It’s pretty chill working an office job, but the video is accurate haha. The worst part is getting extremely tired at the end of the day when you did almost nothing, and not the good kind of “well that was tough but the job is done “ tiredness you get doing something physical.
I've worked in a large office for the past 10 years. It's ok to sometimes hang out with your colleagues, but you should never consider them your actual friends. The moment you get promoted you become "the enemy" and anyone below you in the hierarchy will not wan't to see you outside work anymore, even if you are a good supervisor/manager whatever. Just be polite and friendly, do your job and then go home. To be honest it's completely fine to be that guy that barely speaks with anyone and always has headphones on. No one really cares.
The more talking to others at work the more risk of someone to target you. Under the radar is the best. Too many vindictive and spiteful people out there.
This isn’t always the case. When my friend got promoted I actually asked to transfer to his team as I knew my life would be easier. We stayed friends outside of work. In the companies I’ve worked for, it was better to be sociable and well liked. Those who blended into the background were the first to be let go during layoffs.
@@reanukeeves2k77 Are you sure your friend was happy that you requested to be transferred to his team? Being sociable and extroverted is always a plus in this world if you want to network, but it's not that those minding their own business are doing something wrong to get laid off. You simply had the opportunity to pick your manager and you get special treatment and favoritism because of it, why would you say life is easier otherwise? I mean, good for you, but that's not how it should be. The wheel spins, and if you find yourself to be the "disliked one" in your next job just because of a bad first impression you will see how unfair it can get. You get punished for everything while some people get away with murder. I do have favourites in my team, but I never show it and base my decisions on performance and work behaviour only.
@@YouAreNotThatGuy4844 Well it didn’t affect our friendship. So I don’t think becoming management automatically means everyone will hate you. I didn’t hate him, which is the point I was making. I also don’t necessarily think it’s right that people who keep their heads down and work hard get passed over. But that’s how it works at most companies, those who are popular and stand out get rewarded - even if they’re not the top performers.
Yea, office jobs are not inherently bad. Most of the folks who complain about it are people who have issues with socializing or people with very low patience. I agree, working an office job is boring but so what? Entertain yourself. Put on a podcast. Put on an audio book. Put music in one headphone while you work. Folks whine about office politics. Man do you know how easy it is to stay out of it? Do you know how easy it is for introverts (like me) to stay out of gossip and drama? If you see a pack of yacking hens in the hallways, it’s super easy to walk past them and keep it moving. You’re in the middle of a convo and someone starts talking trash about another colleague, then just “aight man, tell me about it later. I gotta get back to my desk” Oh and god forbid you have genuinely nice coworkers. These dudes will shriek and act like being friendly is overbearing and a crime against their freedom.

Most of your coworkers aren't your friends -Your managers are def not your friends ( you can be friendly tho/DO NOT overshare) -Never be the first one to talk smack or criticize. -Always have your monitors (at least one) where people cant see them at a glans -Get a Bluetooth wireless keyboard and mouse that you can use with your computer and phone -Set phone on stand to the side and have privacy screen, you can use it and always look busy. you can also use your own personal browser so they cant track your searches. -If you take phone calls and have a headset you can connect your headset to stream media. -Always use company time for bathroom breaks - Find the minimum threshold for work and do about 20% more to stay out of the radar. - save money and move up or find a better job. Good luck!
Oh god. I was feeling a bit depressed about working from home and you just reminded me of the hell the public bathrooms were when we worked in the office circa 2019. It absolutely blew my mind that other adults would leave the bathrooms like that. Thank you for reminding me how good I have it now lol.
One thing I noticed is that no one, absolutely no one likes or feels valued in their work. I went to college to be a philosophy professor and the teachers said they weren't valued. I decided to quit and started a nursing college. Today I am a nurse and nurses say they are not valued. Police officers say they are not valued. Doctors say they are not valued. Sellers say they are not valued. Absolutely all professions have this bitterness.
Been there. I had a suit-and-tie job after college. Hated it. Fast forward to now. I've been working mostly outdoors in Public Works for many years now. Best job ever.. for me anyway. I'm doing this until retirement.

If you want live happy you have to stick on a few things 1 Do the job / make a business you like: If you don't, then there will be no escape to get another one. Trust me 2 Invest : Investing should be the 1st thing that comes after paying your taxes (or not lol). You can invest in crypto and forex (short term) or you can get passive income with stocks and ETF's (long term). 3 If you buy stuff buy one that you use, not one that you need : With this I mean buy a shirt but don't buy it cus some piece of shit influencer has it. Thats the point of the sponsorship. 4 Enjoy life : Understand that you are lucky to be alive. Be active, go to vacation or gym. Do something that keeps you active while also making you smile. Don't forget to also take time with your family. 5 Get a soulmate : Don't listen to gooffy ass alpha male memes. Sure don't meatride a women but try to find the one. After you do there is nothing more important then her. If she is really the one she will act the same to you. 6 AND THE MOST IMPORTANT IGNORE THE PEOPLE WHO HATE YOU : The only reason people will hate on you is because they are dragging you down to there low lvl. "We will walk non-stop towards our goal we want on the path we opened!" Mustafa Kemal Ataturk
one of the biggest humiliations is when your raise is 50 cents more an hour. these managers are always kissing the bosses rear ends at our expense. I never could believe there's not more violence in the workplace. people just put up with it.
I work in an office doing purchasing and I asked my boss for a raise this past week and he just looked at me like I was an idiot and ungrateful. I previously was looking around and other companies are offering way more money than I’m making.
The last part about stop investing in any form of relationship with the guy leaving is unfortunately accurate with my last job where right after being fired I got absolutely ghosted big everyone in the office I thought I was in good terms with , absurd
Having worked various office positions, this is so spot on, especially the chat by the coffee machine. However the IT guy getting fired like that at the end only thing never witnessed.
Working in an office setting can be one of the worse experiences one can go through. Many people who work in offices are some of the most miserable people around but most don't leave for various reasons. Either the pay is good so they'll tolerate all the bs or they're stuck in their comfort zone. Now at the same time there are those who enjoy working in such environments but that's not the majority.
Those of us who have hung on for a decade plus, start encountering inducements to stick it out until retirement. An extra few percent in your 401k, an extra week of vacation, etc. Then you question whether changing jobs and starting the seniority clock again is worth it. You rationalize. "Oh, I'll probably be sitting in a cube again, and reviewing work orders and tickets for another business. It wouldn't really be any better..."
You can't compare your experiences to what other people experience, some people truly are comfortable because they can manage work and their person life side by side. Now if you're someone who doesn't want to be a part of that well let me tell you that to earn money you have to work. Even people who are "influencers" have to work and the toll on them can be tough too to always entertain their target audience. It becomes a job at the end of the day.

Its easier to be friends with people with unrelated departments
@@YouAreNotThatGuy4844 Well it didn’t affect our friendship. So I don’t think becoming management automatically means everyone will hate you. I didn’t hate him, which is the point I was making. I also don’t necessarily think it’s right that people who keep their heads down and work hard get passed over. But that’s how it works at most companies, those who are popular and stand out get rewarded - even if they’re not the top performers.
This seems like a really chill work environment. This time Wojak was the one who blew it.
I gotta get back to my desk”
Oh and god forbid you have genuinely nice coworkers. These dudes will shriek and act like being friendly is overbearing and a crime against their freedom.
I mean they fired the guy for farting lol

working in IT is pretty cool. Been in a tech support role for 2 years and just moved to IT infra emphasis with cloud & azure so I work remote. One thing I miss is the satisfaction and simplicity of fixing low level issues, managing inventory & the variety of tasks. IT support roles are in demand and I would recommend this industry if you enjoy problem solving.
I make 25 an hour in California. I start off and helpdesk, but now I’m in connectivity. We are a sharp dealer and I deal more With copiers now I surprisingly enjoy it

Hey do you have any specific advice for people getting into IT? I’m studying for the A+ but kind of struggle to see it getting me in the door.
@@frankythomas1032 Hi, I did that path and not even in the US where it's easier. You need A+, Network+, Security+ and some luck, but adding AWS and/or Microsoft cloud certs will add a lot of ease to enter. Don't be afraid to do IT support as first job, and never stop learning. I keep studying after 12 years. Just be constant and think long term, DONT ABANDON THE PLAN and you WILL get the results.
I love how realistic office culture is portrayed here. As for the last joke, this is why you don't use indeed on the work computer.
The gag of "chip in $10 for an employee you have never spoken with" was just TOOO on point!
It reminds me of Office Space. That movie was so accurate that is was depressingly scary. You saw yourself in those traffic scenes, you saw your co-workers in all the characters. It was like a comedy/documentary.
The toilet scene is perfect.
It’s amazing how fully grown adults don’t seem to understand how to use the toilet. Literally shit everywhere.
those 'grown adults' are in fact, mostly from a certain sub-continent.
@sistemasrbija and another area where they don't know how to use a toilet so the stand and squat on the seat, unbelievable.
You fucking swear that some people were never potty trained

Lot of these IT jobs are outsourced now or they hire an H1b visa guy who then hires more guys like himself.

Ask for the pay rise or leave for another job. If they push you so hard, then it means you do your work great. So, you are more valuable for them than what you are paid.

If Michael learned from the old lady and turned off his monitor...
LMAO I'm currently watching this while working my office job, here are some of the rules I've learned.
Most of your coworkers aren't your friends
-Your managers are def not your friends ( you can be friendly tho/DO NOT overshare)
-Never be the first one to talk smack or criticize.
-Always have your monitors (at least one) where people cant see them at a glans
-Get a Bluetooth wireless keyboard and mouse that you can use with your computer and phone
-Set phone on stand to the side and have privacy screen, you can use it and always look busy. you can also use your own personal browser so they cant track your searches.
-If you take phone calls and have a headset you can connect your headset to stream media.
-Always use company time for bathroom breaks
- Find the minimum threshold for work and do about 20% more to stay out of the radar.
- save money and move up or find a better job.
Good luck!

I noticed how this boss was nicer than other bosses in previous episodes.

If you want live happy you have to stick on a few things
1 Do the job / make a business you like: If you don't, then there will be no escape to get another one. Trust me
2 Invest : Investing should be the 1st thing that comes after paying your taxes (or not lol).
"We will walk non-stop towards our goal we want on the path we opened!"
Mustafa Kemal Ataturk
You really made my month I guess. Stories like these are so relatable and the climax was too good.

one of the biggest humiliations is when your raise is 50 cents more an hour. these managers are always kissing the bosses rear ends at our expense. I never could believe there's not more violence in the workplace. people just put up with it.
The monitors facing the door sent me
As someone who has worked a job dealing with real problems: The easier the job, the “bigger” the little things are.
I work in an office doing purchasing and I asked my boss for a raise this past week and he just looked at me like I was an idiot and ungrateful.
I previously was looking around and other companies are offering way more money than I’m making.
When you know your worth go after it 💪🏾
Yeah same here I'm the only one in office along with my manager because everyone is either on vacation or calls out sick so they can work at home.
Working in offices is fine! But then again, the wake up call hasnt hit me yet.
The last part about stop investing in any form of relationship with the guy leaving is unfortunately accurate with my last job where right after being fired I got absolutely ghosted big everyone in the office I thought I was in good terms with , absurd
Looks comfy honestly
As an office worker, the gift collab thing to some random person in the company really hits deep hahah

I like how these videos make every job look kind of bad. Makes me laugh.
Still far better than retail, that shit is hell.
The monitor being off is so accurate
office work wouldnt be something for me, im rather self employed working from my laptop wherever i want
