This is a Beretta made in Brazil, I used one when I served in the Brazilian Marine Corps. Excellent weapon! This weapon inspired models such as the Taurus PT92, also widely used and tested here in Brazil. Very good weapons!

Does it have the PB logo on it anywhere? If it doesn't then it's kind of hard to believe that it's actually a real beretta. Taurus makes what they call the Beretta but it's not an authentic Beretta it's a clone. So my question now is given that you say It's made in brazil...... Did the Beretta company have a plant in Brazil to manufacture those? I asked because there's countless clones all over.

@@NortheastSurvival911 Beretta did have a factory in Brazil in the mid-1980s, an old contract with the Brazilian government. After closing, he sold the entire factory with equipment for taurus. As a result, the Taurus Pt line is not a clone, but a weapon produced with all Beretta equipment.

I visited the factory in 1988 when it was already a Taurus factory, but when I was a boy, maybe in 1978 or 79 I saw the name Beretta many times on that factory. It was placed on Vitor Manzini avenue, it moved to Bento Branco Ribeiro street a few years later. On the 1982 edition of Gun Digest the Taurus PT92 was present, no picture, but the gun was there. In 1981 was possible to see Beretta advertising on the brazilian edition of Playboy magazine (I just know because I saw it).

I wouldn't trade that Beretta for a new 92X myself. I love the older pistols, maybe because I'm an older model😅

I have the same Gun. The B prefix serial number is a Brazilian made gun. Ours differ slightly as mine has an import mark and I don't have the B prefix. (Identical slide markings) From what I've read is the per-production units lacked the B prefix, which was added once normal production commenced. The Brazilian factory (built due military contract) was the first large scale production of the 92. In fact I understand the Italian plant didn't have a large commercial capacity for the model 92 production, so that they imported 92's from Brazil until they had their own machinery. (The Brazil plant got it's machinery first in order to meet the new contract demands.) My serial number is in the 10xxx range and has the original grips in very nice condition. They are a plastic y looking high gloss black. Reminds me of my Beretta model 1951.
The funny thing about is is I bought my 92 today. I have a collection of Beretta's and couldn't pass it up! They are a bit of a rare bird and I confess to being a bit envious about you not having a little import mark. So goes life. ENJOY IT.

Did you ever find a decent beretta resource? I have an AF date code 92 with the frame safety which makes it 1980 and is serial numbered about 40,000. Which is weird since by 1980 they had the 92S and had just started the 92 SB and SB compact

They made the 92 up through 1982. The 92s would be 1978 1980-85. The SB 1980-85. These in the US would all be berben corp marked on the slide.

When you say you contacted Beretta, do you mean the USA branch or the Italian branch?
Despite being the same company, I have a hunch they may respond differently
At least for other big names such as Walther and HK, their home European branches operate differently from their USA branches so I'd say its worth a shot to ask both
    Just my two cents

This information is taken from a website regarding beretta. As it turns out they did have a plant in brazil.
In the 1970s, Beretta also started a manufacturing plant in São Paulo, Brazil. A contract between Beretta and the Brazilian government was signed, under which Beretta produced Beretta 92s for the Brazilian Army until 1980. Later this plant was sold to Taurus, who continues to manufacture the Beretta 92 under the name of PT92 using the same tools and labour which Beretta used, without the need for a license from Beretta, since the design is based on the original Beretta 92, for which the patents have expired.[16]
A Taurus Beretta 92 is not a Beretta it's an imitation made to close specs. Just throwing that out there.
And lately there have been clones coming from all over the world.
