They were responsible for destroying cities, crops, and neighborhoods too as they grew and mass exterminations became a necessary evil.

Some of these stories don't stray far from actual things that happen, all it does is give the animal a voice, a face, and a way for you to understand it. Other ones, like the Universe 25 video bit ago, is based on actual experiments. Although now that I think of it technically they're also allegorical for invasive species introduced by animal rights groups that don't care about the damage inflicted upon ecosystems or not actually caring enough to go the full mile with their activism or even defend invaded species from extermination regardless of the damage already being done (although fluffies have the problem of being so utterly harmless that even reproducing like cicadas doesn't explain the damage they cause. Usually "make animals sick" and "eat herbivores food" is added but the later has the problem with fluffy intelligence being... not very much. Or very strong biting power). And yet others apparently use fictional animal abuse as a medium to get through tough stuff in life for real people although not entirely sure how accurate that is. Personally I have a headcanon that the things also have a variety of features to make them easier for the scientists to get rid of them. Like some kind of "end me" thing that drives everyone in the same room as them including the fluffy themselves to either accidentally or deliberately seek out means to unalive the tiny things. Also how easy it is to hurt them, HasBio would have probably made the final product still delicate to encourage buying more of them but not _that_ delicate that the fluffy could hurt itself. Probably had various features that needing ironing out like the smarties, braties, and toughies. Personally I like the hugbox stuff because it presents a more "what if?" style thing of HasBio actually finishing the project and creating a pet rather then a mass reproducing toy/pest.
@@inannaenigma9391 another reason i like to think the people in the actual stories dislike fluffies is a comic which i believe is called "death in wilmington" or something along the lines of that, but it basically shows that, although they look cute and seem harmless, they can cause the streets to become filthy, plug sewers with their corpses etc.
