Sunday mornings are not the same without Charles Osgood's soothing voice, bowtie and gentle demeanor. My sincere condolences to his family and many friends.🙏
Journalism at its best. Uncovering truths experienced every day by all of us, by revealing the lives of people that the media is usually not ever going to be interested in reporting on - the little guy or gal.
AS A MIDDLE AGED MAN who started watching Sunday Morning, every Sunday, since I was a little boy, I can safely say I have never lost control and cried so hard over a celebrity loss then I cried tonight. Thank you so much Charles for all those positive stories and memories.
Oh, no. 🥺 After Charles Kuralt passed, I thought no one could host "CBS Sunday Morning" better. Never been happier to be so wrong. Charles Osgood took the baton and ran his own, unique marathon. Condolences to his family at home, his family at work, and to the many out there who would have been proud to call him family. A true treasure and gift to all. ❤
Think about it Charles Kuralt did the first 15 years of the show and died ironically on the 4th of July in 1997 at the too young age of 62. Charles Osgood not only surpassed Kuralt's tenure as host with 22 years but he outlived him by almost 30 years and by the way the family said he had dementia.
He had the most comforting gentle voice. Thank you Mr Osgood for giving so many years of faithful service to your listeners. Condolences to his family, coworkers and many fans. RIP
I'm am Canadian and I've watched CBS Morning News since its inception and it has always been my favourite. Both Charles were superb in delivering us the best news. Thank you Charles Osgood, the world has lost a beautiful soul.
There was a time in my life when missing CBS Sunday Morning would sully my whole week. Mr. Osgood will be missed as a genuine and pleasant part of so many of our lives.
His delivery was so warm, inviting, and infectious. He knew how to tell a story as it was an art form. Have a peaceful, eternal rest Mr. Osgood. Thanks for the memories.
Man, my morning started out bad and just got sadder. R.I.P Charles Osgood. You took Charles Kuralt's mantle and left your own mark. I also love you for being the narrator of the Jim Carrey version of Horton Hears a Who.

That voice! ❤ I used to love hearing him sing while playing the piano. He was elegance, warmth, comfort every Sunday Morning. May you rest in peace Mr. Osgood 🙏🏼
I love his voice, his style, his wit, his show. You made this world a better place, Charles Osgood. Thank you. May you rest in peace. You will be missed. Another CBS classic one of a kind employee.
Jane, you must feel it to be an honor and a privilege to follow in the footsteps of a good man who's name is Osgood. I feel truly fortunate to be one of many souls in his audience. Farewell Charles, may your spirit be with us all on Sunday Mornings.
RIP Charles. I loved watching you through all of your years hosting Sunday Morning. I think of you every Sunday when the show starts. Thank you for wonderful memories. ❤😿
As a college student Sunday Morning captivated me and Charles was the one I kept coming back to see. His broadcasts enriched my life greatly. Thank you Charles. You'll be missed by many.
Oh my, I will miss his wonderful stories, sense of humor, witty poetry and songs, and of course, his enjoyment on meeting people around the world and sharing their stories. May his memory become a blessing.
Oh, dear, I'm sorry to hear this news. I haven't thought about him, in quite some time, and yet, this wasn't the way I wanted to do it. That really is a shame, but he did live such a powerful life, at his age, and he certainly led a great career, and hosted this show, for a phenomenal 22 seasons. He can now live peacefully with all the past CBS News correspondents, as well as Charles Kuralt, who introduced him to us, on his last show, in April of 1994. Charles Osgood, thank you, from the bottom of our Sunday Morning hearts, for the way you presented yourself, the wondrous poems, the stylish suits and bow-ties, and also your narration, over the years. You shall always be missed, forever, and you shall always be given a place, in our Sunday Morning memories.
Charlie Osgood was such an amazing man. He had such big shoes to fill after Charles Kuralt & he did it fantastically, but in his own way. I have such fond memories of watching this show as a kid with my dad on Sunday mornings after we would finish the farm chores. I will miss him.
May he rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon him. A class act that you felt comfortable welcoming into your home one Sunday after another. I send my sincere condolences to his colleagues and his family.

When I was four years old in 1960, I wanted to be a CBS newsman. When I listen to Cronkite, Kuralt, Severied, Mudd, and Osgood, I still want to be a CBS Newsman. So long Charlie, I will keep the radio on.
I remember watching Sunday Morning with my Gramma every Sunday during my childhood. Charles Osgood will be sorely missed by my family and I. My condolences to his friends, family, and colleagues who knew him well.
From one Bronxite to another, rest in peace. I’ve missed him since he retired. I watched him since he came into his position as a young woman (I’m now 42). His voice was golden, but he was the whole package - his voice of reason, delivery of each story from a humanistic perspective, his musicality, etc. I can go on and on. I almost never missed watching him each Sunday morning. I wish his family condolences and thank them sharing their golden treasure with those of us out here in TV/radio land.
LOVED him...and those pipes! I spent years and years of Sunday mornings with him. An absolute treasure. A THANK YOU to Chalres and sincere condolences to all of you, past and present, at CBS Sunday morning.
What a wonderful journalist and kind human being, loved his story’s and his comforting, sweet voice. RIP, thank you for what you gave to the world Charles, you will be so missed.
Growing up as an Army Brat in Germany during the 1980's it was always comforting to hear Mr. Osgood's wonderful voice on the American Forces Network (AFN). RIP to a talent and a wonderful person.
The loss of an absolute legend💔 To family, friends and colleagues of dear Charles Osgood, my family is thinking of you, our thoughts and prayers are with you....😢💔
The voice of Mr. Charles Osgood drew you in. My condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. His work for CBS News was truly appreciated. Rest in peace Mr. Osgood.🥀
Remarkable newsman, remarkable career, remarkable legacy. Though I'm sad for his passing, I just can't think of Charles Osgood without also feeling the warmth he positively radiated, both on TV and "on the radio". Godspeed, Charles.💔💗🕊
Charles Osgood was truly a very multi talented individual, who excelled in broadcasting, newswriting, poetry, novelist, and pianist. Charles Osgood will be sadly missed by his family, friends and long-time fans of his career at CBS News.
One of the all time news greats. He joins Rooney, Cronkite, Sevareid, Glenn, so many great voices now silent. CBS has had more than its share of legendary news talent. And to quote him, nothing could be finer than a crisis that is minor in the morning. We'll see you on the radio in that great big newsroom in the sky.
I would watch on TV & listen to Charles Osgood on the radio. My condolences to his family, friends, & work colleagues. Rest in Peace Charles Osgood. 😢🙏🏼
I’m so sorry to learn of his passing, he added so much to the show every Sunday Morning. I’ve missed him playing the piano & singing, especially at Christmas. A Life Well-Lived. Godspeed, Mr. Osgood.
Thank you, Mr Osgood, for being with us on Sunday Mornings, and for sharing all those wonderful stories and music with us. May you rest peacefully now.
My dad was the news director for CBS affiliate KOLN in Lincoln Nebraska during the 1950s until he died in the early 1960s. It breaks my heart every time I see one of these CBS "Old Timers" has passed on. It was always a pleasure watching and listening to Mr. Osgood. May his memory be a blessing.
"It breaks my heart every time I see one of these CBS "Old Timers" has passed on." It broke mine when it was announced that that longtime TPIR emcee Bob Barker had passed on at 99-- he was just as much the old-timer as Osgood, but in a different field there.
A national treasure! When respectfulness, professionalism, real journalism, reporting the truth, maturity, responsibility, talent, kindness, & humanity were some of the Hallmarks of America! Rest in peace, Charles! ☺️🥰
Loved Charles Osgood and was sad when he retired from Sunday Morning. Now I'm sad again. I remember seeing him once in NYC near my office. Southwest corner of 55th and Broadway. I didn't bother him but was excited to see him. Always loved his soothing voice and calm demeanor. Rest in peace, good sir.
What a gentleman! I would say that my life-long love for America and the knowing of what America was was in its grander part because of Mr. Osgood! He made the world truly a better place with the warmth of his one-of-a-kind personality! My love goes to his beloved family and to all the people whose lives were touched by this magnificent man♥️
Aww. Rest in peace, Mr. Osgood. I started watching CBS Sunday Morning with you as the host. I missed you when you left the show, but I hope you enjoyed your retirement with your family and friends. You will be missed! 😢
