Hi Ava, Most students find what they want to do post-grad by experiencing internships during their time at Cal Poly. A lot of times, faculty are still connected to the industries that are associated to the major so they are awesome resources for career exploration. Career Services also hosts a lot of fairs, workshops and panels to help students explore their career interests and goals too! -Cal Poly Admissions
@@CalPolyAdmissions Oh ok that would help me! I am a middle school student going into high school soon but I am not sure what I want to do. I would like to be in law enforcement but then I am also not sure if I really want to do that.
@Ava Thanks for watching our videos! The good news is you are way ahead of the curve if you are already thinking about careers. Just keep an open mind and keep exploring and you might find something you really enjoy or you might become the leader in something that doesn't even exist yet. You have plenty of time to figure out what you want to do so don't stress about it and make sure you study hard in high school. And if you have questions along the way, we are here to help! Here are some more resources our staff wanted to pass along to you: A good place to start is our major finder. Go about half way down on our admissions page www.calpoly.edu/admissions and we have a tool that helps break down careers and the potential classes you could be taking. This is a great place to start to see if anything interests you. Then you could check out our majors playlist (th-cam.com/play/PLUyv26mcsw3rif7WlxRsI_ckW86q3q4Lr.html) And listen to current students talking about the classes they are taking and the careers they could go after the graduate. Its a good way to get a first hand look into our majors. If interested in Cal Poly AND possibly law enforcement, a great thing to check out is our California Cybersecurity Institute. cci.calpoly.edu/ Also, many local law enforcement agencies offer job shadowing opportunities for students to get a real life look at whether it's a career path they'd like to pursue. Another great resource is the department of labor www.mynextmove.org/. You can search careers and they break down everything you would want to know about it. -Cal Poly Admissions
