    Great tutorial. I only got lost for a second trying to figure out whey I couldn't see the curve in edit mode around the 2:30 mark.
    Future people reading this, make sure the "edit mode" button on the modifier is selected so you can see the object curved while also seeing the vertices the way it looks in the video.

    Thank you for this great tutorial, it's super helpful! I do have one question though.. Around 09:30 you're selecting vertices and pressing F to close them with faces. With my ring, this doesn't do much. There's only like 10% of a face showing and it doesn't look good. I've tried to follow your steps closely, so I'm not sure where I went wrong. Any advice?

      Hi Christianne, try to select all by pressing A, then go to Mesh, Merge, by Distance. I feel that you might have doubled verts on your mesh.

    when combining the circle to the ring with CTRL+J at around 7:00 in your video, the circle is moved below the ring and turned into a pringle/potato chip shape.

    • @PhialoDesign
      @PhialoDesign  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This might be because you haven't applied the curve modifier, as I did shortly before. If it is still active, the curve modifier will continue to deform all geometry, and also the newly joined circle on the top.

      I am using Shapeways (15% code: UG96S4), but the usual way is to create a casting mold, take or melt the print out depending on the technique, and pour in the molten metal. Afterwards, it needs to be cleaned and polished.

      look up your local casting company (may not be in your town) send them your file and they will send it back to you in silver. Cut the spru off and file down even. Then all you have to do is sand, smooth and polish

    Eine Frage habe ich jedoch, wie ist die Druckeinstellung????? Lg aus Wien

    • @PhialoDesign
      @PhialoDesign  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Eva, danke dir für deinen lieben Kommentar. Die Druckeinstellung ist immer vom Drucker abhängig, den du benutzt. Die sind nicht in Blender einzustellen. Und um die Datei drucken zu können, exportierst du sie als Stl. Wenn du sie selbst drucken willst, brauchst du dann noch einen Slicer, zB Cura oder Slic3r, um eine gcode Datei zu erstellen. LG :)
      The question: which printer settings do I use? Answer: the printer settings are always dependent on the printer you are using. Those are not set in Blender. To print the file, you export it as an Stl. Before the printer can understand this file, you need to create a gcode with a slicer like Cura or Slic3r.

    • @evas7250
      @evas7250 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PhialoDesign Vielen Dank für deine Antwort! Ich denke, für viele eine hilfreiche Antwort. Ich habe mich jedoch falsch ausgedr(u)ückt :-), was ich meinte ist, wie bei einem Ring die Stützstruktur aussieht, denn ich glaube nicht, dass das direkt aufs Bett gedruckt werden kann.
      Lg;-)

    • @PhialoDesign
      @PhialoDesign  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@evas7250 Hi Eva, auch diese generiert der Slicer fuer dich, und die sind immer abhaengig vom jeweiligen Material, Drucker, Druckeinstellungen usw. Vorteilhaft ist natuerlich, wenn die Stuetzstruktur nicht auf den wichtigen Details liegt. Und ich versuche immer so zu drucken, dass ich moeglichst wenig Stuetzmaterial benoetige.
      Question: How does the support structure look for such a ring? Answer: this also depends on printing settings, print material and the printer itself. The supports can be generated in the slicer software, as well. Ideally, the ring is tilted in such a way that important details are not behind support when printing, and I also always try to minimize the amount of supports needed in this way.

      That's true, but in the end the placement on the vertices depends on how you want the ring to be shaped. So it is not a problem, whether you have those extra verts or not. If you want to get rid of any extra vertices without deleting, you can dissolve the edges/vertices.
