Like the comment ive pinned under this video, there are two kind of ending, one where shu nian is dead is bad ending, and where he survives but with scar on his face and crippled legs. That one is happy ending because they ended up together, and more continuation is actually in the novel where he later went through the operation to remove scar on his face and went through rehab to be able to walk normally though i cant remember if he managed to get his crippled legs fixed.

Xie Yan and Shu Nian love story is filled with so much ups and down and it’s sad actually the way Xie Yan treated Shu Nian even after he left him he still felt this longing feeling for him. I doubt I’ll be able to rewatch this show even with the happy ending I’m already so heartbroken from these two.

You are right not to watch Grey Rainbow. I was so happy with the progress in the drama and I didn't even know it had a sad ending. It caught me so off guard. It was really a masterpiece of a story but it made me cry like a baby. I was in disbelief because until that point every thing was going well and in last 5 min they decided to end it like that. I thought every thai bl had a happy ending. Now I double check and triple check if the series is going to make me cry or make me happy.

I watch this kdrama and I cryed so much seeing how much our baby had to go through trying not to show his tellings feeling pain wanting to run away almost got raped ..... And trying to not get faced bye the pain but it's really hard to bottle up all those feeling and getting treated like a toy and not even a person more like a object then you say you sorry but you keep doing it.

He was way too possessive and honestly it was such a toxic relationship for Shu Nian and his happy ending should’ve been him getting a different boyfriend and an actual happy ending rather than what happened. I HATE when a main dies but in this I prefer it cause they made it seem like Shu Nian couldn’t live a happy life with out him and I whole heartedly disagree. I want a third ending.

Xie Yan and Shu Nian love story is filled with so much ups and down and it’s sad actually the way Xie Yan treated Shu Nian even after he left him he still felt this longing feeling for him. I doubt I’ll be able to rewatch this show even with the happy ending I’m already so heartbroken from these two.

I remember when I first saw this drama. The cinematography is amazing and the plot is heart breaking. The toxicity definitely adds another layer to how psychologically damaged the characters are.

I think it’s interesting the way the movie is set up to have different endings to appeal to I guess different people. I definitely need to get around to sitting down and watching this all the way through. I’ve made attempts before I’m the past but keep dragging my feet. this was the show that help me decide that I will actively avoid sad endings. I had watched it when it came out (with subs) and I CRIEEEEDDDDD my eyes out to the sad ending. I felt my world fall apart, there was NO justice for xiao nian. I then found the happy ending. But it was too late, My mind was already made and I was set for life. I now WILL NOT watch sad endings. Reasons why I still haven't watched grey rainbow and red ballon. Even though I KNOW they are master pieces I REFUSE to have my heart broken

You are right not to watch Grey Rainbow. I was so happy with the progress in the drama and I didn't even know it had a sad ending. It caught me so off guard. It was really a masterpiece of a story but it made me cry like a baby. I was in disbelief because until that point every thing was going well and in last 5 min they decided to end it like that. I thought every thai bl had a happy ending. Now I double check and triple check if the series is going to make me cry or make me happy.
