Keith was killed by a short in the PA he was using to get ready for the next Yardbirds. Britain used DC 220 volt a failed ground you get the blue spark from mic to lips than you are dead. Same thing that killed singer Stone The Crows while on stage
"Mister you're a better man than I" "Shapes of things", "Still I'm sad" "Heart full of soul", just a few These guys were amazing in how they could pack a great top 40 song with a phenomenal guitar solo all into a radio hit of about 2 minutes and 30 seconds Fantastic group that never ages
My 4 favorite songs by The Yardbirds are Shapes Of Things, Heart Full Of Soul, Turn Into Earth and Evil Hearted You. I loved all of their stuff! My favorite band from that era!
Many consider The Yardbirds to be one of the most influential bands of all time. I saw them play live in Singapore about 1966 and years later got to jam with a guy who still plays in a band with that name. His name escapes me for the moment as I only met him once.
My 1st concert was a Dick Clark Caravan of Stars show. 2 major recording artists , then the headliners. The Yardbirds featuring Jeff Beck with new , unknown 2nd guitarist Jimmy Page. Then I saw them twice with J. Page in 1968. Less than a year later the 1st Led Zep tour ( the bill was Jethro Tull 1st tour , Zep and Vanilla Fudge )$5 Chicago / Kinetic Playground.
Many of the comment's here are are not exactly 100% correct. I won't even get into how many incorrect detail's and mispronounced name's are in this video. Still, the Yardbirds deserve much praise and admiration.
My introduction to the Yardbirds was in 67 or 68 I was reading the latest issue of the WQAM Music survey out of Miami, Fl. I noticed one song near the bottom titled "Ha Ha said the clown" by the Yardbirds. Not one of their popular tunes but for a young teen like myself it was alright.
G'day! Noticed the other day Jeff Beck had passed, went to see him live here in Perth West Oz in late 70s,sadly he was Booed by the Crowd as it was Clear he had Partaken of something which made him just sit there looking at his Guitar, so sad to see!!
Think About It is a song that was recorded by Aerosmith. The Yardbirds had many members but I still think Jimmy Page was the best guitarist. Paul Samwell Smith went on to produce albums and write or co write songs with Cat Stevens and Carly Simon in the 1970's.
As time has passed it is obvious that Jeff Beck is the best of the 3 guitarists. Clapton hasn't released a solid album since "Reptile" & Page is too busy tweaking Zeppelin material for more $. Probably does not even have callouses anymore because any new music from him has not shown up.. Beck is turning 78 on 6/24/22, on tour in Europe at this post, and innovates the guitar every time he picks it up.Not only is he the best of the 3, he is the #GOAT Guitarist all time.
@@whathappenedtothem_ Thanks for the response. If you go through Beck's extensive recordings he tackles so many different genres & styles in his over 50+ years in recording. He had won 7 Grammys for "Best Rock Instrumental" & would have won more if not for the Grammy Award Commitee discontinuing the award for more RAP awards instead ! He also has guested on so many other musician's recordings that it is worth looking up just to hear him play with them. If you wanna see a great documentary about Beck then this is a must see: th-cam.com/video/qGvf8z3Em4g/w-d-xo.html
Yes, and Beck is the one on all their great records Clapton, the guitar god, ended his career writing top 40 muzak (If I could change the world), Page went off to produce other things, but Beck survived Loved Beck's Bolero, and his live performance at Ronny Scotts
Beck and Ozzy Osbourne just topped the Rock playinglist yesterday with "Patient No. 9" and Beck is no 38 on the album.list with "18". Well done by a 78-year-old. But then he IS the Lord of the strings.
With Clapton, the Yardbirds were great. When he left, Beck and Page just didn't quite hold up to the precise playing of Eric. You want to hear where Beck, Page, Jimi and more get their licks? Listen to John Mayall albums with Eric and ALL of the Cream recordings. Without Eric, we wouldn't have hard rock as it came to be. He was first to use a Les Paul with a FULL up Marshall, the first to play with precise execution, was the first to have long solo breaks as any musician in a Jazz group.
Where has this person been? I'll tell what happened to the Yardbirds,.... LED ZEPPELIN is what happened !!!!! GEEEZUS guys, know your Rockstar History!!
The Yardbirds are one of my absolute favourite bands, real grand with a special charm and beautiful songs ❣ RIP Keith, we love you.

I was a regular at the Marquee, and saw them dozens of times. Marvellous !
Yardbirds were a great favorite of mine back in the day..."Over, Under, Sideways, Down" is the first song that springs to mind.
Loved them from day one im now 74 ❤
Their masterpice was Roger the Engineer. Has to rank with Pepper, Piper, Experience, Who, Traffic et al as greatest of the era.

The New Yardbirds came afterwards, which became the legendary band Led Zeppelin.
Great History lesson bro. Truly entertaining and filled in a lot of gaps for me.
Glad to hear it!

Jeff Beck also collaborated with Donovan.
In Barabajagal, Jeff Beck suonò la chitarra.

Interesting points.

Very true comments about Jeff beck🎸🎸
Beatles and stones aside. The most important and influential rock band period
Ich erinnere mich noch genau:
Clapton verließ die Yardbirds, weil sie den Blues verrieten und zur Schlagerkapelle mutierten - für 50 Silberlinge.

I would like to see what happened to The Mindbender's if possible, PS keep up the good work.
Didnt realize Billy Sheehan was a Yardbird.... lol, just fucking with ya, he does look like Billy, so I could see mistaking them.
saw the yardbirds only once live at chiselhurst caves outside london + jimmy hendrix as well was a hot +sweaty venue !!!
The art work shown for the Yardbirds' second album bears resemblance to the art work from Fleetwood Mac' Mystery to me album .
Interesting. I never noticed that.
It was drawn by one of the band, if I remember correctly.
Excellent report❤
The yard birds made the British invasion suddenly cool.
😆Sorry what’s their debut album called again? (It’s written on the cover mate!). Clapton left the Bluesbreakers to join Cream- not the Yardbirds
Jimmy Page was the only member of The Yardbirds and then LZ
Please do Pink Floyd, the DOORS and Lynyrd Skynyrd in this style.
Let’s remember Keith Relf. accidentally taken too soon in his home recording studio
With whom he has collaborated with? Lose the last word.
They flew the coop
Where has this person been? I'll tell what happened to the Yardbirds,.... LED ZEPPELIN is what happened !!!!! GEEEZUS guys, know your Rockstar History!!
do The Mothers Of Invention..,
Easy.
They changed their name to Led Zeppelin.
They were a group not a band .
Swell
Think they broke up 🙄
they became Led Zeppelin and stole a bunch of songs.
Dreadful, slurred diction from the narrator.
Something big in his mouth
Vocal is indistinct , cant fllow half of what he says. A mumbler. Marbles in the mouth.
Lousy technical and substantive narration.
How awful that this completely British band has an american voiceover on its story. Offensive,
Be quiet and stick to playing football for Brazil.
Quite agree Carlos, should have had British commentary and maybe gotten a the real story, still great music!
Awful mumbling diction. Many words mispronounced, slurred and left unfinished.
So what are you going to do?
