Plant your tomatoes beside your nettles because the aphids will go for the nettles and stay off your tomatoes.

You feel it when you see a place made with love; cats, bees, kirpis...they are all well looked after in your beautiful garden 🦔🐝💚 by the way, we also have a saying in Turkish as "Kirpi yavrusunu pamuğum diye severmiş" meaning: "Hedgehog mom loves her baby by referring to him as 'my cotton'."
It is used to say that one does not see/give attention to the bad traits of someone he/she loves" 🦔❤

I’m envious of your delphinium! That is one plant that I simply have had no luck at growing.😢 I’ve also been cleaning up the flower beds. It’s a little sad but it also reminds me that they’ll be back in the spring! I also thin out my plants and share with other gardeners. This is my favorite ritual because those plants always do better than the garden store varieties (the dreaded delphinium failures) and when they bloom I have a special smile from remembering the person that gave me that plant. Weird, I know. I simply love your garden space and your little adopted hedgehog 🦔 Kerpi. You inspire us all sweet lady! 🌻

Great tidy up. Eucalyptus young leaves are button shape but they change into long leather looking leaves as they age and as you now know, grow into huge trees. However, cutting back hard encourages new button leaves and keeps it under control.

I know it's an older video but regarding planting perennials and plants in general, it's good to dig a hole, put a plant in and fill the hole with water. Only when the water seeps into the soil you cover it with remaining soli and water again to compact it. It will keep moisture much longer than only watering it from the top.

    Hi Catherine🌻,
Kirpi is such a cute name! Sad to see the sunflowers go but happy to see the rest of the garden, especially the snapdragons. I know the sunflowers were because of a happy accident, but perhaps next year you could have them near the fence. They definitely love your garden. I also saw that they come in miniature size at the garden centre. I guess you could have a whole choir of sunflowers organised by height, haha!
That was a good move staking that apple tree. I've learned over the years "If in doubt, just stake it", especially if it's a young plant. Because honestly you might think it's okay, and then suddenly a storm comes up and snaps your plant. I've had to do plant surgery to save rose bushes with masking tape after a freak storm snapped one, and then a few days later another storm snapped another. All I can is that I'm thankful for TH-cam garden gurus because those plants would have died if not for their videos.
I hope you're feeling better, and are well rested after your holiday💙.

Your garden held up well! It sounds like your area and my area on the east coast of the US are going through the same lack of rain. When I look at my weather app it'll forecast scattered showers and then nothing happens. My front lawn is burnt to a crisp right now. My backyard isn't too bad, as I have a big shady maple tree there. So far, the perennial gardens are holding steady. Looking forward to your next video!

With the apple tree leaning against the wall, it could also be showing some scorch/burn bc it’s taking on the heat of the wall when the wall gets hot. Most plants planted close to a wall or a house will also absorb residual heat, but it’s much worse when the plant is touching the wall or house esp for young, tender plants. I had a tomato plant in a container, and it had one branch that grew where it was leaning on the brick side of our house and was showing some scorching. I tied that branch to a stake to keep it from leaning against the brick wall, and saw an immediate difference in the plant as a whole within two days. It hadn’t set fruit while it was leaning against the brick, but after I staked it away from the brick, it put on a ton of new growth, flowers, and then fruit. Hope this helps u know that ur doing the right thing by staking the apple tree! 😊❤️

Eucalyptus leaves are great for the garden to keep bad bugs away. The good one know to avoid it. Loving the teal dress on you. Your so lucky to have the tall block walls in the perimeter of you back yard. Were only aloud 6 foot heights in the back yard. Yours looks more like 9! 👍Have you enjoyed any of the tea you brought back with you Catherine? Lucky you! 🫖
