  • English post punk band from Sheffield and Doncaster, founded in 1978 and disbanded in 1995. (AKA "Dream Command")... Their music has been described as "abstract pop songs with spare instrumentation, many of which were bleak and filled with some form of heartache." They have been credited as being an influence to later post-punk revival bands such as Blacklist, Bell Hollow, Editors and Interpol. The Comsat Angels toured heavily in the UK and in western Europe, especially in the Netherlands. They also toured the United States twice. Their music has been extensively reissued and recompiled since 1995 by various record labels.
Members: Andy Peake, Kevin Bacon, Mik Glaisher, Simon Anderson, Steve Fellows, Terry Todd
The Comsat Angels reformed the original line-up to play a one-off gig as part of the Sensoria Festival at the O2 Academy in Sheffield on April 26 2009. A different line-up with Terry Todd on bass then played a further three gigs in the UK in October 2009.

In the early 80s, I was fortunate enough to see these guys in a small club in Rhode Island.
Because of some scheduling issue, they were opening for a local band.
I got a chance to talk to keyboard player Andy Peake before their set.
    What a treat!

Drummers are always forgotten in the band hierarchy, and Mr Glaisher is fun-tastic.

such talent - their whole catalog has hardly any weak moments. I saw the last gig in Sheffield before they hung up their gloves. great music.
