I ordered an HB DC580 (money was a bit tight), it took longer than my GAS would've liked. It really took only about 3 weeks, and surprised the heck out of me! Great condition straight out of the box, even fit my Fender style case! I've had 5 strokes, can't drive anymore, and my fingers fight with my brain over which strings to play. Hey, I've been playing for 56 years, so I won't that stand in my way too much. Do love this one, as it's my first SG guitar, since my '61 Les Paul Jr.
From Leo: Great chops on the intro. That lemon color really pops. It is good that the controls work the correct way. Someone should send one to gibson so they can copy it.
I've been watching guitar players on TH-cam for years, you're the first leftie I've ever seen. Finally, a fellow southpaw. It's nice to know I'm not alone out there.
Awesome! I have this in my Thomann cart along with the ST-20, TE-20, SC450 P90, and HB guitar cases for each. All that for less than $700 shipped to the US! That's almost 3x cheaper than ONE Gibson LP Tradional or Standard. Just gotta get the nerve to pull the trigger!
You have to drop the pickup heights and then raise up the high e, a, and d pole pieces. It really brightens up and improves the tone. It's got a comfortable chunky neck and is a solid guitar for the price. If $200 is your budget and you want a LP style it's really hard to beat this model.
I bought one of these last year and it turned up in similar condition. Thomann were very good about and gave me the choice of keeping it with the cost of freight refunded ($80) or returning it at their expense. I choose to keep it because I wanted it as a back-up gigging guitar and figured it would get knocked around anyway. I am really glad I kept it and enjoy playing it. I like LPs but normally struggle play above about the 17th fret but the contoured heel on these (and other HB LPs) make upper fret access much easier. I would love to see a comparison between this and the Artist LPs as both seem to be good budget LPs.
I bought it a few months ago, I'm a beginner at 51 years old, and I don't know why I didn't like the sound so much, so I've put Gibson 57 pickups on the neck, and Seymour Duncan SH 59 on the bridge, as well as some vintage potentiometers, and the guitar sounds much, much better :)
Just got a lefty DC-Junior in the mail last week, also own American strat, Indo PRS & Mexican Cobain Jag...After a quick string replacement, fret polish and fretboard massage I have been VERY impressed with what I got for $220. I'm looking forward to filling some voids in my arsenal for guitars I may not play very often with HB models. Good stuff!
I bought the SC550 Deluxe Les Paul Replica and it arrived and is flawless, I could not find any imperfections anywhere, plays extremely well. Like you I don't like the tone controls and will probably swap them for USA made potentiometers, although I too adjust the amp not the guitars. Thomann were very easy to work with and this was one of 3 guitars I bought form them, all arrived perfect.
It's an instant relic! All banged up from its adventure to Australia, this HB shows it is rough and ready. Great video, Shane. A couple dings don't spoil a whole guitar.
I live in Cape Town so ..... same distance I guess !! I had a ding in the back as well......... I have asked them to perhaps enclose them in styrofoam as that would at least protect them a bit better. Otherwise a really great guitar.
I own several HB’s like them all and think they are a tremendous value and sound great. That being said there is usually always something to address or fix. I just ordered the HB 35 pulse - awesome! Just a set up is all it needed.
Shane, yer killing me mate! This will probably end up being the fourth guitar you've convinced me to buy! First was a PRS SE, then the HB CST 24. I also bought an HB-35 Plus. Not based on a specific review, but because HB! Now this! Lefties! Cheers.
I got a pristine one second hand for £100 and as a former Gibson/Tokai Japan guy I am just blown away. I was going to mod it but, to be totally honest, I play the guitar so much and love it so much that I wouldn't want to alter anything. The pickups are just brilliant and I have put them up to loud volumes through my 50 watt valve amp. No microphonic whatsoever so they have been wax dipped. As Shane says, tuning stability is better than a lot of Gibsons, high fret access is amazing. The poly finish is where it gets the 'premium' feel he is talking about. Some budget guitars have really gross feeling Poly but this just feels amazing. Totally ready to gig. Nothing comes close at this price range or even up to £400 in my opinion.
I recently got a HB35 semi hollow body 4 weeks ago. It sounded muddy as hell, the selector switch did nothing and the pots all acted as yours did. Last weekend I swapped all of that out and now it sounds fantastic. As far as the condition of the guitar, mine was actually in great shape, no flaws anywhere. The one you got has obviously been abused and dropped. I don't think the pups sound that bad as some others have stated here, but thats nothing a different amp setting or pup swap cant easily fix. I would definitely get one of these!
come on Shane ,no flaws ,just "honest"relic from its travel from Germany to down under. ( you sent the vibe into the universe you like reliced guitars ;-) ( have 3 HB's myself , all without problems (i purposely only buy B-stock models to be sure its been set up by QC) )
my sc 450 plus lemon drop vintage (whew) just came today and I live in the usa, it was double boxed, I must have got lucky because mine is perfect too. maybe they sent him a B-stock for free to review, I payed for mine
Ive ordered five Harley Bentons from Thomann and all arrived perfectly, although mine are only crossing the English Channel and not halfway around the world
I 'd prefer one Gibson LP Studio over 5 Harley Bentons. You can only play one guitar at the time. And the difference in sound and build quality is huge.
i bet they sent him a free B-stock to review. mine got here today and its perfect. glossy nice goodness no chips nothing, and it came in the normal box with padding and an even bigger box with padding. for what I got I feel like I ripped the company off only paying like $200 with shipping. feels and looks like a $2000 guitar, im very happy, id buy from them again. lol maybe not take something free lol
And throw in the price point? What’s not to love! I went the low end way, as I don’t have companies giving me guitars........ oh where was I? I got a TE-20 and tuned it and played it. Not a scratch on it. I was very pleased with it and made it my practice on guitar. Have done a couple of cheap upgrades... and I’ll be keeping it. It’s fun.
The first thing I did after the purchase, turned the bridge over. All HBs with this bridge are improperly assembled. The bridge has a nashville style, but assembled as abr-1. The bridge bolts should be on the tail piece side, otherwise the bolts are extruded by strings, and the tuning is not stable. Take your time to change the tuners, just flip the bridge. I also recommend replacing the 047 uF capacitors with 022 uF (if possible, change pickups too), it will sounds less muddy. This a great guitar for the price.
I have right hand version and it's great lp model for cheap price. I didn't have any problems which is also a miracle. Another miracle is that, it keeps tuning! I change pickups to dimarzio 36th paf set.
I got an Honey Burst one of those back in 2017. Just as HB changed over from Wilkinson pickups to Roswell. She's nice and defo a keeper. With all my humbucker fitted guitars I like to drop the pickup body a bit then raise the pole pieces. I get little more brightness/high mid focus with just a small drop in output. Gives more life to cleans and/or cleaner tones. There's still plenty of welly for driven sounds. This idea works for p90s as well I've found. Even for F-type single coils I've come to prefer them lower than factory height.
I have the gold top with P90s and an HB35. Both arrived in excellent shape; the 35 was in tune, although a halftone flat. They both play quite well. The HB35 has split coil pickups, but splitting seems to cut down on the volume, whereas the SC 550 split made it louder and snarlier.
I love HB! All my guitars from them were packaged great, shipped fast and have no issues. Great playability all around. Absolutely hold their own in the market, even with so e higher priced "Good" brands. Especially love the HB Amerrock Red satin curly maple, 6 Str. I got for my wife, my 62 vintage series strat in lake placid blue (upgraded it a bit with Sperzel Locking tuners in satin silver and monotone Vit T harness and Toneridee 3's blues series pick ups .... Love the bluesy/Hendrixy sound it has now , and my brand new one: HB sC 450 plus VB Vintage Series in Flame Maple Tabaco. Sunburst. I can only highly recommend them! Great review!!!
Thank you for being upfront about the delivery issues with this guitar Shane & your personal opinion of the guitar's playability. I'm guessing there's some reviewers who simply would not have put the unboxing video up on YT, contacted Thomann and sent it back, with no one the wiser. The tone pot is probably due to it being a cheap component and/or a Linear taper. Best bet is to get a Logarithmic tapered (audio) pot of decent quality. AllParts, Sweetwater can help you there....
Question for you... I ordered a T-52 and bass 12 days ago but haven't heard anything back from them. Did it take long to get yours? I live in Minneapolis. Thanks!!
Just ordered this one...lets see how is the condition of it...Got it....looks fine except the lining of tuners is the same. No any hard hand given...surface ok. Pup switch feels pretty soft...wonder how it can last time. Bridge is pretty high - high e string almost touches the bar. Otherwise just fine.
I ordered the same one for my birthday gift to myself last may 29th. mine just arrived today, took a couple of weeks. but man, mine is pretty much perfect. binding all feels smooth, it looks great and it sounds beefy through my boss katana mk2. the action straight out of the box was low, and I like that. mines not chipped or scratched. mine was shipped in the normal box with an even bigger box all padded up good. maybe since yours was free it was a B-stock, I actually payed for mine. sounds great I like the rosewell pickups. the guitar weighs a bit too, it doesn't feel cheap . I cant believe the price for what I got.
Pretty guitar, not bad sounding! I saw a comment on a guitar review recently, it may have been about you, and the person commenting basically said that the reviewer could make a broom handle sound good. I will say that statement definitely applies to you for sure!
I'm back again, coz as the saying goes, things are better the second time around! Everyone's raving about the sc custom and the sc550 but this just might be the one to beat!
I've ordered the SC450 Plus LD reviewed here. Updated: I received the SC450 Plus LD Vintage several months back and I like it. I had to reverse the bridge saddles on most of the strings to get the intonation to come in, but it feels and plays fine. I had to dress the fret ends and polish, the usual setup stuff. I'm not sure the correct pots were installed as the volume seems to come in all at once at the end of the turn towards max volume. Like you said with the tone adjustment, I'm pretty much the same, just turn all the knobs up full and adjust the amp.
I have received 2 of my 4 Harley Benton guitars in unacceptable quality, BUT the issues were a crack in the headstock of my R-456 (all black Floyd Rose Special 24 fret, $144 USD guitar), and a dead preamp on my DE-120CT NA (single cut acoustic/electric that was like 65 bucks pre-shipping), both were free after reporting to Thomann, I bought a new, exact replacement preamp off eBay for 11 bucks shipped, and just dremmel'd the minor headstcok crack on the R-456, the other 2 guitars I got had no issues. Moral of the story, if you're looking to mod/upgrade anyway, they're fantastic, and even better when free.
I have one, the neck needed a bit of adjustment as well as the intonation, it turned out really well with very versatile sounds.Cranked up sounds wicked.
10:12 Tone pots have a logarithmic taper instead of linear, HB have probably used right handed log pots and wired them backwards instead of using reverse log pots, so most of the tone roll off will occur at the very end of the knob turn instead of the start. You would replace the tone pots with reverse log pots to get a better tone roll off while keeping the same "turn direction".
I got one in Vintage Brown colour and there were issues with it, tuner collets not seated, nut held on by strings only, small scratch on the Benton script and gritty frets but I fixed them all and now I've done over 100 gigs with it in my UB40 tribute band. Everyone who's played it is impressed by its feel.
Hello Shane, your video helped me a lot in my decision to buy the Harley Benton (SC-450 Plus HB)! Thank you very much for sharing your video! You did a great job! With lovely greetings from Germany Matthias
Have had mixed results but I got all of them fixed pretty fast by their excellent customer service. One ST model arrived really damaged and had missing pieces but the other ones have been in really good shape and even tuned out of the box.
I never got that, what is that, a consumer hoarding/collection thingy for cheapskates? Wanna collect guitars like Slash or Bonamassa but on a budget? I prefer one high-end guitar above 10 cheap ones. Well as long as you're happy with them I guess that's all that counts. I would like the explanation though, I really don't get it. You can only play one guitar at a time.
First of all I find guitars not just an instrument but a beautiful piece of art. Second I like having the ability to pick up and play all variations of guitars. I can't afford this many high end guitars plus these guitars sound fantastic. I do have a few higher end guitars and I pick up and play all of them. Lastly there are all types of things one can collect this is mine and it make me happy and as long as i'm happy my wife and kids are happy life is good.
Yeah if someone was telling me they wanted to learn how i would recommend Harley Benton it's a fantastic value for the price and pretty decent quality. I mean does not matter where else you spend that kinda money it will be half as playable
i bought an ST62 strat 3 years ago and it had been opened in customs (you knew by outer packaging) and they must have face planted it bending a tuner key and a chip in headstock. I figured oh well its a mod base with road beauty lol. So in my tear down it suffered yet another hard biff and put 2 dings on body face. Then during final assembly after all upgrades yet another biff from my dog bumping it over fetching a toy he threw for himself lol! All in all thats still the best dang strat ive ever had! Just roll with it and giggle if it gets a new beauty mark!!!
I bought a Harley Benton DC-60 in faded cherry SG I had no cosmetic issues, it arrived in a double box. I was very surprised at the quality and the playability for a very low priced unit. Im now thinking of getting the Les Paul 450 plus.
The issue with the tone pots is simple. They are using audio (log) taper pots that they are then wiring backwards. It is why Gibson do it the other way so the taper works correctly. The HB lp junior I got had a linear taper pot for volume and an audio taper pot for tone. I have swapped them both for reverse log taper pots.
If the frets are level that's a big plus over my 2019 Epiphone which I had to fret level! Nut was also too high. My Harley Benton Te 70 Black Paisley arrived ok a couple of weeks ago, sounds great, frets perfectly level and plays well. It was 1/4 the price of the Epiphone. Tremendous value for the money.
I got the same Sc 450 plus, mine is great with out any blemmish, but it didnt have to travel alot ( my country is next to Germany),. anyway it is one great guitar , out of the box great ,only needed a bit of tuning and a little bit lower the action. I love the feel of the guitar and love how the neck feels the sound is great too although the coil split dont mean very much, in my opinion, beside that you cant go wrong with this Harley Benton . PS. Great review as always.
I used to have a Gibson Les Paul Studio and the pickups were muddy. These had more clarity. I'm pretty picky and own mostly high end boutique gear, but that guitar is pretty sweet especially at the price point. Mahogany body check, Maple cap check, sweet finish check, clarity in PAF style pups check. I mean you could give it a great set up, possibly upgrade some electronics and you have good quality guitar. I can see why Gibson is suing. Note to Gibson, price it right...everyone else can, you'd more than make back the dent in your ego.
That seems very, very unlikely, I've Got an Gibson SG and LP from 2010 and 2011 and I've owned 2 LP studio's. I've ordered 2 Harley Bentons last year and 3 recent Epiphones with the new headstocks. None could compare to even the stock Burstbuckers, not even close. The Epiphones also had some high frets and finish problems with the binding. In the end I did return all Epiphones and HB's. I might have kept a HB and put in my Slash Seymour Duncan humbuckers as a backup but I don't leave the house anymore with my guitars. Gibson did make some bad guitars but still, I suspect you are a cheapskate, never owned a Gibson, but do own a knockoff and just want to rip on Gibson. Yeah, thats right, I'm calling you a liar.
I got this very model on Christmas eve. It is gorgeous, playable and sounds good. I find it very tactile, a nice weight and I enjoy holding it. The tuners on mine are in line and its stays in tune great. The tone pots were AWFUL though (I do actually use them), they are difficult to move in comparison to volume controls and they make no different from 10 to 2. The fretwork was excellent and although I found the trapezoid inlays flawless in placement, the inlays themselves seem a little plasticky and dead to me. The bridge and stop bar etc. all feel great (not made from melted down pepsi cans as John Robson would say). I plan to do my own video on it as although I'd recommend it, it has a few curious peculiarities about it. Great video Shane, thanks for posting it.
I've been kinda on the fence about Harley Benton guitars. I wish I had a place locally , that had them. The fusion 2 is what I'd probably go for / try.
I ordered one after much hesitation and wasn't too impressed with it when it arrived. The build quality was subpar and I didn't like the way the neck felt.
@@Nomadicsage1 I think if I ever get one to try. It will be a used one off reverb or something. Some people really seem to like them. And say they are a good bang for the buck. And some don't think they are. I think it seems like a hit & miss with any model from HB. Some good & some not so much. Guess it depends who's working that day , lol.
Thanks Shane, very kind of you.Btw I usually have different eq settings split coil modes, the humbucker settings are too shrill when coils get tapped.Continue happily ever-after!
I just got a SC550 in, was a bstock, bunch of marks and scrapes on bass side of neck binding. Outside of that, pp lays great sounds nice, set up very well, and I like the pickups better than the 490s in my Gibson....so far I'm very happy, down the road if the binding becomes problematic My opinion would change, but I have a beautiful guitar that plays nice
For almost every guitar I brought, I had to rewire the tone pots righty to be able to use the full range of the tone controls. Most of these guitar manufacturers use the wrong pots (audio tapered) for tone. They are supposed to use reverse audio tapered pots in left handed guitars, but these pots are expensive and quite hard to find. Overall, I agree that HB guitars need a lot of work to make it playable and stage-worthy. I bought a Fusion Pro out of curiosity and actually like it.
my sc 450 plus vintage lemon drop came today, like the one he's playing. its pretty much perfect. it was double boxed. my action is low like I like it and I cant find any flaws. the rosewell pickups sound great too through my boss katana. the maple top looks great and my fretboard looks nice, a lot of darker streaks through mine and the inlays look really well done. the binding on the whole guitar is smooth, I cant feel any edges at all , paying $200 with shipping, I feel like I ripped Harley Benton off lol id buy from them again. I bet they gave him a B-stock for free. actually paying, I bet you don't need to do much work, I just so happen to like the way its set up. maybe other style players like a different feel. but the fit and finish on mine I cant ask for better honestly.
10:08 this is typical for left handed guitars, more or less regardless of brand. It's the same thing with all of my left handed guitars, Fender player start included. The reason for this is because guitar manufacturers are putting right handed pots in left handed guitars. This is often the case even with more expensive guitars, like a lot of lefty american strats.
Sounds like a cheap guitar to me. The pickups are definitely missing some articulation and sound somewhat muddy. But that's nothing that can't be changed - if the overall build quality is decent and the playability is good, this seems like a good deal for its price.
Mine was perfect and perfectly set up almost. I got the black sc 1000 with active pick ups. It was a b stock. Looks like thats what you ordered. Mine had a slight mark indent at the top of the headstock. Fantastic guitar. Pickups are just as good as my schecter c1 hellraiser.
Great review man! Sounds really good. Heh heh, couldn’t help but think of Billy Gibbons solo in Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers when you snuck that little bend/tap in there! 😎Probably just a natural reaction when you have a sound like that going! Even though it musta been delivered by Ace Ventura, it’s good to see it’s still playable! 🤙🏻🎼
YES number 40! Gr8 looking geetar (qc issues aside)! Looks and sounds vgood! Too bad the cosmetic damage and it seems crooked tuner install happening too often! Made a deal for my buddy on a nice used Hamer Slammer from Indonesia, cosmetics were👍, good deal overall! Thanks Shane for the demo!
FYI, I Just got one of these with the Roswell LAF Alnico-5 pickups. I was after Clapton Cream/Bluesbreaker tones, so I thought the Bridge pickup was too bright, (neck is bright as well, but I think that's good) so I swapped in Alnico-4 magnet in bridge and it really got rid of excess treble in a way that dialing Vol & Tone controls (and even Amp eq) couldn't. Got the tone I was looking for. My two cents.
I have the earlier model with the original Les Paul contour. The only thing I've changed are the pups because they were a bit too hot for my taste. A very satisfying Donlis set on it now. Funny that the less Les Paul look is the earlier designed LP look...... more like the Bigsby.
I have heard so many different opinions on HBenton guitars. I always think that if you are in that price range, you are FAR better off buying secondhand. Make sure you check that the frets have life left in them, no fret buzz, properly intonated, stayed in tune etc. Most guitarists who sell 2nd hand usually look after them, unless sat in a loft, or someone bought and gave up right away. Buy 2nd hand!!! Bargains to be had.
Almost bought one of these, ended up with a Cort CR200GT instead.... One thing I have noticed with the more affordable guitars is that the pickups are not quite up to it! They often sound muffled, almost dead... Pretty much like the tone is rolled off a little. Even the new Epiphones, compared to a Gibson, sound dull. Not all though... The SG reviews I have seen the pickups are pretty close but still duller than the Gibsons.
I have an Aeolus, a $89 strat style ST20 and an Adamas style. acoustic. All 3 are great !! They arrived at my house in Texas in perfect conditi9n. Sorry yours was damaged.
I ordered this exact model, nice looking guitar, only thing is the lacour they surround the guitar in, cracked around the neck from the nut all the way to the tuners, i have sent it back, awaiting a new replacement, this is my 3rd Harley benton guitar so i am not put off.
Great video. I had a few bentons and all were really well built guitars and easy to set up get the action super low. The pups are too bright, but they are worth dropping pups of choice.
🤭 I own this guitar in a burst really like it I took the pick gard off looks a little better without my guitar arrived with no quality issues 😁 and I'm a lefty too so very happy with Harley Benton I now own the E1000 and I'm very impressed with it
Fix it by not buying such a cheaply made guitar in the first place. In my experience, you always get what you pay for and you don't have to spend much more to get a decent instrument. The manufacturers always cut corners just a little too far with budget guitars, and it shows.
@@nonrevnosnibormetalbeerrev6251 I've plenty of experience of trying (and occasionally, foolishly buying) budget guitars. It soon becomes apparent that it's a false economy. None of the Harley Benton guitars I've played have made me change my opinion. Compared side by side against Epiphone or Squier models costing not much more, it's easy to see where corners have been cut, and I won't waste any more money on guitars at the bottom end of the price scale.
@@ParaBellum2024 I just feel sorry that your guitar snobbery overrules a true insight into these guitars as there are thousands of positive comments on them but hey each to their own I guess and if you can afford mega buck guitars then good for you, peace out.
@@ParaBellum2024 indeed. I bought a HB SC450 P90 GT and the build quality was an absolute mess. I did hours of work (replaced tuners and nut, polished the fretboard and frets, adjusted the PUs by adding springs) and it is finally starting to approach playable in my opinion. There's no excuse for Thomann to ship such rubbish to customers and then "fixing it" with a replacement or by giving the customer a discount credit. It did however satisfy my curiosity about cheap guitars from HB, but won't be doing that anymore. Pay a few extra dollars and get a better guitar of higher quality.
I bought a Harley Benton SC-450Plus from Thomann just tonight. I have to wait 5 days or so for it to arrive. It will be my first electric guitar so I hope it arrives in good state and I will play some tunes very quickly. I’m now on my kids fazley guitar practicing “smoke on the water” and “seven nation army”. 😅 Will let you know in what state mine arrived. I’m in Europe so possibly that makes a difference because of the guitar not traveling that far?
I ordered an HB DC580 (money was a bit tight), it took longer than my GAS would've liked. It really took only about 3 weeks, and surprised the heck out of me! Great condition straight out of the box, even fit my Fender style case! I've had 5 strokes, can't drive anymore, and my fingers fight with my brain over which strings to play. Hey, I've been playing for 56 years, so I won't that stand in my way too much. Do love this one, as it's my first SG guitar, since my '61 Les Paul Jr.
Stay strong and keep fighting those fingers
🙏
Are you rigth now???
From Leo: Great chops on the intro. That lemon color really pops. It is good that the controls work the correct way. Someone should send one to gibson so they can copy it.
I've been watching guitar players on TH-cam for years, you're the first leftie I've ever seen. Finally, a fellow southpaw. It's nice to know I'm not alone out there.
same here
SundayMatinee I’m in the exact same situation!!
Spread the joy. The new guitar feeling wears out quick so you could buy one of them every six months.
The SC 450 CB is simply brilliant. I'm impressed with the gear I got from Thomann.
Looks like they sent him a b-stock guitar to review?
Did you finally pull the trigger :)
@@mickaellasne365 did you

Thanks a lot mate 😊👍
I bought it a few months ago, I'm a beginner at 51 years old, and I don't know why I didn't like the sound so much, so I've put Gibson 57 pickups on the neck, and Seymour Duncan SH 59 on the bridge, as well as some vintage potentiometers, and the guitar sounds much, much better :)
As a lefty, HB genuinely excite me with the sheer range available, not tomention the ridiculously low prices for these gats.
Good stuff!
Same! Wish they would offer more fusion versions / more high end stuff of HB for us lefty’s. Sparkle ✨ finish or something…
I bought the SC550 Deluxe Les Paul Replica and it arrived and is flawless, I could not find any imperfections anywhere, plays extremely well. Like you I don't like the tone controls and will probably swap them for USA made potentiometers, although I too adjust the amp not the guitars.

Some budget guitars have really gross feeling Poly but this just feels amazing. Totally ready to gig. Nothing comes close at this price range or even up to £400 in my opinion.
I got a SC450 a week ago, I love it, sounds so good !!
How thick is the neck please? Cheers
I once bought a b-stock. Couldn't intonate it, so it was clear they hadn't checked it before putting it on sale again.
bassax7045 Yeah the SC550 I got was a B stock and set up very well.
My CST24T was a B-stock. The phillips head of one of the trem screws was a bit stripped. Other than that-excellent guitar. I've been lucky so far.
I own also this guitar and i love it. It arrived in January in sublime condition. But much shorter journey.
my sc 450 plus lemon drop vintage (whew) just came today and I live in the usa, it was double boxed, I must have got lucky because mine is perfect too. maybe they sent him a B-stock for free to review, I payed for mine
I have always received my Harley Benton guitars in perfect condition, and I have an SC-1000 in transit.
how is the sc-1000?
Ive ordered five Harley Bentons from Thomann and all arrived perfectly, although mine are only crossing the English Channel and not halfway around the world
I 'd prefer one Gibson LP Studio over 5 Harley Bentons. You can only play one guitar at the time. And the difference in sound and build quality is huge.
I've only had one sent across the channel and there were some minor issues but glad to hear it's not the norm.
Great video. Amazed at what is available these days. Just curious, do u still use the Bandit? Bet it would sound fab with those pickups.
This proves that Thomann doesn't pick out the best guitars to send to reviewers.
i bet they sent him a free B-stock to review. mine got here today and its perfect. glossy nice goodness no chips nothing, and it came in the normal box with padding and an even bigger box with padding. for what I got I feel like I ripped the company off only paying like $200 with shipping. feels and looks like a $2000 guitar, im very happy, id buy from them again. lol maybe not take something free lol
I received mine yesterday and the headstock was cracked 😢😢😢
@@emiliojose6870 That might have happened in shipping. I doubt that Thomann would send out a guitar with a cracked headstock
They both play
quite well.
I ordered a Harley Benton Fusion II from Thomann and it arrived in good condition. I live in Florida, USA and had no problems.
Question for you... I ordered a T-52 and bass 12 days ago but haven't heard anything back from them. Did it take long to get yours? I live in Minneapolis. Thanks!!
The two I ordered were flawless upon arrival
This review came out a week after I bought the exact same guitar. I have no complaints and it's an overall great guitar for the money
I got 3 in different finishes, perfekt build Quality and great sounding 🤘🏻
Hello Shane,
your video helped me a lot in my decision to buy the Harley Benton (SC-450 Plus HB)!
Thank you very much for sharing your video!
You did a great job!
With lovely greetings from Germany
Matthias
Have had mixed results but I got all of them fixed pretty fast by their excellent customer service. One ST model arrived really damaged and had missing pieces but the other ones have been in really good shape and even tuned out of the box.
Thanks for sharing
Harley Benton always looked great spec /value for money to me. Found your review really helpful
This is one of my 8 Harley Bentons I own. Fantastic Guitar at the price point there offered at!
My Double cut lefty Junior arrived no issues, really getting into it.
I got an HB SC-550 Paradise from Thomann, and it arrived flawless. The only problem is the weight!
i bought an ST62 strat 3 years ago and it had been opened in customs (you knew by outer packaging) and they must have face planted it bending a tuner key and a chip in headstock.
You made me buy one. With your signature lick in 5.50. Just ordered now :)
Thanks for reviewing ❤
If the frets are level that's a big plus over my 2019 Epiphone which I had to fret level! Nut was also too high. My Harley Benton Te 70 Black Paisley arrived ok a couple of weeks ago, sounds great, frets perfectly level and plays well. It was 1/4 the price of the Epiphone. Tremendous value for the money.
Love that TE-70 Black Paisley. I switched the PUPs and a couple roller trees in mine and it is one of my favorite guitars. Nice get!
Was my first hb and love it
I got the same Sc 450 plus, mine is great with out any blemmish, but it didnt have to travel alot ( my country is next to Germany),. anyway it is one great guitar , out of the box great ,only needed a bit of tuning and a little bit lower the action.
The sc450 with p90s gt is a sweet guitar.had one for a couple of year still amazed at how good for little cash.a long way from the 80s cheap guitars.
@@Nomadicsage1
I think if I ever get one to try.
I have ordered one for a Christmas present and the box has a hole in it and was ripped into but the guitar wasn’t effected at all great playing bro ✌️
I have 3 Harley B's and the last outside box was almost open on one end and tore on the other. However all the guitars we're in great condition.
Seems like an impossible equation. Great look, great sound, plays great, stable tuning despite damage. All for POS cheap guitar $$.
I was wating for this video for such a long time. Thanks Bro! Great Review!
Thanks for this review. Based on this and about a dozen others I ordered mine today! Thanks again!🤘😎🤘
Nice demo mate ! I have to admit it was better than I expected ! If I was in the market for an inexpensive LP I would have to consider it . 😎🎸
Sounds like a cheap guitar to me.
The pickups are definitely missing some articulation and sound somewhat muddy. But that's nothing that can't be changed - if the overall build quality is decent and the playability is good, this seems like a good deal for its price.
Thanks for your review. I ended up getting this guitar.
I really like your signature lick😎The guitar sounds awesome for the money. Love the skipping, dirty clean tones🎸🎶💯✌🏽❤️
Nice job on this as usual shane & it sounded great !!
Thank you sir. Great video. I haven't ordered one yet, but planning to.
Impressed that there's no volume change when switching from humbucker to single-coil.
Bought a b stock Unreal seriously plays better than my Gibson unbelievably good
Almost bought one of these, ended up with a Cort CR200GT instead....
The picture on their website shows the uneven tuner alignment. Unless its the same guitar in the picture, looks like it's in their design
I have an Aeolus, a $89 strat style ST20 and an Adamas style. acoustic. All 3 are great !! They arrived at my house in Texas in perfect conditi9n. Sorry yours was damaged.
whats the main difference between the 450 and 450 plus?
Push/pull pots I think.
I ordered this exact model, nice looking guitar, only thing is the lacour they surround the guitar in, cracked around the neck from the nut all the way to the tuners, i have sent it back, awaiting a new replacement, this is my 3rd Harley benton guitar so i am not put off.
Waiting for mine to get here, hopefully it will be in good condition,if not they shall hear from me,but Harley Benton guitars are great value guitars
Great video. I had a few bentons and all were really well built guitars and easy to set up get the action super low. The pups are too bright, but they are worth dropping pups of choice.
Sounds good to my ears, be great for gigging...
🤭 I own this guitar in a burst really like it I took the pick gard off looks a little better without my guitar arrived with no quality issues 😁 and I'm a lefty too so very happy with Harley Benton I now own the E1000 and I'm very impressed with it
Your playing is awesome, you'd make anything sound good mate!
02:11 HB cares for the lefty
As owner of Marshall DSL, Id say this guitar sounds AMAZING, wohoooo
It's the best amp I have ever owned! :)
thomann would have taken tha guitar back no doubt. Im a customer there for many years now. never had a issue.
Unless it is my ears, the pickups sound terrible, but I guess that is an easy fix, God bless HB👍
Fix it by not buying such a cheaply made guitar in the first place. In my experience, you always get what you pay for and you don't have to spend much more to get a decent instrument. The manufacturers always cut corners just a little too far with budget guitars, and it shows.
@@ParaBellum2024 mate these guitars are great guitars despite their price, you really should try one and you will change your attitude,
@@nonrevnosnibormetalbeerrev6251 I've plenty of experience of trying (and occasionally, foolishly buying) budget guitars.
Hey Shane, cool review like always, would you recommend this one or the SC-550 like the you and the Doc reviewed? Thank you.
