The actors and actresses that show up in these Gunsmoke episodes over the years could fill a list a mile long! Just this one episode, in addition to the great Bette Davis, we see Tom Skeritt and Bruce Dern. Harrison Ford appeared in two episodes, Richard Dreyfuss, Eileen Heckhart, Richard Basehart, Morgan Woodward in tons of episodes, Cloris Leachman, Dack Rambo, the list goes on and on. Great show.
Matt had no excuse not to date Kitty. She was in danger due to him being Marshall no matter what. James Arness said himself that the reason they never hooked up Matt and Kitty, was because the creators felt that it would change up the status quo too much. It's very important to change up the status quo at times and Matt/Kittys romance being teased but never built on was really frustrating. If this show gets rebooted, the Matt/Kitty romance needs to be established, since it's too good to be wasted.
It's on here too in St. Paul Minnesota on MeTv. But they started em over again from the very beginning with the old ones. I like the ones done in the 60's and 70's more.
During the filming of this episode The presence of actress Bette Daves caused alot of tension on set. Great actress, what a great achievement to those who worked with her. In the last scene when Marshals Dillon moved her body to confirm she was dead I could swear she moved her eyes lids.
Honey Bette was rough as a cob and loved playing those rough gritty gals . She kept Joan Crawford so man and Amanda cut to the chase and said none of that here on Gunsmoke but honey she is got the brass
This is why Bette Davis was a better actress than Katherine Hepburn. Bette could play just about any role, from a gun toting Western gal to an English queen to a crazy lady and so on. Katherine only played royal, noble or patrician characters, well, she was born into high society, so for her, those types of roles were not really much of a quantum leap. Not taking anything away from her, but Bette had much more versatility.
Amanda Blake was very beautiful, but the make up people put so much stuff on her that they hid her beauty and the red hair color was too bright and harsh. Bette Davis looked better than Amanda did!
Bette Davis played the deranged older woman so well in her older years. Such a great actress.

Miss Kitty was quite the gunslinger. She killed Bette Davis and Jack Elam. 😂
I wonder if Bette thought Kitty was Joan Crawford!!!!!!😎🤣
I would be SO willing to bet that if Joan found out about this episode, she would have begged to be given a part, and to be the one to shoot Bette! 😆
This ranks alongside the Big Valley scene in which Barbara Stanwyck shot Colleen Dewhurst.

Just like none of the Cartwrights ever got hitched. Changes the format of the show.
They knew what they were doing. If they had gotten together, it would have spoiled the successful dynamic of the show
@@davidpar2 Same reason the Cartwright boys never got hitched.
Kitty showed how much she loved Matt and he was really surprised. Wow that's a way to put it.
Wow, Miss Titty put a cap in Betty Davis.
For a chance kitty jadA chance to come and rescue

Betty Davis, the quintessential bad girl...she was the best!
Bette and Amanda became good friends in real life. Great actresses and women. RIP Bette, Amanda, and Matt🙏😪❤
A bad guy’s worst nightmare… An angry Matt Dillon with a six-shooter!
Davis playing a western Ma Barker with Looney Tunes Bruce Dern as a son.
This one was a classic one with bruce Dern
Bruce dern had appeared on every TV western of the sixties. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Amazing actor!!!❤
Best bitch slap since Wyatt took over the Farro table.
Never knew Betty Davis was in gunsmoke well done
That's not the first time Kitty blew somebody's shit away. She did it in one of the half hour episodes. Wish I could remember which one it was.
She shot Jack Elam, that guy who attacked her in one of the episodes.
Is that a young Tom Skerritt?
yep.

Having grown up in Arizona, I can attest that this was pretty much frontier justice in the day. 🤠
Guest roles on these westerns were highly coveted by A list actors and actresses
Bette had it coming.
Bette with an e
@@rufust.firefly4890 Yep! I shall make the correction :)
Seconded by Herbert Marshall - The Letter, The Little Foxes.
Its your man I want. That Marshal Dillion
And, then, Bill Smith wanted Marshall's woman.
Miss Kitty has claws if you dilly dally with her Dillon Dolly.
A great ending
Honey Bette was rough as a cob and loved playing those rough gritty gals . She kept Joan Crawford so man and Amanda cut to the chase and said none of that here on Gunsmoke but honey she is got the brass
was that the director chuckling? (lol)
Miss Kitty to the rescue!
I loved Betty Davis.
Enough to spell her name right?
Ms Kitty killed alot of people, especially men on that show.
Notice there was no blood?
Matt Dillon: Mrs. Stone, your husband was tried by a jury of his peers, he was found guilty and hanged for murder
I remember this one.
Very nice
Alright Miss Kitty
I remember that episode my mom was happy as a lark when miss kitty shot bette Davis my mom hated bette Davis I don't know why
couldn't have happened to a better broad, too much color though
Was there something better about black and white? I think color can be a distraction and you cant completely take in all the action.

Bruce Dern played Bette Davis murdered lover two years earlier in 1964's Oscar nominated
"Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte"
Were did you find this episode??
It was on MeTv
Betty was a great actress, but her acting of being shot,,,not so much. Kitty was the bomb!💋
Sometimes less is more.

Amanda looked best in the early seasons. She looked fantastic in 1955
I used 2 think that 2 but....i think she was supposed 2b a floozy" no disrespect 2 Miss Kitty..💙💙🌵🌵My Family LOVED Gunsmoke!!!!!!!!!
@@davidpar2 Yep.
In the color episodes, her hair was ridiculous. Blake reminded me of an overthehill harlot.
NAMED OUR BOAT AFTER HER.
" MISS KITTY"
Good try my friend but a short nearly five minutes.
