is said that Kirk was the only captain to ever bring his ship back to earth after the 5-year mission. The crew received promotions, with Kirk becoming an admiral. Spock resigned from Starfleet and returned to his home planet Vulcan to try to rid himself of emotions. That was the opening scene for him, his graduation ceremony, but he failed. McCoy resigned as well to go off-world and do medical research. The Enterprise was to undergo a complete 100% refit, in honor of being the first ship to complete the 5 year mission. IN this movie, about 2.5 years after they completed the 5 years, Kirk forces his superior's hand to get the Enterprise back for this vital mission and orders his original crew back to stop V'ger, hence McCoy's comments "I was drafted!!!". The long beauty shots of the Enterprise were parts of my favorite scenes. If you look closely, there is an iridescent paint scheme on the hull where as the light moves, the panels shimmer in different colors. Absolutely gorgeous, gold, green, red, and blue paints shimmering on the white basecoat. In all of sci-fi, the Enterprise Refit is my #1 favorite ship ever. Lastly, the "portal" where the 2 people died, is the famous Transporter, tied in with the line (that was never actually said in the series) "Beam me up, Scotty". As mentioned by Scotty when Kirk beamed up to the station before the ride over to the Enterprise, the ship's transporters were down. Starfleet later tried to beam the 2 up before it was completely fixed and tested, and the deadly result was the 2 returned to Earth merged together, and turned inside out. " What we got back didn't live long.... fortunately". The two dead officers were the Vulcan science office Commander Sonak whom Kirk met in San Francisco, and according to the novels, the female officer was Vice Admiral Lori Ciana, Kirk's ex-wife. Dr. McCoy in the series was scared to death and hated being transported, that is why when he was beamed up, he was checking himself over. As others have said, if you plan to watch Star Trek 2 The Wrath of Khan, you MUST MUST MUST watch the season 1 episode "Space Seed" as the movie is the direct sequel to that episode. Enjoy and "Live Long and Prosper"
11:00 "He's not pleased to see _you,_ apparently." He's half Vulcan and he has embraced the Vulcan way of life. That means no displays of emotion. It's not that McCoy's presence bothers him. It's that _whatever_ his feelings, he doesn't _show_ them. One of the curious ironies about Spock.
You are now officially a Trekkie! It was great fun seeing you experience Star Trek for the first time. I think you should start with the original series, you'll love it.
Was amazingly fun seeing you react without any real knowledge of the series. When this came out the original show had been gone, save for reruns, for a decade. The model for the ship was such a big upgrade from the TV version that they really took their time showcasing it when revealed. Keep on watching, if possible watch the original show before continuing to the next movie.
The reason for the long trip around the Enterprise was to show the fans the ship. See, the original series ran from 1966 to 1969. For years after that, a new TV series was proposed, then a movie. It went on like that for ten years. So the fans had to wait for a decade to see this movie. Honestly, in this movie, you can't really get a feel for why the series was revered. In the TV show, the stories dealt with characters and situations, not just "outer space" stuff. It pitted the emotional country doctor, McCoy, against the logical Vulcan, Spock; with Captain James Kirk taking input from both to help with his decisions. It was a treat to finally have someone else do Star Trek. Please continue on. Starting with the next movie, you'll get more of a feel of the characters ... they'll feel less stiff than in this movie. I highly recommend watching at least some episodes of the show to understand everything I just said about the character interaction. If you watch just one episode before the next movie, please watch "Space Seed," which set up the movie, "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan." Enjoyed the reaction.
Another Fun Fact the record on the side was designed by Carl Sagan. Also the Tech Consultant had doctorates in Chemistry and Physics plus is known as the Grand Master of Science Fiction. I. Asimov the writer is mentioned throughout many scifi shows including Trek, Buck Rodgers, Babylon 5, and many others.
Don't be watching the next film without first watching some of the original TV series or you will not understand the importance of the story. You are missing the chemistry between the main characters . And the Enterprise herself is also a main character in her own rights, hence the long scenes in space dock. It had been many years since we last saw the old girl and cast .
You're awesome! Welcome to the crew! Also glad you're giving Star Trek a shot. No spoilers of any kind....But all I can say is that Star Trek II is a rollercoaster ride, and you will really enjoy it. But great reaction! Can't wait to take the whole journey with you! I'm ready for the next one. Don't make us wait!!!
The people telling you you should watch the episode "Space Seed" from the original series before watching the next movie, "The Wrath of Khan" - they are 100% correct. And at least a selection of original series episodes would also give you a greater appreciation of the characters and the history of the Enterprise. Enjoy!
Okay, Carol, my recommendation is to watch the entire original series (abbreviated TOS) from 1966-69. All the main characters except for Decker and Iliya were in that. There you will learn about the Vulcans, their relationship to the humans, the friendship between the Captain, Doctor, and Spock, and many points of view on humanity and the deep topics of our existence. Do this before the second movie, since it is a follow-up to one of the TOS episodes. Glad you liked this so much. When the movie came out, there had been nearly 15 years of Star Trek between the original run and syndication, so everyone knew all the characters very well, whereas you came in here cold. You did a good job of figuring things out - even appreciating the shots of the Enterprise. The ship itself was a core character, if you will, since it was the site of many stories and took the crew to the various planets, and was an obsession of Kirk's in a way. Keep with the franchise and you will understand. That is why we got such a fan service of seeing the ship in all its glory. Welcome!
Fun Fact Star Trek was so big with fans the first NASA space shuttle was named Enterprise. It didn't go to space but was the testbed. Also Gene Roddenberry was a Navy man and one of the first six frigates in the Navy was the Enterprise under Captain Decatur and fought the Barbary wars. Her sistership is still active in Boston Harbor the Constitution. Since there has been several Enterprizes the first Nuclear Carrier is being broken up now and the new Ford class Enterprize is being built. The carriers are nicknamed the Big E. Except for the newest Top Gun Paramont tended to use the Big E for any movie with an Carrier in it, including one Star Trek film. They missed a crossover chance there not bringing back a topgun or Red October actor or two.
Here's a list of Star Trek episodes that are directly referenced in the Star Trek movies. It should give you a foundations on the characters, equipment, aliens, and politics of the universe: Space Seed Tomorrow Is Yesterday Errand of Mercy Amok Time Journey To Babel The DoomsDay Machine Is There In Truth No Beauty?
If you want episodes were you get to know the characters but are not referenced in the movies, I recomend these: Balance of Terror Mirror Mirror The Immunity Syndrome The Trouble with Tribbles The Devil In the Dark The City on the Edge of Forever
Space Seed 10/10 Tomorrow Is Yesterday 9/10 Errand of Mercy 8/10 Amok Time 10/10 Journey To Babel 8/10 The DoomsDay Machine 10/10 Is There In Truth No Beauty? 8/10
@@actioncom2748 Balance of Terror 10/10 Mirror Mirror 10/10 The Immunity Syndrome 8/10 The Trouble with Tribbles 10/10 The Devil In the Dark 10/10 The City on the Edge of Forever 10/10 and my pick as the best Star Trek episode ever. All Star Trek.
Watching the original series would give you a better context of the characters and their friendships with one another. This film came out 10 years after the show, so it was a reunion movie of sorts. There are nearly 80 episodes of the show, if you don't have time to watch them all there are 10 or so that would be very beneficial for you. These would be: Balance of Terror Arena Space Seed Errand of Mercy The Devil in the Dark The City on the Edge of Forever Amok Time Mirror, Mirror Journey to Babel Trouble with Tribbles There are many other great episodes, but these stand out as being the most important ones. You most definitely want to watch the episode Space Seed before the second film.
I'm glad you liked this one! A lot of people think it's too slow, but I love its atmosphere and themes. It definitely captures some of what makes Star Trek Star Trek, at least in my opinion. I think you nailed it when you said it was about humanity and how we feel--that's the core of Star Trek in a nutshell.
Space Seed is a must for movie 2 but from the series another all time favorites are Trouble with Tribbles, Balance of Terror, Amok Time. There are a couple more in my head that I can't name. One that Kirk meets Carol Marcus, and one that the crew goes crazy and learns how to time travel (that is used later)
Part of the reason for the extended exterior shots of the Enterprise throughout the movie is that the script was originally meant to be the one-hour pilot for Star Trek Phase Two (a never-produced second TV series) so it needed some padding the stretch it to feature length. Fun Fact: Two more Phase Two scripts ended up being made into Next Generation episodes.
You may want to see a few of the episodes from the original series for some more context to the general star trek universe of this era... The episode "space seed" has a few uncomfortably outdated elements to it (product of its time after all), but it does set up the second movie nicely enough
For someone who hasn't seen anything about Star Trek, I'm happy to see you enjoy the movie. Star Trek is a show that explored space with humanity who has evolved to a more utopian state and encounters events and civilaations that stand in for the current time. It's a series of morality plays and action and adventure as well. The Original Series had more of a mix while The Next Generation pushed the concept even further. Star Trek TMP was released 10 years after the original show ended so seeing all the crew together again was great and the fly over really made the Enterprise feel like another character because she was the one we were on, voyaging through the galaxy.
Hi Carol! I encourage you to watch The Original Star Trek and can put together an abridged list comprising half the episodes I consider most essential for a beginner who might have time considerations. Or you can do a poll. Just let me know if you need my help.
Hey, Carol! See the Original Series episode "Space Seed" before watching "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan"! Terrific reaction for someone coming in cold!
Bravo Carol! Welcome to Star Trek from lifelong fan. Please watch The Original Series, but be careful *not* to watchThe Cage as it was the rejected pilot and as such, not part of the canon series.
Excuse me, although The Cage was never shown as the pilot back then, its story was incorporated in later episodes and it is currently presented along with the other 79 episodes as the original series. Anybody who watches it should just see it before anything else and understand its place in history.
@@mikejankowski6321 I've been watching Star Trek since 1970/71 and am perfectly aware of its place in the franchise. To avoid confusion, disappointment as other TH-camrs have had and endless pointless discussions with guys like you, Carol should avoid The Cage but can safely watch it *after* watching the whole series if she wants to.
@@fredklein3829 I am disinclined toward endless pointless discussions, I was merely pointing out that it *is* in line with canon and available. One can watch TOS without it and not suffer, or watch it at the end as you suggest. It is not essential. P.S, got you by 4 years. Born under Sputnik, there for the original airings.
@@mikejankowski6321 Only seasoned fans know that. For new Trek viewers, it can be confusing, even frustrating. Go look up "Sci-Fi Dog Lady" sometime and watch the first few minutes of her reaction to Menagerie Part I.
Always more Star Trek! The world needs more people watching Star Trek! TOS, TAS, Continues, the next 5 TOS movies, TNG, DS9, Voyager, the TNG movies, Enterprise, the Kelvin movies, Discovery, After Trek, Short Treks, Picard, Ready Room, Lower Decks, Prodigy, Strange New Worlds, The Orville, Captain Starr, Galaxy Quest, Trekkies 1 & 2, Free Enterprise, more fan made stuff, more ancillary stuff, audio adventures, video game walkthroughs, a book club for the novels and comics...
I’m so glad you enjoyed this movie. I went to the theater to see it in 1979, I was 8 years old then. And yes, before you watch “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” be sure to watch the episode “Space Seed” from the original series. That episode sets-up the storyline for The Wrath of Khan.
Great reaction, thanks, now onto Star Trek 2 the Wrath of Khan, you might want to watch the original episode Space Seed to understand the second film better :)
You REALLY should have watched the Original Series before watching this, but not TOTALLY necessary. The first season IS necessary if you want to watch the next one.
Humanity and the human experience is the very core of Star Trek, and I always love seeing people discover it for the first time. To quote a different franchise, you've just taken your first step into a larger world.
@@carolreacts Glad to hear, if you watch Star Trek 2 I would suggest you watch the directors cut, it's the more complete version of the movie than the theatrical release.
I'm really glad you enjoyed this. This movie gets a lot of criticism that I don't think is deserved. Of all the Star Trek movies, this one feels the most like the original concept of the show to me. My favorite of all the films.
It's so great to see that you enjoyed this movie! I am a huge Star Trek fan and I definitely agree with all of the recommendations of everyone else, there are some episodes of the original Trek TV show that are must-watch requirements. It's so cool to see that you immediately caught on to the basic ideas that define Star Trek. Before seeing Star Trek 2: The Wrath Of Khan, you gotta see the episode "Space Seed"!
Great reaction Carol. I recommend watching/Reacting to all 3 seasons of Classic Trek first before moving on to the next movie in order to familiarize yourself with the characters. In order to show you how much of a bond of friendship and teamwork/devotion they have for one another. Or at the very least to watch the Classic Trek episode, "Space Seed" first before continuing to the next movie "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" to get context and understanding why Khan has a Wrath. 🙂🖖
As others have said you need to watch the original TV series episode Space Seed before watching the 2nd movie The Wrath of Khan or you won't really understand it all
So glad you loved this move. Considered by a lot of fans to be The Motionless Picture, to me it was the most Epic. Great model work, sets with scale and scope that make you feel the ship was really as large as it is meant to be. In the later movies, they are on smaller budgets and while great, feel more like TV movies vs theatre scale movies (at least to me). Watch the original series to get familiar with the crew, then jump back into the movies. Enjoy
I'm glad you enjoyed the movie, and I'm glad to hear that you have watched more of the Original Series since this video. Looking forward to seeing more Star Trek content from you. Subscribed.
The Enterprise is home for our characters, she's a breath of fresh air in the vacuum of space, a pearl among jewels and all the characters are in love with her. :D
Well, first, Carol, welcome to the franchise. There's the fifth movie, but otherwise, I don't think you'll be disappointed by a _single_ thing you see, here. But, second, I would have to say that the _main_ source of _Star Trek's_ enduring popularity comes from the fact that it takes pride in delivering adventures that you just don't _get_ in other series. All too consistently, in other series, the conflict is clear-cut. One side is clearly right. The other side is clearly wrong. Resolving the conflict means making sure that the one side wins and that's that. Not so, with _Star Trek._ All too often, in _Star Trek,_ resolving the conflict means something more nuanced than that. Sometimes, we have to solve a problem for an important diplomat so they can go resolve a conflict between two _other_ parties. The _Star Trek_ universe is a universe replete with space-faring civilizations that, by and large, are good groups of people, but each is _just_ different enough for conflicts to emerge and I would dare to say this makes the _Star Trek_ universe more realistic.
22:20 "Oh, wow. That's deep. _That's deep,_ man." Now you get it. _Star Trek_ starts _out_ with a story that's just kind of _mysterious._ But as our heroes investigate and investigate and investigate, the answers have a way of just getting more and more _profound._
You're coming in at a small disadvantage here, because this movie presumes you've seen the series, and are thus familiar with the characters, know who the Klingons are and what the Federation is, etc. If you'd like a crash course in the Star Trek universe before you continue, here are the episodes which relate to anything that happens in the movies: -Space Seed (very important that you see this one) -Amok Time -Tomorrow Is Yesterday -Journey to Babel -Errand of Mercy, Day of the Dove (Klingons- just for context) I've left off a few of the best episodes, these are just the ones that you need to see to understand things they don't explain in the movies. You don't really need to see Metamorphosis to understand First Contact, but it makes it a little more interesting if you have.
Curious: why in the world does she need to watch Tomorrow is Yesterday? I mean, I'd encourage her to watch all of Star Trek, but why Tomorrow is Yesterday specifically? I'm thinking...slingshot?
@@dupersuper1938 Yes, slingshot. Tomorrow Is Yesterday is only on the list because it establishes a major plot device for one of the movies. I do agree with you, that to experience the movies the way the theatrical audiences experienced them, she should watch the whole series first, or failing that, as many episodes as possible, since the movies presume you're familiar with the Star Trek universe.
Never imagined anyone with no familiarity with Star Trek would watch this movie. There is years of backstory with these characters...to go in totally blank to all of it...very different take as a result.
I hope you become a fan of Star Trek and looking to watching at least some of the original series episodes. As I'm sure hundreds of other people have said at least watch the episode space seed (season 1 episode 22) before watching the next movie. It a follow up of that episode. If you only want to watch one episode of the original series to get an idea of what this is about watch City on the edge of forever (S1 E28) this is considered one of the best episodes of Star Trek and possibly of television series in general. I'm sure many other fans will suggest many other episodes I hope you find the time to watch at least some of them. Here is some background information on Star Trek. The Enterprise was the flagship of the United Federation of Planets (kind of like the UN but actually in charge) space exploration, diplomatic, peacekeeping, and defense division called Starfleet. Spock is a half alien half human. His alien side is Vulcan And they suppress their emotions and don't show them. They replace their emotions with logical thought. They consider it the highest form of thought and a highest compliment you can give a Vulcan is that is very logical. Spock served as the first officer (next down in rank from Captain) and science officer. This is highly unusual and would be too much work for almost anyone but Spock does both easily. When the show premiered in 1966 it had a somewhat racially diverse cast, (most of the cast was actually white American males but but played people from different countries) and even different species working peacefully together. "Yea, so what we see that all the time." Not back then, it was a radical idea and even had women in position of power. The show nearly got canceled for that. "It was too radical an idea for the American public to accept," said the network.😅😅 3:35 "Show me again..." Ok here's 5 minutes more 😂 7:21 that's the ship's doctor Leonard 'Bones' McCoy he hates transporters And it had just malfunctioned killing two people. 😮 30:35 the original TV show had a tiny budget and mostly bad special effects. You never really saw the Enterprise in detail. So at the start of the first movie they decided to give the fans a good look at the ship for the first time.
My friend, if you actually liked this, you might enjoy one of the many STAR TREK shows. They all deal in different ways with humanity and our place in the universe.
You see the Enterprise looking its best. Sleek and sexy, that refit of the original is magnificent. Kirk, after a brilliant 5 year mission or two was promoted to admiral to direct space operations at Starfleet. But he's really bored there. His real happiness is commanding a Starship especially the Enterprise.
Probably not the best idea to watch a movie based on 60-odd episodes of a television show. But hey, what do I know? After all, that’s how I did it and that was before the internet. Or at least the internet as it appears now.
A lot of people thought Star Trek TMP was boring, because they like action and laser battles and explosions and other childish nonsense, but I think it's the best movie in the series, the most "Star Trek" movie. It basically removes all of the things that they can fight with. They can't fight it, they can't blow it up, they have to Understand it, and THINK their way out. It's Kirk at his best. People think of him superficially as a womaniser and brawler, but Kirk is the most intelligent ST Captain. He "doesn't believe in the no-win scenario", he's always thinking of a way to resolve the problem using his wits, his cunning, and his friends to outwit the enemy. This is what Star Trek is about, not battles and explosions.
This was a n excellent reaction, Please do watch the original series of Star Trek! If you don't feel like committing to the whole series ask your patrons to give you a list of the best 10 episodes from each season. If you do I think you would end up wanting to watch the rest of them anyway.
That's a lot to ask. I watched the entire TOS three years ago. Two years ago I watched all of Enterprise. Last year I watched all of TNG. I am hoping to watch DS9 this year. And then Voyager.
Oi, Carol. "Commander" é o nome de um posto (a rank), não do cargo de comandante da espaçonave, que no caso de espaçonaves da categoria da Enterprise é normalmente exercido por um oficial com o posto de "Captain". Sucesso!
By the way, Kirk is not usually this mean in the rest of the series/movies, it's just that he's been forced into a position where he feels trapped (for several years) and he sees this mission as a way out of that trap.
Can you please react to the Saban’s Power Rangers 2017 Movie!!! It is a sadly underrated. You may look at the name and think it is childish and cheesy. But it is hilarious and shows the growth of friendship and trustworthy.❤
I advise you to watch the Original Series episode called “Space Seed” before watching the second movie, The Wrath of Khan. The movie is set fifteen years after the episode.
I also, personally, reccommend that you watch the Director's Cut of Star Trek II, rather than the original theatrical release.
1000% and before even thinking of the JJ's need to see The orginal movies, and a few TNG too with Spock and his Dad

Such great points.

“That *was* a long story but quite well told” 🖖🏼
This is the best comment that has been posted. Good job.
yay! Star Trek is my fave space series :) thanks for watching :)
I just became a Star Trek fan in June 2024!!! 🖖🏻😊
11:00 "He's not pleased to see _you,_ apparently."
He's half Vulcan and he has embraced the Vulcan way of life. That means no displays of emotion. It's not that McCoy's presence bothers him. It's that _whatever_ his feelings, he doesn't _show_ them.
One of the curious ironies about Spock.
Initially, he barely speaks to anyone other than Kirk, as he had committed to a break with humans to mater the Kolinahr discipline.
The novel of this movie has Spock struggling not to feel anything to being back on the ship or seeing the people he cared about.
It's funny her not understanding that he's the Captain, he's not being rude or mean, he's the boss of the ship.
Im convinced it was on Cybertron that V’ger crashed, was repaired and sent back to Earth 😂
Do you mean Cybertron? And no ….. it was the Borg that helped V’ger along 🤖
@@bobbyclarkston8836 nah man, you forgot the borg don’t help, they just assimilate.
The Borg are Cyborgs. Not pure machine.
Don't be watching the next film without first watching some of the original TV series or you will not understand the importance of the story. You are missing the chemistry between the main characters . And the Enterprise herself is also a main character in her own rights, hence the long scenes in space dock. It had been many years since we last saw the old girl and cast .
I loved your reactions Carol😂
You're awesome! Welcome to the crew! Also glad you're giving Star Trek a shot. No spoilers of any kind....But all I can say is that Star Trek II is a rollercoaster ride, and you will really enjoy it. But great reaction! Can't wait to take the whole journey with you! I'm ready for the next one. Don't make us wait!!!
Before you watch The wrath of Kahn you need to watch the original series episode "Space Seed"
Not necessarily. I recall Joe Biden watched Wrath of Khan and never even watched Space Seed. He understood it perfectly.
The people telling you you should watch the episode "Space Seed" from the original series before watching the next movie, "The Wrath of Khan" - they are 100% correct. And at least a selection of original series episodes would also give you a greater appreciation of the characters and the history of the Enterprise. Enjoy!
The Enterprise its its own character, glad you like it, and its crew. THE HUMAN ADVENTURE IS JUST BEGINNING.
Sci-Fi in the 1970s was very philosophical. I miss that.
Welcome!
But don't watch Discovery, Picard or Strange New Worlds. The other series are worth watching.
@@trhansen3244 lmao always that one hater...
@@trhansen3244 Technically, she shouldn't watch Picard anyway until watching TNG and the TNG movies...
@@ChrissonatorOFL I just wanna help save her time and money and nightmares.
@@trhansen3244Picard S3 and Discovery S5 (so far) are good.
Don't get the hate for Strange New Worlds, though.
What really enhanced this movie was the ROOM-SHAKING Jerry Goldsmith music. It was such a wild, insane music score, I've never heard anything like it.
It should give you a foundations on the characters, equipment, aliens, and politics of the universe:
Space Seed
Tomorrow Is Yesterday
Errand of Mercy
Amok Time
Journey To Babel
The DoomsDay Machine
Is There In Truth No Beauty?
If you want episodes were you get to know the characters but are not referenced in the movies, I recomend these:
Balance of Terror
Mirror Mirror
The Immunity Syndrome
The Trouble with Tribbles
The Devil In the Dark
The City on the Edge of Forever
Space Seed 10/10
Tomorrow Is Yesterday 9/10
Errand of Mercy 8/10

Mirror Mirror 10/10
The Immunity Syndrome 8/10
The Trouble with Tribbles 10/10
The Devil In the Dark 10/10
The City on the Edge of Forever 10/10 and my pick as the best Star Trek episode ever. All Star Trek.
Yes, Trek is the original DEEP Sci-Fi ;)
Kirk THINKING his way out, classic.
If you're up for Star Trek TOS and Star Trek TNG, you'll have no shortage of content and I'm here for all of it 😁
Watching the original series would give you a better context of the characters and their friendships with one another.
This film came out 10 years after the show, so it was a reunion movie of sorts.
There are nearly 80 episodes of the show, if you don't have time to watch them all there are 10 or so that would be very beneficial for you. These would be:
Balance of Terror
Arena
Space Seed
Errand of Mercy
The Devil in the Dark
The City on the Edge of
Forever
Amok Time
Mirror, Mirror
Journey to Babel
Trouble with Tribbles
There are many other great episodes, but these stand out as being the most important ones.
It's so good!
Very nice, strapping yourself in! You're now a member of the crew
You know it!
Nice reaction. I love this film
What a great reaction! I loved it! 🖖🏻
Carol, you are so nerdy! Fantastic reaction, I loved it!!!! :D
Thank you!! 😁
Omg absolutely yes to more star trek. 💯 %❤
Yes, I would like for you to watch all if you could, but perhaps the most popular Star Trek episodes.
That's right, TOS is fabulous but leave The Cage for last. After that, The Animated Series is cool and not very long to watch.
Live long and prosper, Carol!

Thank you for your insightful review! Your reactions were quite moving, and I really enjoyed watching this video!
Thank you so much!
I'm really glad you enjoyed this. This movie gets a lot of criticism that I don't think is deserved. Of all the Star Trek movies, this one feels the most like the original concept of the show to me. My favorite of all the films.
I really enjoyed this one!! I Can’t wait to watch the next one ☺️
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great reaction!!!
We just see the beginning of a new Fan? Surely. 🙂
Really glad you liked it, This is my fev Star Trek film.
Enjoy
Carole: "Show me again!" Me: "Don't worry; you'll get another 15 minutes of this!" lol! (And for the record, I LOVE this movie.)
Star Trek can be a pretty deep pool to jump into. But I always appreciate a new fan!
Welcome to the wonderful world of Star Trek - you are gonna love it 🖖
Well, first, Carol, welcome to the franchise.
_That's deep,_ man."
Now you get it.
If you'd like a crash course in the Star Trek universe before you continue, here are the episodes which relate to anything that happens in the movies:
-Space Seed (very important that you see this one)
-Amok Time
-Tomorrow Is Yesterday
-Journey to Babel
-Errand of Mercy, Day of the Dove (Klingons- just for context)
I've left off a few of the best episodes, these are just the ones that you need to see to understand things they don't explain in the movies.
This movie has the most exciting warp effect ever.
That was a great reaction. Thank you
This reaction is amazing! 💙😍🛸
This one's my favorite Star trek movie of all
Never imagined anyone with no familiarity with Star Trek would watch this movie. There is years of backstory with these characters...to go in totally blank to all of it...very different take as a result.

I'd love to see you react to Star Trek the original series!
"It was too radical an idea for the American public to accept," said the network.😅😅
3:35 "Show me again..."
Ok here's 5 minutes more 😂
7:21 that's the ship's doctor Leonard 'Bones' McCoy he hates transporters And it had just malfunctioned killing two people. 😮
30:35 the original TV show had a tiny budget and mostly bad special effects. You never really saw the Enterprise in detail. So at the start of the first movie they decided to give the fans a good look at the ship for the first time.
My friend, if you actually liked this, you might enjoy one of the many STAR TREK shows. They all deal in different ways with humanity and our place in the universe.

Very cool to see a new person reacting to Star Trek! Keep going on a Star Trek journey! I love to see it!
I think we witnessed the birth of a Trekkie reacting on TH-cam.
Yeeess
The Motion Picture was essentially a movie version of The Changeling episode.
It's great to see this through the eyes of a non-fan. I'm glad you liked it!
I love this reaction.
I have a word docx with the entire timeline from before Enterprise to Discovery along with references to series's, movies, books and games
Who knew (I did) it wasn't only Jack O'Neill who went through the orifice?
