Formalin is used to preserve dead bodies. I don't think that you want that on what you use to eat. Industrial salt is a better option

You can do that to normal laundry liquid soap. This is a transparent dish washer. You don't need harsh components

What if you don’t have the SLS
It's okay. You can add other cleaning or foaming agents but you might not be getting a transparent liquid soap. But it's still going to be soap.
