    I noticed the same smoothness with my 7950x3D. Feels like stutters just don’t exist.

    Concerning the "smoothness" feeling: you could use a tool like CapFrameX it will record the frametimes and show it on a graph. So you could compare the graphs. The less there are spikes the smoother the framerates are. Ideally you want small smooth band in the graph and not a Hedgehog shape with many spikes ;).

  • @oldmangaming1297

    I find it a little hard to believe you're only averaging 170fps on acc with the 13900k at 1080p.. I have a 13900k 6400 GSkill ram, EVGA 3080ti and a 49uw monitor and it easily gets into the 200+fps range in 1080p.. I've even been able to 1440p up into the 180-190fps on the native 1440p resolution and 240fps during practice mode.
    I did find 5.5-5.6ghz works best vs trying to over clock the 13900k. Guessing that's cause that the most the 3080ti can handle at 1800-1900 which is it's stock speed when set to max performance in the Nvidia control panel.
    Before I download all the extra software like IQue and other stuff I was able to get 200+ fps in 1440p with 25 cars on the track depending on the track.

  • @Globespy
    @Globespy ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Dan, thanks as always for your videos! They are an invaluable resource for the community.
    Can I assume you had iRacing settings at max everything for these tests? What RAM were you using with the 5800X3D?
    I'm probably gonna skip this first AM5 series as the gains at 1440p triples over the 5800X3D are just not enough to justify the expense/hassle of changing out board, RAM etc.
    Crazy to see those 1440p stats for Long Beach, and really should put a rocket up the backside of iRacing devs to realize that they simply can't keep relying on faster CPU's when it's become clear that the gains are getting less and less especially with newer tracks, which is to be expected until they either find some more hidden stuff in DX11 or just make the move to a new API that can actually use all these friggin cores in modern PC's. They have made a small fortune since the pandemic, which we can only hope is going into the game engine.
    Cheers!

  • @mrmidnight32
    @mrmidnight32 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    For future tests can you test VR since many racers are moving into VR these days since CPU’s and GPU’s can finally handle it. And it’s the most taxing in most of these sims. Even more than some tripple screens
    Edit: Also why did you skip the 7800x3d?? It’s supposed to be the best chip available even beyond the 7950x3d in some cases.

  • @jmhagle
    @jmhagle ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I get most people don't know how to or like to change settings in the bios, but the 13900k relies more heavily on memory speed without the extra v cache and it scales really well with increased speeds and lower latency timings. 6000mt is really just an AMD limit because of the infinity fabric between the ccd's and Intel ram can push to 8000mt now, so it would be nice to show what Intel is actually capable of with good ram. Intel is not touching the x3d on efficiency though, that's for sure.

    Great video! I'm surprised a lot of reviewers have ignored the 7900X3D (GamersNexus saying it's useless to buy), but at least in Canada, it's a $200 difference to get the 7950X3D.
    Without doing professional work that needs the 7950X3D, I don't see the point paying $200 more for it vs the 7900X3D for purely gaming unless I'm missing something or you want the best of the best.
    Surely the 7900X3D benchmarks between the 7950X3D and 7800X3D simulated no?

    • @DanSuzuki
      @DanSuzuki  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hard to predict tbh. The 7900X3D has 6 cores on each chiplet whereas the 7800X3D "only" has the 8 V-Cache Cores.

    • @mathijs727
      @mathijs727 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 7900X3D has two CCDs with 6 cores each, one CCD with 3D V-Cache and one without. Gaming is only fast when running on the CCD with 3D V-Cache. Hence, you only get 6 "gaming" cores compared to 8 with the 7950X3D and the future 7800X3D (single CCD).

    • @Hendrycks
      @Hendrycks ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mathijs727 iRacing doesn't use a lot of cores, it mainly pegs 1 or 2. So the 7900X3D should be faster than the 7800X3D for that use case for sure. I had a 7900X and bought a 5800X3D as a stop gap which my wife will now inherit and it was miles faster in iRacing with both triples and VR (HP G2).
      Most games don't utilize many cores especially well in general, which is why AMD has still faltered a bit in gaming vs brute forcing a single fast core with Intel in the past (until the 5800X3D and now).

      I upgraded from the 5600x to the 5800x3d, both with a 3080Ti and same RAM specs you have. I did notice an uplift, especially on better optimized tracks... still some issues on underperfoming tracks. Unfortunately I did not benchmark it to give you some specific data, but I can say I was streaming on a different computer and now do it all on the same rig as I've noticed very little performance drop from streaming on the same rig (remember extra cores). For the price point that you can get a 5800x3d, without having to change anything else on the system I'd say yes, I'm happy with the change - just don't expect the same bump you would get if you changed to newer gen (on average I'm still running the same settings I was running with the 5600x for example, just getting more consistent fps on triple 1440p)

    7800X3D is going to be clocked a lot lower than the 7800X, never mind the 7950X3D. 7950X3D max clock speed is 5.7GHz, compared to 5.0GHz for the 7800X3D. All cores is 5.0GHz vs 4.6GHz. So, you'd need to underclock the 7950X3D as well as turning off half the cores.
    Yes, AMD has deliberately hamstrung the 7800X3D. The answer is obvious - nobody would buy the 7950X3D if the 7800X3D would get within striking distance of it. Looks like it won't.

    Something don't add up here.
    You watch 7950x videos and iracing and the intel kills it, but yet here it's just level and beat by the 7950x.
    Something is not right.
    There is also another chip KS version and the ram is limited by what AMD can do not what intel can do.
    Just struggling to belove these result tbh.
    Mainly because other video don't match with what is for 7950x which has been out long enough now.
    Where is the intel stuff and pc ???
    I love the stability of the intel stuff I have got and other stuff but the intel has always been the best.
    I would always stay intel if there is only a few FPS in it.
    I had chosen intel again for the new buomd with KS and 7800mhz ram.
    I am yet to see benchmarks using this against AMD but yet alot are very close and there is loads that are not.
    Just like fanboy heaven I think.
    How can you trust anything for results.
    To me this don't make sense the 7950x side of things.
    Obviously other videos could be wrong also.lol
    Intel is defo being limited here with he ram.

    • @DanSuzuki
      @DanSuzuki  ปีที่แล้ว

      7950x and 13900k are very much on par depending on the replay scenario you have - in some the 13900k is better, in some the 7950x. I will never understand how people can become a fanboy of a .... chip manufacturer 😅
      The intel pc is on the rig, and I only have the K version :) And yeah, with more expensive RAM and especially time spent on tuning the RAM plus OC'ing you can get more performance out of both platforms. But I think 95% of all users don't even know how to tune RAM and there are probably more people not even running eny XMP/EXPO profiles than people who really finetune it 😅 So for me getting a decently priced 6000 kit is the more realistic scenario.
      Absolutely agree on Intel being less problematic!

      @@DanSuzuki but what intel motherboard's used ect..
      All we know is the AMD is maxed out for kit Intel is not seems an unfair bench to me.
      You will never change my mind.
      KS is intel's top chip 7950x3d is amds top chip.
      AMD run at 6000mhz ram and tops out.
      Intel runs at 7600/ 8000mhz not overclocked and will be faster with the xmp setup same as and has expo.
      The point is this is not the top stuff for intel.
      U till that happens nobody can say anything about which is better, price don't matter it's about which is the fastest.
      It literally is like dropping slower ram in the AMD to I Tel as a comparison what is going on.
      Yes they are both fast and the gains are nothing, but Amd does have the upgrade path so kinda is the main reason you would go and.
      The problem I have any time I have switched to and it's been a nightmare system, every Intel system has been rock solid and fast or faster with older kit in real life.
      To me these are two very different chips requiring different thing to make them work.
      AMD needs the cache intel needs the KS and the ram to make each a bit better.
      But as it's stands this is intel second chip Vs amds best chip with best maxed out option to be at its peak.
      Untill we get the KS chip and the ram and the z790 board running then it's going to be the same thing over and over people are avoiding these test for some reason.
