A Ranked queue would only work if every user had a place on a global leaderboard. The sweaty players would only want to play there for bragging rights, and then a casual queue would genuinely just be there for a break or people to prioritise fun and being silly in matches. If the Ranked mode didn’t have a leaderboard, the sweats would just prefer to play in the causal mode because it’s more likely they’d win there.

I think this game is fine, it's asymmetrical and the community built an echo chamber. It's not perfect but look where this game started, it is not normal for a small game with such a unique gameplay loop to last this long and achieve what it has. Though there is room for improvement
I 1000% agree with the ranked queue idea. The casual scene in this game is near nonexistent and even if you try and chill and have fun you get matched against sweaty killers and you just can’t have fun. This would also fix the new player experience bc they can go into the casual less sweaty queue to learn the ropes before hopping into ranked
The thing is that because dbd is an asymmetrical game with different gameplay and objectives for both sides, I'm not really sure what "casual play" would even look like. Like, other than not swfying, there's no real way to play casual as a survivor, you have to do gens to progress your objective, if you get chased you do your best to survive, the only thing that would change is possibly perk choices, and even then there's nothing stopping people from bringing meta perks on the casual que. On the killer side as well, people will say don't tunnel ever, don't slug ever, but sometimes these are just the right call in the moment and get your objective done quicker, deliberately making bad choices that will hurt your chances of winning isn't playing casually, it's throwing. Unless they put actual restrictions on the perks, items, offerings and killers you can play, the only difference in the ques would be the names, and knowing how sweaty comp players are in dbd, I think only the hard sweats would choose to play ranked, anyone who wants a better chance at winning will just play on the casual que, which would fill the casual que with bully swyfs and meta killers looking to add people to their tiktok compilations and TH-cam videos. Dbd just isn't the kind of game that can have a clear distinguishment between ranked and casual players.

I want there to be a dev that streams every 2-3 weeks who answers questions and ACTUALLY gives the community and idea of what they are working on. STOP LEAKS being the main source of what's to come for the game. It's ridiculous.
It is the fun of the game though. The type of fun you have in the game may be super limited, but when you have fun, you have the most fun and it's addictive

I think most of the problems stem from the heavy RNG elements and the perks for both sides. A win doesn't really feel like a win, but a loss still feels horrible because most of the time the game just isn't fair. But in terms of perks, they need to stop adding perks. There's just too many. It's already to the point that balancing them would take forever on top of whatever else they're working on.

Houndmasters release was just comically bad, like just so buggy that you couldn't do anything but laugh at it, half the major bugs still haven't been fixed with her and it feels like they've just said "good enough" and moved on, feel like that seems to be their philosophy with this game atm as long as its still making money
i think what bhvr can just creat group of the most trustful and expirience dbd players like otz hens and other who spend a lot of time in dbd and know its main issues. As i think it a most lazy but still working way. Like peoples from this group can 2-3 times in mouth get together to discuss various problems and find the most compromise way to fix them, after which, at the end of the month, contact the developers and express their idea.

The "Why do you like DBD" question reminds me of when people ask why I enjoy Dark Souls PVP even though it's objectively not good. It's ultimately because there's nothing else that delivers on the total package of experiences that PVP in Dark Souls delivers on. Dead By Daylight is the same way. There are other Asymmetrical PVP games, even other asym horror games, but none of them quite scratch the itch that DBD scratches. As soon as Lords of the Fallen came out, my attention shifted immediately and almost permanently away from Dark Souls PVP. I don't think that'll ever happen with DBD though. BHVR has made them basically immortal in the Asym horror genre because of their relationships with the major horror icons. Even if a new game comes out and it's great, it won't have Pyramid Head, or Freddy, or Michael Myers, etc., and for a lot of people that'll be a deal breaker.

New killers release with bugs, and every update also sprinkles in bugs to older killers (like Knight or Dredge! Woo!), which really makes you fucking wonder do they bother playtesting their game? Sometimes bugs will go on for a while without being fixed??? Or for example when Wesker had game-breaking bugs I think last year during Christmas, and they didn't killswitch him because with how popular he is they'd probably lose players/money LOL? And it's not the first time they don't killswitch something because it wouldn't be beneficial to them... Buggy releases don't even happen just to killers, plenty of survivors have released with buggy base or shitty cosmetics, they literally sabotage some of their survivors on launch. Haddie having only shitty cosmetics on launch, no green rarity which she eventually finally got... Gabriel still doesn't have one and his cosmetics are still shitty! As well as bugged??? I myself reported to BHVR last summer a long list of bugged Vittorio cosmetics, some have been reported for over a year and still no fixes. Vittorio's current rift recolor literally clips in a bunch of his cosmetics, how shitty is that? And bugged-on-release cosmetics are so frequent nowadays, Rain on release had plenty of facial animation bugs (bugs which plague most female survivors somehow, still!), Baermar's christmas sweater also released completely bugged it had to be fucking killswitched?? And just the other day, the Junji Ito collection which released with bugs, as well as the whole region-lock, no-refund scandal. They just don't bother testing things anymore, PTBs feel essentially useless to me personally, because things will be just as buggy on release. And honestly? I just started playing in 2024 and I honestly do not hate the game. There are frustrating things about it that are tough or impossible to completely address, and it's incredibly difficult for new players to learn everything about it, but it's not that serious. There are steady tweaks and updates and new content. They fixed houndmaster within literally a week of her release. You sound like you're just burnt out, to me.
I played both survivor and killer. and always being friendly, never tbag, no tunnel. Even when I use killer and get tbag by toxic, idc, they are not good anyways. Mostly toxic survivor will always match with their friend, 100%. So don't worry too much my guy. Keep your respect up. ❤
Theirs tons of stuff they could add easily to help the game . Like showing your teammates perks during the loading screen just like the mobile . I disagree on the ranked mode though . If you've ever played fighting games . The casual mode is always stuffed with great players practicing there two hit combos .
Only reason I'd agree with a ranked queue is to lower the amount of campers/tunnelers in normal queue. But queue times are sometimes already terrible without different queues.
No matter how many hours you have in dbd as survivor it doesn't matter no matter what. I have only 800 hours, half survivor half killer and if I'm up against 4 p100 survivors, it still feels like it's one sided as killer.

DBD is just super outdated now. progression and gameplay has been stuck in 2017 without evolving. i dunno... i love DBD, its all i play everyday and im currently at 3800 hours on Xbox over about 5 years now. I dont stream or make videos and i work a full time job. I dont get angry or upset over anything ingame and i legit enjoy playing this game, it gives me such a buzz everytime i get chased and infact, id rather be tunneled out instantly instead of having to do gens so thats my opinion of the game. Basically what im saying is, noone and nothing makes me feel like i have to play, but i want to, everyday religiously because i enjoy it so much. Ofcourse everyone is different and will feel different emotions towards things that happen such as tunneling or whatever but i love it, its exciting and even tense at times but most of all, its fun, for me. Another thing iv just thought of is that sunken time/cost falacy... to that i say firstly its not sunken, it still exists for me to use whenever i want if i was to come away from the game. Secondly, i have more hours in Skyrim and i manage to come away from that easy enough when I found something else to play. im not obligated to play DBD for anything other than my own amusement or entertainment, same as any game.
2:00 and as a new player you have to a) buy every single dlc of the game so you won't miss out on the perks (vc sabe que essas coisas sao caras pra nos) or b) wait weeks for the pay walled perks to appear on the weekly rotation that has around 3% chance of getting the perk you need AND you need to do this while playing against maxxed out players
Thats the thing about deadbydaylight, it is in the best and most balanced place its ever been, but that doesnt mean its good. I love the game, but bhvr has their priorities in the wrong place every single update, they come out eith things that shouldve been in the game years ago, and then make decisions that no one wnsted and messes up the game

Honestly I love the fact that dbd is such a mess - it wouldn't be the gane we all know and love/hate otherwise. If dbd actually implemented every change people asked for, arguably, it wouldn't be the same game.
Gameplay of dbd should be changed, gens is extremely outdated mechanic, nobody likes repairing them. Add new ways to escape, what tcm did good is a different and unique ways to win a match. Give us more ways to avoid the killer beside pallets and windows, give survivors something to fight back like in F13 or Evil Dead. For the killers make them the real slashers, 4 swings instead of 1, allow them to grab a survivors and if they don't have knife or anything, they just dead. There is so, so many ways to upgrade the game i can't even count
i always wanted to become a youtuber but nothing ever worked out for me, then i realised something, i play dbd a LOT and i watch dbd youtubers a LOT so why not start my own channel? dbd is perfect for content creation, so many builds and killers you can make videos about and it doesnt even take that long too!! i may hate this game but i still enjoy recording and editing my videos, i treat this more as a hobby then anything, anyways enought with the rant lol
They already had a rank mode and it was awful. That's why they got rid of it. If they brought it back it'd just be the same thing. Players were just dripping sweat in a luck based game.
He's made it super clear that he would in a heartbeat. If you cut through the bs he resents his viewers bc they drop off when he plays other things so he feels like he's stuck with them and with DbD. Which are things you probably shouldn't tell the people supporting your 'career', but I get it. You see this cycle happen to many game content creators, and it isn't just DbD. If I could make literally one change, I would remove hooking. Do like 2v8 and the caging. Hooking feels super clunky and time wasting on killer, and with the caging hiding hook location and unhook tunneling and camping would be way less common (since killers now have to use guesswork to find the unhook). And the incredibly obvious thing they should have added, in game survivor comms. But that should have been added years ago lmao atp it's ridiculous they haven't, since it is, after all, a team based game.
Dead by daylight is not new player friendly at all. Years ago, sure. But now, no. You have to learn the basics... how to do a gen and hit skill checks, what killers sound like, when to run, your perks. Then later on you need to learn looping, knowledge of every perk in the game. When to unhook, when to heal, when to pressure gens, etc. There is so much learning for new players.... and that is just survivor stuff.
Yeah whoever it was that said it has a good new player experience has to be getting paid or something lol, I put in like 100 hours and could afford 2 characters when all of them were still 8000 shards. Even now new and and somewhat recent characters are still 8000 shards. If you want some perks in the game its either buy the licensed dlc or wait who knows how long for them to be in the shrine.

Thats the thing about deadbydaylight, it is in the best and most balanced place its ever been, but that doesnt mean its good. I love the game, but bhvr has their priorities in the wrong place every single update, they come out eith things that shouldve been in the game years ago, and then make decisions that no one wnsted and messes up the game

Honestly I love the fact that dbd is such a mess - it wouldn't be the gane we all know and love/hate otherwise. If dbd actually implemented every change people asked for, arguably, it wouldn't be the same game.
Gameplay of dbd should be changed, gens is extremely outdated mechanic, nobody likes repairing them. Add new ways to escape, what tcm did good is a different and unique ways to win a match. Give us more ways to avoid the killer beside pallets and windows, give survivors something to fight back like in F13 or Evil Dead. For the killers make them the real slashers, 4 swings instead of 1, allow them to grab a survivors and if they don't have knife or anything, they just dead. There is so, so many ways to upgrade the game i can't even count
If you only enjoy 20% of your games, it's probably time to stop playing. I would say I only dislike 5% of my games at most.

i always wanted to become a youtuber but nothing ever worked out for me, then i realised something, i play dbd a LOT and i watch dbd youtubers a LOT so why not start my own channel? dbd is perfect for content creation, so many builds and killers you can make videos about and it doesnt even take that long too!! i may hate this game but i still enjoy recording and editing my videos, i treat this more as a hobby then anything, anyways enought with the rant lol
They already had a rank mode and it was awful. That's why they got rid of it. If they brought it back it'd just be the same thing. Players were just dripping sweat in a luck based game.

He's made it super clear that he would in a heartbeat. If you cut through the bs he resents his viewers bc they drop off when he plays other things so he feels like he's stuck with them and with DbD.
Which are things you probably shouldn't tell the people supporting your 'career', but I get it. You see this cycle happen to many game content creators, and it isn't just DbD. It's why I wouldn't and couldn't do what they do- it plays hell with your mental health.
to be honest, i be seeing plenty of youtubers who were scare to branch off to other things and still end up well, if not better. if puff doesn’t enjoy this game, he should play what he enjoys and build another fanbase wherever he goes

If I could make literally one change, I would remove hooking. Do like 2v8 and the caging. Hooking feels super clunky and time wasting on killer, and with the caging hiding hook location and unhook tunneling and camping would be way less common (since killers now have to use guesswork to find the unhook). And the incredibly obvious thing they should have added, in game survivor comms. But that should have been added years ago lmao atp it's ridiculous they haven't, since it is, after all, a team based game.

Dead by daylight is not new player friendly at all. Years ago, sure. But now, no. You have to learn the basics... how to do a gen and hit skill checks, what killers sound like, when to run, your perks. Then later on you need to learn looping, knowledge of every perk in the game. When to unhook, when to heal, when to pressure gens, etc. There is so much learning for new players.... and that is just survivor stuff.
Pve could save the game like 4 survivors and a killer against the entity

Yeah whoever it was that said it has a good new player experience has to be getting paid or something lol, I put in like 100 hours and could afford 2 characters when all of them were still 8000 shards.
Even now new and and somewhat recent characters are still 8000 shards. If you want some perks in the game its either buy the licensed dlc or wait who knows how long for them to be in the shrine.
