Or they could do a payment plan, or if they re-release they do a paired down version without the tiers? There still needs to be an incentive for people to back it, or else they won't.
If you know that you can still get it on a later date, then most people's mentality will shift to "Why do I need to back it now when I can get it on a later date" then will then shift to, "if I can get it on retail on a later date, I'll just wait for clearance". You can always have all reasons, but if your reason will be implemented, would you think haslab giant man will be backed?
I think If say they made a "Haslab edition" that obviously got shipped first to backers and came with all the extras it could work. And the regular one had less at only a slightly less PP. say 20 bucks.
Hey, I'm 50. I grew up at a time and place when collecting involved bottle caps with superhero illustrations underneath. So I get your point. But times, they are a-changing and as much as I find it ridiculous that a multi-million company has to put stuff as a crowd-fund; it's the way it is. I would also rather that it was just at some store I could go up to and buy it there and then. But I sure won't do that and pay 30% higher or more. But any person that may feel better that way, it's their choice. It's their money, their hobby and happiness. Do what you feel is best for you.
I backed Giant Man, then the next day cancelled. Something just didn’t feel right about this Haslab and I got 2 Sentinels, Galactus and backed the Joe Dragonfly. Each of those felt like I got or am getting my money’s worth. Multiple heads and/or face plates (in the case of Sentinel and Galactus) extra figures, lighted special features on Sentinel, Galactus and Dragonfly. Giant Man was ultra bare minimum with no extra figures and only one extra head sculpt. It’s like the Hasbro Marvel team cheapened the price which kind of resulted in this being a meh Haslab even though it funded. 🤔
@@Toygainstotally agree. The whole lack of accessories and extra figs does nothing but endorse FOMO buying and let’s the Hasbro Marvel team know they can get our money using half measure offerings.
There's people still waiting on two other past HasLabs besides this new one and it's a long time to wait. Something like this Giant Man totally could have been at retail. HasLabs are meant for something a lot bigger. MOTU and the Jurassic Park line can do it so I don't believe their excuses. I'm not going to let them control how I spend my money especially on something like that Giant Man.
How about keep it how it is, if you don’t want to buy it for $200 now, that’s fine, but if I do, so I don’t have to pay a massive premium from a dealer next year, that’s on me. How about - and I don’t mean to sound cruel - how about seeing it as the benefit of delayed gratification over giving in to impulse all the time?
Under normal circumstances I'd be fine with that. But Hasbro can afford the risk. That's why they are doing this. They got burned a few times with high end items at retail. I just can't wrap my head around why they can't take a preorder fee at a percentage of the cost and then charge the rest upon release.
Probably because the amount they think they would generate wouldn't cover the production and marketing costs so their board won't approve the risk. And this model has proved successful more often than not. And when it didn't, that's a sign the appeal isn't strong enough, so they dodged a bullet. If you know one of these is coming out, just spend less of your monthly budget on things that will actually be cheaper on the secondary market this time next year - which probably covers 90% of other Marvel Legends figures at least.
I only wanna get the Galactus one and maybe Sentinal but truthfully don't have the gotdamn space but they look so good and brings me back to my Toybiz days when they was much much cheaper and smaller lol
as far as principles go -- i'd sooner do business with greedy corporate suits at hasbro than some lowlife scalper parasite on ebay. you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas.
That's fair. I'd never pay double the price for anything. I got Galactus for 150 more than retail. Which I thought was pretty ok. If I'm at a toy show and I see Giant Man for 300 I may bite. Again, sound silly. But I don't like being pressured into buying things.
Hasbro still needs retailers to agree to buy their toys and put them on shelves. A huge figure like this would take up valuable shelf space, which is far less enticing for retailers than a 6 inch figure is. Crowdfunding cuts out that middleman, and guarantees that Hasbro meets the minimum required production number.
You had over a month to decide brother. Plus you said you hoped it failed in your other video. You can't be mad you missed out, I don't think anybody who backed it is excited for the year wait but this is a character I wanted so I put up the money. Your budget was 300 for the month Giant Man was 200 that leaves 100 to spend as you see fit, if you wanted him? Love your channel, hope I haven't offended you😅
Oh not at all man. I should have saved. But I don't think I said I hope it failed. I made a vid saying the price was fair. I did however upload a pic when I saw a 150 dollar shield at target and just wondered why this couldn't be. Again I'm here for discussion, whether I'm right or wrong.
I backed him, I feel like they justify Haslabs to gauge what the audience wants but I feel like you could do the same thing by just posting a poll and not stringing people along through crowdfunds. Hasbro is a multi-billion dollar company they really don't need to do these things but their business is about saving money not spending it.
I got the Giant Man at the last day, I was hoping they would add a couple of figures or a Hank Pym with a laboratory or something like that. You did right by hesitating. I saw the Giant Man at NEW York comicon and he look Kool but not spectacular! I collect LEGENDS but alot of legends are hyped up and not worth the hype not to mention the high cost of er the years! I've slowed down alot cause I believe Hasbro sometimes pushes crap on their fans! Sometimes out of a wave you get one great sculpt and the rest are rubbery repaints!
Exact same reason I didn’t get it. You shouldn’t be charged for something you won’t be able to see until next year(if that). This is figure collecting, not stocks and bonds.
I had thought about the retail part once the backers get their item, but it seems that these items at retail cost too much as shelf space is expensive and mostly at retail price there a very limited number of folks who buy, almost all wait for sale prices. So it does not work for the company. Also, I have heard that comment about Hasbro does not need a kickstarter, but I disagree as big items are not profitable at retail.
I will back a giant Apocalypse, if they are trying to mock Toy Biz, turned all the BAF into Haslab. But depends of the price and execution. Not a big fan of Giant Man, a more regular figure will be fine for my display. The idea of a new Wasp is interesting, but I need to see the result, because that waist ball joint could be tricky, I don't know, seems to me that Hasbro is falling in a rabbit hole, they gonna need to update all the HOX figures again, pinless Wolverine, pinless Cyke, and reuse that Wasp to update Marvel Girl.
I do agree that the concept of a Haslab not really the best, but unfortunately that’s the game that we are going to play if we want this big characters/ products. They will never put these things on shelves. And to ask them to do that is kinda unreasonable. When all of the black series vehicles came out, a lot of them went on sale and took up a lot of shelf space. Retailers weren’t happy and neither was Hasbro. So why in the world would the do that again. Especially in a world where a lot of people are waiting for things to go on sale before buying. They do this because they can. Wether you agree with it or not it’s what they do. And it’s the new way to do things. Mattel, super7, and McFarlane did/do the same.
I think if u check with some comic shops now you might get one for 250 because I bet a lot of them bought 5 figures maybe they will take deposit for fig and u pay rest when it arrives 🤔
I just want them to give me my skrull head on the 27th/28th and not be petty multibillion dollar bastards. It's 5% from the 2nd final tier. I'll know how much they care about fans when they rub the salt in. You know Hasbro is probably minting 100 or 250 moq just for parts and replacements. Probably 1000 just for replacements. They know how much they need and will make at least X%. And that isn't including the whatever X% they toss in the trash over QC. Could be like 200 or even 1000, don't know.
I dont like the idea of haslab but for a different reason. Them doing haslab GM or the EOV means they will never release a 12-18 inch GM or any vehicle like the EOV. Haslabs should be big projects. Not theses 200 dollar items. And I agree with your own point on re releasing these as pulse exclusive atleast.
I find it hilarious that the garage door and the outside traffic are factors in these videos 😂
It really creates a vibe. What that vibe is I have no idea yet lol.
Wait for the next Haslab Project.
Or they could do a payment plan, or if they re-release they do a paired down version without the tiers? There still needs to be an incentive for people to back it, or else they won't.
Also missed out on the Hiss tank, wasn’t collecting the line then and feel like I’d have to pay double for it now to get it lol
Exactly! It's dumb

Yeah for me galactus and Sentinel were totally worth it even though I got them second hand.
@@Toygainstotally agree. The whole lack of accessories and extra figs does nothing but endorse FOMO buying and let’s the Hasbro Marvel team know they can get our money using half measure offerings.
Are you happy with your decision now that Giant-man is out now?
I feel you on this, pumped for Lobo this Friday good luck!
Thanks! You too man.
They said that if the haslab gets funded they'll use the mold for future releases. but probably not for a Giant Man re-release.
Interesting

That's my thought process. A 500 dollar item sure. 200 that could have been 160 put him on preorder or shelves.

People dumping giant man for 350 now. Did you ever end up getting one?
@@Nyc_figure_fanatic nope. Just overpaid for a damn Hiss Tank. Love it though.
I don’t get it. Why a $9 billion corporation like Hasbro want people to fund a project?
Great question

Its just how Haslab is. Its crowd funding. Go get it at your toy show the program isnt changing
I'd rather give some random person my money than Hasbro is crowdfunding is needed.
