Just wanted to give a big shout out and say thank you Alex for answering all of my questions and guide me along the way and completing my plane. 👍everything turned out great. I can’t wait to take it to the park tomorrow and fly it. I did not go through the nose to put my ESC in. I decided to go underneath of the balsa wood where the battery sits, then put a new piece of balsa over top of the hole with battery straps. CG seems to be perfect.! 👍 just wanted to say how much I appreciate all the help and for being patient with me and answering all my questions.lol thanks again, Alex you’re the man!
Awesome build. I'm looking into this plane, but like you, I want the extra power for punch outs. I'm also not a fan of the stock tires. Would you be willing to provide links for all the upgrades you did?
I’m so happy with the results of my plane. I wish I could send you pictures.? I am running the 2700 spectrum battery in it now. Do you think I would be able to run a 5000? Be too much weight? I have plenty of room to move battery back. If needed. what is the biggest battery that you have run in your set up? I thought maybe even a 4000? I am getting a little over 6 min of flight time with the 2700. Do you think I could at least get away with a 4000 without losing my CG? Please let me know when your thoughts are thanks, Alex..
Could I use this ESC instead of the castle creations talon 90 amp? I found this speed controller on Hobby Horizon, but it’s an 85 amp. It does have the yellow reverse thrust wire. It’s called the Skyhawk 85A from Hobby Horizon ..Any information you can give me I would appreciate it so very much. The reverse thrust is definitely not a dealbreaker I can live without it, but I would like to have it. Ps it will not allow me to upload a picture of it. It’s an 85 amp 3S.-8s esc but it does have the other yellow wire for thrust reverse
Could you please tell me how much flight time you’re getting out of it? I realize you’re running it pretty hard but at a normal flying pace, but would you gess . just thought maybe that 90 amp would really draw fast on a 4S battery.. I know it’s gonna have a lot more speed and power, with th upgrade but it’s still a 4s battery would I at least get more than five minutes fly time?
Good morning Alex. I just wanted to answer my own question.lol I just got my propellers today in the mail and I see now that it has a thinner hub in the original propeller so now I see why you can use the original backplate without grinding it thinner.🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ Only thing I’m waiting for now is. my ESC is there a trick to finding out which wires or which on the motor can I just test them? I’m sure ones forward ones reverse and one’s negative.?
I am completely lost on where to mount my castle talon 90 esc? did you have to cut away the Balsawood underneath the battery tray? I’m completely lost. Alex I wanted to fly it today, but I do not know where you mounted yours. Did you have to take out the battery floor tray is yours mounted under the battery I don’t understand where you put it at in the plane. It will not go in from the front there’s not enough room in the Styrofoam.? any information you can give me I would so kindly appreciate it thank you Alex
Would you please answer a question for me? I got my castle Talon 90 esc today. Where did you mount it at in the plain? It’s so much larger than the original 45A esc would you please be so kind to tell me where exactly you mounted yours at? It will not fit in the bottom of the fuselage like the old one there’s not enough room? please help me out.
I’m getting ready to purchase this exact ESC but I noticed it does not have a small yellow wire for thrust reverse. Is it capable of having thrust reverse? Do I just snip the yellow wire and plug it into my channel 5 on my receiver?
Did you have to change anything to get the new motor to fit the firewall ? And did the prop adapter that came with the new motor have enough shaft length to get out passed the cowl ? One thing I don't like about this stock is the noisy motor. Hate to dump another 160 in this with esc and motor but if it gives power and noise reduction it might be worth it. Thx for your vid. Thnks
I have a very important question. I was hoping you could answer for me. I put5” foamy tires on my PA 18. Super cub 1700. Just like you did, but I did not change the motor out still running on stock motor but now my CG is so so tail heavy now because of the lightweight tires. I cannot get the nose to come close to being level so I cannot fly it. how did you get your CG?with those light foam wheels is it because the new motor is heavier? I’m not sure what I should do.?I really like the lighter tires but there’s no way I can fly it with the tail being so heavy I have the spectrum 2700 4s battery all the way forward and it is still very tail heavy. Is that motor heavier than stock? Or did you have to put some kind of weight in the nose any information you could help me I would so kindly appreciate it.
